| "The Comprehensive Case Against Barack Obama"And it is, indeed, comprehensive. Mostly. As detailed as this is, it still can't hit all of the negatives and all of the evidence against Barack Obama. And that's part of the problem. How do attack such a seriously flawed person? Shorter: "The Silenced Majority." Orson Scott Card... attempts the shame the shamelessly in the tank media. About the big lie about the subprime crisis. And all the stuff about Obama they won't report. Useless, of course. If they had shame or any sense of obligation to be nonpartisan, Card's challenge wouldn't need to be issued.Comments1
No kidding. This guy's past, objectively presented, makes the presenter look to the usual out of the loop and shielded voter like a paranoid and schizo John Bircher. He's got more skeleton's in his closet than ACORN has nuts. Posted by: MlR at October 21, 2008 08:02 PM (PLmsY) 2

How do attack such a seriously flawed person? Mockery. I refer to Obama's "term papers" rather than His policies. "Obama's term paper on health care ..." "Obama's term paper on defense ..." My lefty friends start to correct me - at which point they have to, you know, defend Obama - which they can't do, because they have no idea why they're voting *for* Obama. . And that's with a bunch of amateurs sifting through his past - the highly paid, professional "watchdogs" not having nuts.

Mary Katharine, Guy, and Ed have done a great job of organizing this information. It is a comprehensive presentation of the McCain/Palin case against Barack Obama.
The only problem I can see (if the objective is to convince an undecided voter or an Obama voter to switch sides) is that it might be dismissed as Republican talking points. It would be great to see a list of Obama/Biden talking points, and then show the arguments against those talking points in a similarly well-organized manner. But again, great job! Thank you Mary Katharine, Guy, and Ed! Posted by: Mary at October 21, 2008 08:10 PM (51Kd6) 6
There is a typo in the post...comprehensive is misspelled.

Over a half billion dollars in campaign funds more thatn any human being spent to get elected to antything in the world...ever. The mass media so in the tank for this candidate that they lie each and every day. Although I note a backlash on the conservative web sites it is too little too late. The real backlash will come after the "messiah" is elected. America will reap what it sowed. Perhaps Kruschev was right when he was beating his shoe on the podium.

How do attack such a seriously flawed person? Get the truth about Obama's flaws out to the public. I don't know exactly how. I do know that: We have the advantage of a few major media outlets (e.g. talk radio) combined with the ever-powerful word of mouth enhanced by net communcation (blogs, email, twitter, etc.) to inform people of Obama's flaws. They have the advantage of most major media outlets (e.g., CBS) combined with the ever-powerful word of mouth enhanced by net communcation to hide, obscure, or bury Obama's flaws. I think it will depend on how effective our net people are since they are such a mix (from PUMAs to Morons), plus our few biggies like Rush vs. all the left's MSM stars and their net people. I do not know who will win but I think most McCain-supporting net people are great and giving it their all in their own various ways. Besides since I support McCain, I get to enjoy reading people like Treacher, iowahawk, IMAO etc. instead of forcing politcally-correct laughs at lame SNL skits. So win or lose there's always that. "Silenced Majority?"
Then what the fuck are you all whining about? If you guys are a majority ("silenced" or not) and you vote, you will win the election. At that point, who cares what the evil Obama Campaign does? Heck, once the silent majority has spoken, you can investigate Acorn and Obama's Birth Certificate and Bill Ayers all you want. Or did it occur to anyone that the reason registered Republicans are consistently "under sampled" in poll after poll, is because they are significantly under represented in our population. THE thing that disturbs me the most about 0bama is his profound lack of experience in any area remotely related to anything of use to the general public. He is a complete ZERO in my book. (My book comes out next year.) Also, 0 is the first (in my life) Presidential candidate that is younger than me. That automatically makes him a snot-nosed punk to me. I don't want my President to be a snot-nosed punk. I want my President to be a steely-eyed hardass. As far as I'm concerned, 0's qualifications to be President are the bare constitutional minimum required: US born and over 35. Other than that, he hasn't got jack friggin shit to recommend him. Obama said today that he was worried that the $700 billion bailout package would not help the lending crisis. Sounds like Obama is worried that no more under qualified loaners could get loans. Posted by: Bart at October 21, 2008 08:35 PM (nHaaL) 22
Because, Seattle Slough, that just isn't what non-Presidential-politics polls turn up at all.
If you drop "Republican" and "Democratic" from the poll, and ask questions about the policies alone, you get shockingly conservative results. The media has said before that they were worth about 15%. It seems like they're worth more than 15% to me at the moment. Posted by: Al at October 21, 2008 08:37 PM (Lk931) 23

The problem is that by the time you got to Dohrn you really do look like a troofer to somebody who hasn't paid any attention to this stuff. I mean it really is insane that a guy this disgusting is the democrat party's nominee for POTUS. I would love to see an interview with Sarah Palin where she could discuss her feelings about that Ft. She could bring the righteous indignation that at the time her son is a prisoner of war this scumbag SOB is planning to bomb young soldiers and their dates at a dance on a military base, etc, etc. Odinga in particular is a bridge too far for campaign material....too far away, in the past, too hard to explain quickly. someone,
I spoke to a chef yesterday. He asked why is McCain running for president at 72 years old? Great question I replied...why in the world would a man at 72 want to be President of the USA? Here's my take on it, The man served the country in the Navy, was a POW, tortured. He then, when offered an early release, refused because his fellow POWs weren't going with him. His father was an Adm., his Grandfather on the deck of the USS Missouri behind MacArthur signing the surrender of Japan. He was a Senator since the 80's he ran for President in 2000. He wants to serve the nation that gave him and his family the honor they feel. Character is important. The chef looked at me and said yeah but Obama wants change. Is your point that the electorate's serious misgivings about Barack Obama become misplaced in the event that he wins the election? If you were talking to a reasonable (not declared right, and therefore somewhat left... but not irremediably) undecided (hide head when politics appears until... oh around now) voter right now, what issues would you prioritize? I would say something like this: Hey look a divided gov't is better than a unified one. Look what a unified one under the republicans got us. We are in a mess money-wise and McCain is moderate enough to get just enough not-so-extreame fixes done with a Democratic congress that we should avoid the worst. We can muddle through with each side keeping each other in check until we get through this rough spot money-wise, finish Iraq, and get a handle on what to do long-term with energy. Then next time in 2012 we can risk a more seasoned Obama or Hillary or whoever. Posted by: ArandomPerson at October 21, 2008 09:14 PM (2PwTK) 44

I agree. There is so much crap on Obma that its sheer volume makes it very hard to use it. I believe the best argument is that the Dems will have a supermajority in congress and putting a democrat, who has not been vetted for the job, in the withe house is extremely risky in these perilous times, we need the checks and balances provided by a divided government. The article in Boston.com about the actual final result of Obama's housing debacle in Chicago made a little dent with one of my Obama supporting friends. I was trying to contrast what he says he'll do with what he's actually done. Whenever I've tried to get anywhere with the Ayers/Wright/Dohrn/Pfleger/ACORN arguments, it's fallen pretty flat. errrr I should add to my #43: I would not attack Obama directly talking with such a voter as described in the bit I quoted. I would only bring up such things like ACORN or other Obama flaws if the person brought up some mention of the topic or related topic. Otherwise I risk looking biased. If person brought up something negative: voter fraud is the biggie for me. Flip-flops on any issue I know the voter is interested in (say funding of religious charities or public financing of campaigns). Examples of : unreasonable Palin hate to point out hate toward females, Excessive play of race card; Joe the plumber hate, Obamam campaign donations by ASDF etc. Actually a lot depends on how well I know the person.

I am saying that there are more people who self-identify as Democrats than those who self-identify as Republicans. Therefore, the reason that polls tend to "under-represent" Republicans is because there are simply less of them (you) to poll. If, on the other hand, Rassmussen or Zogby or whoever insisted on an equal number of Republicans and Democrats in their polling sample, the poll would be pretty pointless would it not? (example: We polled 50 black people and 50 white people and found that the nation is only 50% white) Is that clear enough for you? I refer to Obama's "term papers" rather than His policies. I love that line. Obama is always crowing about how he said X warning us about Y, yet there is nothing to prove it but his word. He's said and done things that required zero political courage and then he tries to portray himself as this wise truthsayer who saw our problems before they happened. Bullshit. I can say I thought the Giants were going to beat the Patriots in the Super Bowl, but that don't make it so. Posted by: UGAdawg at October 21, 2008 09:30 PM (MDHAs) 57
don_erico Knight of the Codpiece I use the divided gov't with anyone I don't know if the conversation drifts into the political world. Poliltical conversation is risky. More so now-a-days. As for your "There is so much crap on Obma that its sheer volume makes it very hard to use it. " I agree in this sense: there is a lot of Obmama flaws so any individual might know one or two. If you can figure out which they know about, then (using more detailed info you gathered from net) you can use that speific flaw to attack Obama. Bringing up a topic/flaw that the person does not know about does risk making you look like a kook. so for example, if the person I am talking to says something that indicates that they know about an Obama flaw (say the wright 'god damn' video), I confirm or agree with the person that it is a real fact and that it is an undersandble reason for concern about Obama. If I know something more (or a witty way to re-express the concern like stealing Treacher's 'Where are your papers' line to describe the MSM's attack on Joe) I will add that. In this example, I would add something additional charming tidbit about wright.

Both Hillary and McCain, for various reasons, held back all of their fire and ammunition, and allowed him to be slowly turned into a mainstream candidate. It's pathetic, but his most important qualitification to be president truly was that he was running for president. The more people and the longer that people saw him running, the less they were interested in what he'd done beforehand or who he truly was, he's already accepted as Presidential simply from being in the spotlight so long. They're used to who he presents himself as and are much less likely to turn it on its head, particularly when there's "real" issues on their mind as opposed to the "usual partisan personal attacks." The article in Boston.com about the actual final result of Obama's housing debacle in Chicago made a little dent with one of my Obama supporting friends. I was trying to contrast what he says he'll do with what he's actually done. I'm not sure how much plainer it can be. We are running against an ideology that is flat out socialist. Clinton put a smiley face on it but make no mistake, he was the one who kicked into high gear. Hillary was endorsed and received the vote of the Workers Family Party, an ACORN front just as New Party was in Chicago. Full of socialists and communists. Hell, ACORN got its start in Arkansas with Clinton. Bill Clinton put this whole welfare redistribution shit into action and Obama took it and ran with it. That's why Bill hates Obama so much. You thought he cared about Hillary? Hee. McCain is weak tea, Palin, meh. But the alternative is devastating. You guys really need to understand what is coming under an Obama administration. We could add this too for all those "Moms for Obama":
Chicago's former schools chief has flunked the education foundation headed by Barack Obama and founded by 1960s terrorist Bill Ayers - saying it failed to monitor projects and funded school "reform" groups that campaigned against boosting academic standards. "There was a total lack of accountability. If you went back and asked, you'd be hard-pressed to find out how the money was spent," said Paul Vallas, the city's school superintendent when Obama chaired the Chicago Annenberg Foundation from 1995 to 1999. Seattle,
"I am saying that there are more people who self-identify as Democrats than those who self-identify as Republicans. " Although there is some evidence of that assertion, there is also enough contrary evidence that it makes summary judgement unwise. I would point you most notably to the great difficulty Democrat candidates for President have in garnering 50 percent of the popular vote even in victory, and the lack of a similar difficulty among Republican Presidential candidates. Thus are your suppositions and conclusions on which they are based undermined by a bit of salutary skepticism. Posted by: Olaf Krell at October 21, 2008 09:54 PM (fL104) 64

Mike Gallagher is the only talky I've heard actually say that Powell's endorsement of Barry, being non-sensical at BEST, makes him a racist. Comprehensive? Sure. If that's really the case (I suspect that number was pulled out of someone's ass) then I'd say the idiots deserve the president they are going to get. Unfortunately the rest of us are going to suffer too. Posted by: Angry Beaver at October 22, 2008 12:22 AM (lFbsc) 69
The argument that I think hits the hardest (notwithstanding all the other creepy/scary shit in his past & glaring lack of achievement) is his own words. Specifically, "Spread the Wealth(tm)." NOBODY wants to hear that the government is going to keep taking and taking money that is theirs and lining the pockets of deadbeats and other assorted leeches. Obama's plan, his entire belief system, is centered around taking what's yours and giving it to someone else. I don't know of one single person that wants to be taxed more...especially when it is going to some slug who doesn't pull their load. It's a boiling blood inducer. Olaf:
So you concede my point? You might be looking at 1980 - 2004. You seem to be forgetting about 2006, when the Republican Party got its collective asses handed to them. Oh, and Bush didn't just get less than 50% against Gore. He got less votes than Gore. Bush has obviously been bad for your party (again, see 2006). And now with you guys turning your backs on your own intellectual base in favor of the very Joe-Sixpack wing of your party that delivered Bush to us in the first place, you have truly fucked yourselves. Powell, Buckley, Noonan, Smerconish, Parker, Brooks .... You don't see defections like this from respected democrats. There is a reason for that. These people trusted the base when the base said George W. Bush is one of us and will make an excellent President. Sarah Palin is a redux of that kind of thinking. (She shops at Walmart, she likes to hunt). Talk about identity politics at its most banal. I am pretty convinced that the “crisis” that Biden is aluding to (twice) is Iran attacking Israel and the “unpopular response” he’s predicting Obama will make if elected President is to do nothing. I thought I needed to share this with someone who can get it out there better than I can Posted by: DAve at October 23, 2008 12:17 AM (cbFgj) Posted by: DAve at October 23, 2008 12:21 AM (cbFgj) 74
