And I disagree with the canidate's wife's complaints that he left his job as a legislator take another job in the military, but it's a valid point...or at least not an offensive one.

But seriously, if you listen to it, the canidate is clearly complaining that everyone assumed he was a Democrat because he had a blue sign and a Jewish last name. (It's a heavily Democrat district.) I don't think it's offensive to speculate that people assume someone with a Jewish last name is probably a Democrat.

And I could see how if you count on Congressman to represent your district's interests, you would want a Congressman who will actually be there to represent you, as much of a hero as he may be. Now, I agree the Democratic canidate and his wife clearly don't seem to have a whole lot of respect for servicemen, but the point is still valid.

16 Josh Mandel is a good guy. A proud Republican in a Democrat district, this kid doesn't back down from anyone or anything.

His saving grace is that there are a LOT of conservative and orthodox Jews in his district. I was stopped by 2 yesterday who were passing out McCain flyers.

They are petrified of Obama.

During the Tennessee primary, Steve Cohen was subject to anti-Semitic attacks too. Most Democrats decried these ads and Cohen ended up winning.

So I'm inclined to give toetotoetotoe the benefit of the doubt here. Democrats aren't overtly anti-Semitic. (Anymore than ol' Neville was.)

Mandel is a hot commodity in the Ohio GOP. GOP Jewish war veterans from NE Ohio are kinda rare.

His district is not really a heavily Dem district, it has quite a few GOPers, including those Orthodox Jews. Mandel replaced another GOPer who was term limited out (and is the opponent of Dennis Kucinich).

Does Mrs. Dem Candidate really think that voters will punish a guy who served two tours in Iraq?
