Just posting this because I can.

And because it's what you've come to expect from me.

Sweet, sweet expectations.

All the articles about the clothes is very annoying considering Obama is spending a fortune and has not even properly reported the expenditures. Hey I read that in the NYT so it has been real.

I would kill for that pair of red heels she was sporting at the VP debate, though.

Now I expect to see some hard-hitting journalistic pieces about how much Michelle Obama spends on clothes monthly. (Not that it does her much good, that outfit she was sporting at the second debate looked like my grandma's couch.) Also, how much do Barack's suits cost?

Then, they froth and spit at any story that can be spun to disparage Palin, however far afield from the issues of the day.  Hey!! Let's write reams about her family, wardrobe, tanning bed or for real effect, how she clips her toenails.

Mean-spirited hypocrites, they are...

52 why should i worry? with michelle obama's eating habits she will spend more than that in one year--and that's just counting a meal like that lobster one once a day. if she spends that much on food for all three meals (and I don't doubt she could) it would only take about four months. and all that food doesn't look nearly as good on her as those clothes look on Sarah.

funny how we have no idea how m. obama got the money to pay for that food. redistribution of wealth, no doubt, but foreign or domestic is the question.

I wondered about the fixation with the shoes. The first pic I saw of just her shoes, I wondered what the significance was - were they saying the shoes were cool, or tacky? I'm not a shoe person, so I didn't get it, but now I'm looking at these Sun Times photos, and sheesh, they are really into shoes!

76 Heh. From Mark Steyn at The Corner:

A Woman's Right to Shoes

I must say I've never been much of a foot fetishist (and please, any members of Foot Fetishists For Obama: no email blitzes pointing out what a pedophobe I am). Nevertheless, since the investigative research units of our major media operations developed their peculiar obsession with Sarah Palin's shoes, I'm beginning to enjoy the kinky frisson of it all. This Chicago Sun-Times photo gallery is especially impressive.

And, by the way, if you think it's easy photographing Governor Palin's feet all day when you could be out investigating Acorn, these pictures are taken at some pretty severe angles. At least when they're with Obama, they only have to throw themselves at his feet metaphorically.

On the other hand, it's far easier photographing Joe Biden's footwear because it's generally in his mouth.

Posted by: aurora at October 23, 2008 02:14 AM (ZVGHf)

94 The difference between the republicans and the democrats is that Gov. Palin's family's wardrobe is going to be given to charity. John Edward's $400 hair cut and Michelle Obama's $500 lobster and champagne dinner are consumables. Once his hair grows or she takes a dump it's gone. $150,000 for Gov. Palin, her husband, 5 kids, and a fiancee is not bad. What do people expect? Should they go around like ragamuffins?  The media is dressed up during debates. Gwen Eiffel doesn't wear bunny slippers and a bathrobe when she moderates. Charles Gibson doesn't wear a ripped undershirt with oil stains on it when he is interviewing her. The candidates are expected to look good when they are campaigning.

Posted by: scrubjay at October 23, 2008 02:47 AM (XQZzQ)

95

Palin was exuberant before the crowd, demanding an autograph from warm-up singer Gretchen Wilson, famed for her song, "Redneck Woman."

Palin joked: "Someone called me a `redneck woman' once. You know what I said back? `Thank-you very much.'"--Glen Johnson

Glen Johnson is an ass. He spells "Thank-you" with a hyphen within quotation marks of what he heard--not read but overheard. You don't hear a hyphen when someone says "Thank you" unless you yourself place it there in your own ass-head. So Glen Johnson is either a hick, or as an ass wants to make the person he's quoting appear grammatically challenged, or both. Top it off with the double quotation mark sending an eye back to Johnson's hyphen.
