Barney Frank: Hey, You Know What We Need? A 25% Cut in Defense Spending During a War

Awful.

Oh, and he's jazzed about blowing up social spending and raising taxes, too.

Frank told the editorial board of the SouthCoast Standard-Times that he wanted to reduce defense spending by a quarter, meaning the United States would have to withdraw from Iraq sooner.

"The people of Iraq want us out, and we want to stay over their objection," he said. "It's extraordinary."

Frank also said the post-election stimulus package will focus on spending for building projects, extending unemployment benefits, and further supporting states' healthcare costs. "We'll have to raise taxes ultimately," Frank said. "Not now, but eventually." Frank told the Standard-Times that if Democrats cannot secure the votes they need in November, they will try again in January, when they will likely have stronger majorities in the House and Senate.

More at Hot Air.

Including the notion of making Barney Fucking Frank the centerpiece of McCain's "divided government" argument.

From HILLBUZZ

Today on my way to lunch I passed a homeless guy with a sign that read “Vote Obama, I need the money.” I laughed.

Once in the restaurant my server had on a “Obama 08″ tie, again I laughed as he had given away his political preference — just imagine the coincidence.

When the bill came I decided not to tip the server and explained to him that I was exploring the Obama redistribution of wealth concept. He stood there in disbelief while I told him that I was going to redistribute his tip to someone who I deemed more in need–the homeless guy outside. The server angrily stormed from my sight.

I went outside, gave the homeless guy $10 and told him to thank the server inside as I’ve decided he could use the money more. The homeless guy was grateful.

At the end of my rather unscientific redistribution experiment I realized the homeless guy was grateful for the money he did not earn,
but the waiter was pretty angry that I gave away the money he did earn even though the actual recipient needed the money more.

I guess redistribution of wealth is an easier thing to swallow in concept than in practical application.

I'm more scared of what they can do in 4 years of Obama as President with super-majorities in Congress for at least 2 of those years.

25 The lisping and sashaying Barney Frank does not even know that the No. 1 duty of our government is to provide security to its citizens!  It's even spelled out in the Constitution.  He can't see that anywhere in the document, but I sure as hell bet he sees the part that says he should be able to marry a male live-in pimp or a male vice-president of Fannie Mae.  Or the part that explicitly guarantees that a woman should be able to have an abortion at any time for any reason.  Or the part that says raising taxes is always a good idea.  "That's all spelled out in those extra pages or those articles or something!" he would lisp while pocketing an earmark..

That doesn't mean the war is over. Frank is nuts to talk about cutting defense now - and we have all seen the vid of obama promising to dismantle our defense. Dangerous times.

A major part of defense spending (something like 40%) is in personnel costs.  So essentially Bawney Fwank is calling for either a freeze on pay raises, a reduction in personnel levels or some combination of each.

35 Where did people think the extra Obama Economic Plan money was going to come from? Defense is the largest chunk of our budget. So basically:

1] Increase the war effort in Afghanistan and Pakistan while cutting back in Iraq.

2] Put a timetable on Iraq for withdrawal to make more costly war later.

3] Cut an already stretched DoD budget to spread wealth around [to some who are perfectly able to JOIN the military and contribute]

Don't get me wrong, I think the DoD budget needs to be streamlined, but not cut. Not while we are fighting two wars.

OK.  If Barney wants to be front and center here, let's go.

Herb Moses, Frank's former boytoy, was hired by Fannie Mae at his request.  So were a bunch of other unqualified homos who were in their "social circle."  There's a giant gay mafia at Fannie Mae.

When Moses and Frank broke up, Moses lost his job at Fannie Mae.  He was not competent to do the job he had and he was no longer of use to them when he stopped shtupping Barney.

Who wants to know why they broke up?  It might be rather interesting for Barney if the question were asked by someone.

Well, at least Frank provides clarity about this election. By that I mean: if a majority of Americans vote for Obama even after what Barney Frank says, then we know where that majority stands on such fundamental issues as the role of government and how they want to be governed. There's no ambiguity here. Which means that there need be no ambiguity in my views--nor in my actions. If Obama becomes president I'm going to become one hell of a reactionary. And an obstructionist. I'm going to do whatever is within my power to wreck, confound, and frustrate an Obama presidency. In other words, my behavior is going to mirror that of liberals and leftists in the Bush years. Except, hopefully, I'll be more effective. Patriotism my ass: see how they like it for a change.

Yes, I think it's one scenario Biden was referencing. For once, Biden is right. As soon as Obama is elected our enemies are going to start testing his resolve. In practical terms that means war. Probably multiple wars. As well as hostile economic and political action. An Obama presidency is going see war and conflict, lots of it.

49 CDR M,

The link is only temporarily valid, but I searched and found HR 808, the silliness you found. Just wow. Check this out:
SEC. 103. PRINCIPAL OFFICERS. (a) Under Secretary of Peace and Nonviolence- There shall be in the Department an Under Secretary of Peace and Nonviolence, who shall be appointed by the President, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate. During the absence or disability of the Secretary, or in the event of a vacancy in the office of the Secretary, the Under Secretary shall act as Secretary. The Secretary shall designate the order in which other officials of the Department shall act for and perform the functions of the Secretary during the absence or disability of both the Secretary and Under Secretary or in the event of vacancies in both of those offices. (b) Additional Positions- (1) There shall be in the Department-- (A) an Assistant Secretary for Peace Education and Training; (B) an Assistant Secretary for Domestic Peace Activities; (C) an Assistant Secretary for International Peace Activities; (D) an Assistant Secretary for Technology for Peace; (E) an Assistant Secretary for Arms Control and Disarmament; (F) an Assistant Secretary for Peaceful Coexistence and Nonviolent Conflict Resolution; (G) an Assistant Secretary for Human and Economic Rights; and (H) a General Counsel.
So who is in charge of all the scalpels for de-balling? I don't see any Assistant Secretary for Castrations mentioned anywhere. I think an amendment to the bill is in order.

We are well and truly screwed.
