For one thing, the image could be flipped. For another thing, she could have taken a picture of herself in a mirror. For a third -- if she were on her back, her head held by the attacker's left arm below her chin, her head between his legs as he scratched -- she'd be upside down as oriented to him. Pittsburgh law enforcement sources tell TMZ they have serious questions about the authenticity of the alleged victim who says she had her face cut by a politically-motivated attacker.
We're told there are several things about the alleged attack that don't add up. A Pittsburgh PD official says they are conducting a "thorough investigation" and have not determined if the alleged attack is real or a hoax. But we're told there is definitely a level of skepticism.
As we reported, the alleged victim claims she went to an ATM and when she turned around, a large dark-skinned man took the money she withdrew. She says when he noticed she had a McCain/Palin bumper sticker on her car, he became enraged, knocked her down and cut a "B" in her face.
We're told the woman refused medical assistance at the scene and said she would go to the hospital the next day.

She never offered a description of her attacker other than he was 'supposedly' an Obama supporter. Was he white, black, latino??
This is outrageous and demands further scrutiny. Also suspect are the blackeyes. Although real, the contusions are not reminiscent of a frontal punch as there are no abrasions/contusions above the eye socket (men have big, large knuckles) and the area around the eye socket is sensitive soft tissues. This woman is committing fraud via Munchhausen By Proxy and should be jailed for submitting a false police report/complaint. And the only reason WHY she would refuse to seek medical treatment is that she knows her story would not hold up under a physicians examination.
And no, I am not an Obama supporter, I am voting McCain but these false allegations and rumors must stop. As a Dr, I can not fathom why people go to great lengths to lie about being attacked.
Someone needs to have her examined for 'a possible concussion' from being 'punched in the head', that alone would have allowed the police to forcefully admit her as if she in some way passes out while driving home after the 'attack, the police department would be liable for allowing her to leave with possible 'brain trauma'.

The ATM footage right before the attack would show her face pre-attack - good point. The police (I believe) showed up pretty quickly. So we should know fairly soon that all injuries were inflicted in the few minutes between cash withdrawal and police arrival. If this is a hoax, she would have to be pretty quick thinking to say "dang, I just got robbed, let me carve a B on my face!"

Ashley Todd, 20, of College Station, Texas, was using an ATM at Liberty Avenue and Pearl Street in Bloomfield just before 9 p.m. Wednesday when a man approached her, put a knife to her throat and demanded $60, police said.
Todd handed the man $60 she had in her pocket and stepped away from him, investigators said. The man then noticed the bumper sticker on the woman's car, which was parked in front of the ATM. The man became very angry, made comments to Todd about John McCain and punched her in the back of the head, knocking her to the ground, police said.
"He continued to kick and punch her repeatedly and said he would teach her a lesson for supporting John McCain," said police Chief Nate Harper.
The man then carved the "B" into Todd's right cheek. Todd, who isn't familiar with the area, drove to a friend's house nearby and told her friend she wasn't sure of the exact location where the robbery took place but remembered a green sign above the ATM. The friend called police and the officer met them on Cypress Street in Bloomfield, police said.
Todd's friend offered to drive her back in the direction she came from to look at ATMs until she found the right one, police said. A police officer followed until Todd pointed out a Citizens Bank ATM at Liberty and Pearl, police said.
She declined medical treatment at the scene and said she would go to a hospital today.
And police are getting the surveillance.

The upside down explanation is probably correct, but there are several other possible explanations.
If you have a camera or cell phone and want to see what you look like to other people, when you don't have anyone around to take the picture, you flip the image.
Most people I know do this when the lens and LCD are on the same side, like on mine.
Even if this is not the explanation, notice she has wounds on both the left and right side.
And frankly, big city beat cops aren't known for their powers of observation. It could be some reporter asked him if anyone witnessed the infliction of the wound "x" side of her face or observed it.
For me, it doesn't matter. This is just one of many assaults the ObamaNazis have carried out. Well-documented as the New York and Georgia assault and kidnapping were, neither got reported by the "journalists." This won't make the national news either, unless they badger her into saying it's a hoax, whether it is or isn't.

I actually traced a B on my cheek when I first heard about this... and I did it on my right cheek without thinking. I bet most people would put their right hand to their right cheek. I suspect you are the odd ball, what with your right hand crossing over to your left cheek.
However, I did notice that there would be deeper pressure on my cheeks at certain points when tracing the letter. I can't tell if those line up with her B. A closer pic of her face should probably reveal the authorship of the B. A right hander attacking her upside down would have a different pressure distribution than she would have - if she did it herself. Sort of like how you can figure out if the artist behind a painting was right or left handed by looking at the way the curves are drawn.
This mystery will be solved.

First of all, if a knife was involved there would be either puctures of the skin, OR significant scuffs/marks on the side of her head from the attacker locking her head in.
When you have a knife or other object being forced on your head, you don't just lay there, you freak out and panic.
The black/blue under her eyes, that would be puffy by the time it's black and blue. Note that above the eye everything is OK. What a weird punch.

With this one, the lie originated from a young McCain operative, and the candidates themselves became involved. It exploited racial issues in general, and in particular the political wrangling over racial issues in Western Pennsylvania, a focal point of the McCain campaign.
The MSM had a field day with the Palin baby story, and the manufactured wingnut outrage over it. So, let's see whether the MSM will have a field day with this incendiary, gutless and ugly lie that originated in the McCain campaign.

Re the upside-down hypothesis: an attacker who wanted to get leverage would be on top of the torso, face to face. How could anybody not thrash their way out of being held down by the head?
Speaking of thrashing, if someone was holding you down to cut you cheek (let's say it was with car keys, not a knife), you'd be thrashing like a mofo to get out of it, making it near impossible for the attacker to make a nice, even depth, backwards B.
My hypothesis: the black eye was from some other incident (who knows), the "B" was self inflicted. Until the ATM cameras prove me wrong, I say this (along with the Twitter page) points 100% to a hoax.

I thought that Trig was Sarah's kid and that those who were saying otherwise were relying on a long and highly implausible set of circumstances. I admit, though, that the story of the premature birth was pretty strange. I still think it's strange, but my conclusion is that it was the 1 in the 1 in a million.
What I thought was a whole lot more fun was The National Enquirer's coverage of the ins and outs of the Palin family. That side of things, plus the CBS interviews, hurt her very badly. And I did absolutely nothing but laugh my ass off. I love the tabloids, and that includes when Bill Clinton was busted. My favorite was the cigar.
The only negative thing I have to say is that the Republicans shouldn't have impeached him over it. Who knows that Obama hasn't already done so? Last winter, the Dallas police reported that the Secret Service ordered them to stop screening for weapons at an Obama rally. In July, his airplane had to make a sudden emergency landing. If I were Obama, I would not be relying solely on any government agency to insure my longevity.

Why did Todd drive 12 miles into an unfamiliar section of a big city to find an ATM? Why was she conveniently twittering about looking for ATMs in her car right before the "attack"?
Why did Todd refuse treatment on the night of the "attack"? Why did she instead quickly forward news of the "attack" and a photo of her "injuries" to her right wing blogger pals?
Where are the other witnesses to the "attack"? Where is the security camera footage of the "attack"?
Why did the alleged attacker follow her back to her car after she gave him her money? If he wanted something from her car, why didn't he just demand her keys? If Todd's McCain bumper sticker enraged her attacker so much that he beat her and then somehow forced her sit still long enough to delicately and lightly scratch a well-formed "B" onto her face, why didn't he damage her car, take her car, take her keys, take her wallet, take her credit cards or even take her Blackberry? Why didn't he force her to get more money out of her ATM or give him her ATM code and card if he had enough time to continue assaulting her without any witnesses around and enough power over her to carefully mark her with his knife without her struggling?
Where is the police artist sketch of the at large suspect? If this "attack" were real, wouldn't the victim's primary focus be on locking up the dangerous, violent criminal who violated her before he viciously maims more innocent victims rather than spreading the news of the bizarre McCain/Obama angle of the "attack" as far and wide as possible?
Bottom line:
Todd is a College Republican volunteer for the McCain campaign who came all the way from "safe" Texas to try to turn the tide for McCain in swing PA.
If Todd's story is real, there is a bizarre, dangerous, violent, dyslexic 6'4" black Baracko with an Obama fetish and a small dull knife roaming the streets of Pittsburgh's Little Italy robbing innocent ATM customers and chomping at the bit to delicately trace the mark of Baracko onto the faces of poor unsuspecting McCain supporters.
If Todd's story is fake, she's an amateur hour Rove with the average freeper's stilted and racially fevered imagination.

"Several inconsistencies" have emerged in the statements made by a John McCain volunteer who claims she was robbed at knife point in Pittsburgh by an attacker who cut a "B" into her face after noticing a McCain bumper sticker on her car.
Pittsburgh police spokeswoman Diane Richard told FOXNews.com on Friday that Ashley Todd, 20, says she was groped by a robber and lost consciousness during Wednesday's alleged assault at an ATM. She didn't initially report those details, Richard said.
As for the wound on her cheek, "it's very shallow, it's more of a scratch," Richard said.
Todd took a polygraph test late Thursday or early Friday after police discovered the inconsistencies, Richard said. The investigation is ongoing. Richard said Todd is still being considered the "victim" of an assault.
Police are reviewing surveillance footage and searching for witnesses.
After a second interview by police, Todd is not as definitive about the assault, or the motives behind it, Richard said. She's also not sure if the robber took $60 from her as she initially reported but maintains it's missing, Richard said.

She did not actually use the ATM and was not present there at the time of the attack.
She is more and more exposed now as a liar, a bad one, and hasn't the faintest clue about the functioning of things like mirrors, and ATMs I guess.

Well I expect all of those who believe her to be promoted within the party and given credibiltiy enough to be included in future Presidential debatses and consultations. It worked for Al Sharpton.

Besides, the right's answer to Crystal Mangum never even claimed that the phony assailant had her upside down; you just made that up after the fact.
