| It's Not Just the Kos Plan [someone]It's official policy. Geraghty's "Obi-Wan" tells us:"Believe me, there is someone in the Obama campaign who is deathly afraid of the 'McCain pulls even or goes ahead' poll." (And in Gallup, it was within 2 percent.) "That Obama strategist knows how much depends on the whole Chuck Schumer and Rahm Emanuel approach —.work with the media to demoralize conservatives, and keep the perception of a juggernaut going. But a day or two of a few bad polls, and that strategy backfires. The conservatives know they've still got a shot at this."Keep up morale, and don't buy into psyops or honest Eeyoreism. The election's still in the air -- and your efforts (ground game, making/funding vids, finding stories) could themselves swing this thing. Comments1
Wait, so Obama could actually lose, even though all his cheerleaders say otherwise? Why would they make that up?

I think that even a slightly big lead could play in our favor. If people who are newly energized, but usually wouldn't have voted, see/feel that Obama is "winning" they may decide to sleep in, or do something other than vote. As long as we vote no matter what the polls say and make sure those around us, that are voting for McCain/Palin, vote no matter what, we could still pull off a win.

I'm so confident McCain will win I'm sinking some serious Intrade cash into it.
If you compare 2004 polls to now, and if you look at some of the ridiculous results of the current polls... Bush won Missouri by 7 points in 2004 and it's leaning Obama now? North Carolina by 8 in 2004 and for Obama now? Totally off the wall absurd. If you are really that depressed about it, talk about missing your saving throw versus Democrat Psyops. EVERY election, they play this game. The difference is that this year, for some reason, many on our side are buying into it. Can't imagine why that is... o wait, yeah, the media has never been so consummately in the tank for a candidate in history. But wait. That can't have anything to do with it. It -must- be that this country is about to elect a radical left wing communist instead of an -extremely- centrist candidate. That happens all the time. Uh huh. Obama is really pushing the vote early theme, I guess he figures people can't take it back once the "October Suprise" hits (if it even does). This whole campaign season has been a roller coaster ride, but everyone I know is voting no matter what. I'm voting early, as soon as I figure out who is on our side even in the local non-partisan races like judges and school board. In the past I hadn't worried too much about those races, but this time I want to make sure I don't vote for even one democrat.

The only way 0 can win is by fraud and deception. Why else are he and Acorn and other far-left nuts furiously registering swarms of phony voters? Why else are they accusing 1 in 2 American voters of racism? Why have they and their press attack dogs turned on Palin and Joe the Plumber with such laser-guided viciousness? THE DO NOT BELIEVE they can win a straight-up contest. Conservatives need to put everything they've got into the most important election in 60-some years. They have to believe THEY can win. It was ALL CEOs from evil Wall Street and “deregulator” Phil Graham. CNN may as well change their name to Democrap Party propaganda machine.

New York Post
QUOTE: He [Obama] and most Democrats want to expand broadcasters' public-interest duties. One such measure would be to impose greater "local accountability" on them - requiring stations to carry more local programming whether the public wants it or not. The reform would entail setting up community boards to make their demands known when station licenses come up for renewal. The measure is clearly aimed at national syndicators like Clear Channel that offer conservative shows. It's a Fairness Doctrine by subterfuge. Obama also wants to relicense stations every two years (not eight, as is the case now), so these monitors would be a constant worry for stations. Finally, the Democrats also want more minority-owned stations and plan to intervene in the radio marketplace to ensure that outcome. It's worth noting, as Jesse Walker does in the latest Reason magazine, that Trinity Church, the controversial church Obama attended for many years, is heavily involved in the media-reform movement, having sought to restore the Fairness Doctrine, prevent media consolidation and deny licenses to stations that refuse to carry enough children's programming. Regrettably, media freedom hasn't been made an issue by the McCain campaign, perhaps because the maverick senator is himself no fan of unbridled political speech, as his long support of aggressive campaign-finance regulation underscores. But the threat to free speech is real - and profoundly disturbing. Brian C. Anderson is editor of City Journal and co-author, with Adam Thierer, of "A Manifesto for Media Freedom," just out from Encounter Books. "Fairness Doctrine" applied to blogs:As many threads AND COMMENTS on each side (as though only two!) or the blog is shut down. "Fairness Doctrine" applied to newspapers and networked newscasts: LOL. There is no such thing as "NEWS" reporting facts from the media today. Orson Scott Card writes of the death of journalism (HotAir link to The Meridian). Campaign Finance Reform according to the propaganda illusion premising any FAIRNESS DOCTRINE: All campaign contributions to every party go into one kitty from which all candidates get an equal slice of THE PIE. Yes, pie. Both candidates allude to pie. Beware the filling. Spread that wealth around baking a bigger pie. Have your pie and eat it, too. Sing a song of sixpence. Better serve pie than sluff off, "let them eat cake." But beware the filling. Posted by: maverick muse at October 21, 2008 06:54 AM (F1b/5) 15
#12: Love the nick!
Congrats on voting, and you're right, our families did not claw their way to America, the last hope on Earth, to see us let it go down because CNN tries to scare us with 'inevitable' Obama. The scare tactic is permeating everywhere and is transparently a concerted effort. Even though Obama is not surpassing Kerry or Gore's failed campaigns at this point, the 'inevitable' story is mentioned everywhere, and especially targeting Republicans. You would think the Obama cheerleading would be directed at lefties, because they enjoy reading it a lot more than righties... but TimeWarner (CNN)'s NASCAR.com website had this to say (in a completely random post about their championship): To their enormous credit, Biffle, Burton and Edwards are doing what they must to keep themselves in the race -- sort of like John McCain and Sarah Palin as the Presidential campaign winds down and every poll south of Alaska shows the Republicans' chances are virtually hopeless. Nonetheless, they must keep up the good fight, sending, in fact, potential First Husband (is that what he'd be called?) Todd Palin all the way to Martinsville to pump a few hands and issue a few positive words prior to Sunday's race. What in the hell is that? NASCAR is for rednecks and hillbillies, right? It's right leaning. No NASCAR columnist would dream of alienating conservatives... it's the target audience. But Time Warner is more interested in getting this message across to 'low information NASCAR voters' that Obama has it in the bag than they are interested in keeping their readers looking to them for information about the 'sport'. So out of the random blue comes this screed about how Mccain is campaigning just because he has no choice but to fight to failure. Fucking amazing. Well, the Fairness Doctrine probably has a clever workaround - so you get more local conservative hosts, more conservative minorities, etc.
They can't come out and say "no conservatives" so they couch it in terms of "local" and "minorities." I guarantee you there's fresh talent out there waiting to be launched. It might be an opportunity. Posted by: JB at October 21, 2008 07:09 AM (KlSTV) 21
Finally, the Democrats also want more minority-owned stations and plan to intervene in the radio marketplace to ensure that outcome.
The FCC has been doing that for several decades now. They have generated up an entire new cottage industry now for granting licenses to minorities and then the minorities sell them for huge profit to corporate interests.
So what you wind up with is the creation of a new “market” where the people with “influence”, minorities in this case, are given a government privilege which they can then sell to the highest bidder. In the end there are no more “minority owned” stations than there were to begin with; only a few more rich fat cats and the “aggrieved race baiters” can scream for even more licenses”.

Barack Obama is the Ron Burgundy of politics; hopeless without a teleprompter, stuck on himself, a cardboard cutout propped up by people working behind the scenes. Sarah Palin is Veronica Corningstone, a smart chick who threatens the alpha male. When SNL introduces her as “Tits McGee,” she calmly corrects, “I’m Sarah Palin. Okay, just listened to a caller on my local (XM syndicated) talk show say that Rep. internals have Mac up by 7 in Ohio and taking PA 51-38. WTF? Can that be possible? External polling shows almost the opposite in PA, but he claims that they are purposefully drastically oversampling Philadelphia. The Rep internals are a closer attempt to emulate actual voting patterns. No sourcing on the caller -- he just said he had access to the internals and the host didn't question him.
I know that my fine state was much much closer when the votes were counted the last two times than any of the polls could admit, but can this really be the case? I'd think that if this were true, you'd actually want to, like, counter the media and big polling firm claims with your own info in the last couple of days before the election in order to prevent turnout suppression (or to suppress the other side). Has anyone worked at a level inside a campaign that you know the agreements governing internals? Are they paid for under a release restriction or somethin? I'm not giving up. I'll be at the voting booth November 4th if I'm above ground. There was never a question about that, no matter how gloomy it may look.
But I want to raise a question that has been posed by others earlier but maybe in a different light. Just suppose on November 5th that The One wasn't the one after all. What if Obama loses? There is, in fact, a possibility the coronation may not go off as plan. McCain is showing an amazing holding power considering everything that has been thrown at him. In fact, some polls are showing McCain gaining strength especially in states he needs to carry. This election appears to be coming down to who is willing to go to the polls. What will be tragic November 5th is if McCain loses by slim margins. It will indicate that a lot of conservatives got snowed by the hype and stayed home. Don't be a stay-home ninny this time around. This election is critical. McCain may not be the ideal candidate but do you want four years of 24/7 Democrat Whine and Disaster? Posted by: prairiemain at October 21, 2008 08:56 AM (uDqa7) 51

Actually, it would not surprise me if Republican internals did show McCain ties or leads where the public polls show him trailing: 1. Public polls are worthless propaganda paid for by the highest bidder... and, uh, who would that be? 2. It is the only logical explanation for the fact that McCain is not only not panicking, but acting like steady-as-she-goes will win it. I just made the mistake of looking at the 2004/ 2008 electoral college polls. I should not have done that. If the polls are right, and I hope they are not. McCain has to win all the toss up and two or three dem leaners to get to 270. I just find it hard to believe when you dive into the poll questions that so many people have more favorable opinion of obama; that McCain has run a dirty campaign; yet at the same time more people think higher taxes is bad for the economy. It doesn't compute. So do people vote based on who they like, or who will let them keep there money? Posted by: spypeach at October 21, 2008 09:12 AM (QwWKI) 55
I don't know about PA internals per se, but I have to say, where I live in Chester County is usually half-and-half Dem/Rep lawn signs -- but right now (as in just this past week or so!) it's almost ALL McCain/Palin or "Dems for McCain" signs! I've never seen the like! People will have Dem local signs but then a McCain sign!
Even in the boro (West Chester) there is a good amount of McCain signage - that is normally 100 percent Dem, and really really liberal. The polls are so, so cooked. They do this for PA elections all the time btw to ensure that us "outsiders" don't bother to vote. It makes me ill to think that Axelrod, after nearly destroying (or actually destroying?) Philadelphia with Street's reelection mess, could pull the same bull on the WHOLE country. It's scary! I managed to get the hell out of Philly, but now where will I go? Colombia? Canada? How can they determine a “vote” has issues? I can see registrations with issue but votes are anonymous. #56: I just heard...on the radio about the Palin motorcade being stopped by O’Bama supporters en route to her next speech. ...the motorcade had to wait while police cleared the street to allow them to pass (in Colorado). ... “no charges were brought and no arrests were made”. I just wanted to scream; why the fuck not? They can block a public highway to interfere with free speech rights in a political campaign and there are NO FUCKING CONSEQUENCES. If you or I went out and blocked the road for ANY reason we would be in jail. Damn straight we would. Stopping the motorcade of a Prez or VP candidate must have had the Secret Service folks in fits! But clearly the law is enforced differently for Dems. Posted by: sf at October 21, 2008 09:44 AM (EsQly) 65
don_erico,
I seriously doubt Obama has bought all the time available. Had he done so, I imagine the FCC would be able to step in, at any rate. Did Colin Powell really have an effect? He's just another Bush pal who isn't a fan of Mccain. Powell did get in a few of the slimy myths (such as Mccain being responsible for the Muslim slur, or whatever else came up in the Democrat primary), and that sucks, but most voters already heard all that crap. Powell was already hated by the left. He's the one who told the world we knew EXACTLY where all the WMDs were. Sure, we all assumed Saddam still had that stuff (and of course, it must have wound up somewhere), but Powell is the one who overpromised in an amazingly stupid way. Hell, he's the guy who told us Saddam and Al Qaida were close allies (he's right on that count, but no one accepts that). Now the right hates him for even more obvious distortions of fact. Sure, teh left appreciated his betrayal of the GOP, but they don't like him. Powell is certainly entitled to his opinion, as a heroic man in many respects, but it's obvious he's completely wrong. Powell endorsed Ted Stevens and Obama.,, I'm not impressed with that. Posted by: Shill at October 21, 2008 09:45 AM (8jYMc) Posted by: spypeach at October 21, 2008 09:46 AM (QwWKI) 67
This letter from the Clinton Camp on Obama's vote suppression/trickery during the caucuses was linked at HillBuzz - wow, I found it to be an eye-opener - sorry if it's old!

Yeah ill vote. Happily push the button for a straight R ticket, even in bluest of blue Philly where it will mean nothing. Im not fooling myself- if McCain/Palin pull this one off it will be a miracle of biblical proportions
Posted by: TMF at October 21, 2008 09:49 AM (waaUg) 69
TMF, your vote in Philly means a HELL of a lot. You're in a swing state, and even if your more local elections go dem, every red vote puts pressure on your reps to be smart fiscally.
And while it will be a miracle if anyone wins with so much media bias and fraud, Mccain is right on track to win. He's behind in the bullshit polls like Bush was the last two elections. In other words, Mccain is precisely where he would be if he were winning. Posted by: Shill at October 21, 2008 10:00 AM (8jYMc) 70
For example, TMF, I have a lot of friends who work for a Congressman who is in a Red Texas district and has been reelected over and over. He still really cares when the local liberals get mad at him. He still moderates his Conservative stances somewhat when the libs call attention to it. He tries to get his right wing ideas through without being overbearing, even though there is no way he's going to lose an election.
When we all look at it, one vote almost never turns an election, so none of our votes mattered alone. But that couldn't be farther from the truth. We owe it to eachother and our country to do what you're doing, and vote despite anything we're told and whatever the odds are of winning. Posted by: Shill at October 21, 2008 10:06 AM (8jYMc) 71
56,
That story should have gone "There were no arrests made and no charges filed, but that's because we're scraping them off the undercarriage of the Secret Service escorts for Gov. Palin." Posted by: BrandonInBatonRouge at October 21, 2008 10:26 AM (iBqpM) 72
Zogby has obama +8. He has gained 5 points in 2 days.
That is literally unbelievable. No event can account for such a change. It has to be an artifact of the polling. And that tells me that their margin of error is not +/- 3.5 points, but more like +/- 5 points, probably more. They're either committing malpractice or they're fucking with us. Posted by: lmg at October 21, 2008 10:27 AM (A/vgC) 73
OK, I found some more detail on CNN (if you can believe them). It seems that the motorcade didn’t stop because the police pulled them out of the way first. According to the story they do not know who the“protestors were because they worse masks, but the cops are “looking for them”.
Now, that makes a lot of sense since the cops “pulled” them out of the way but did not catch them. I guess CNN/AP thinks their average reader is really stupid…..hummmm. I remain convinced that the mainstream media continue at this game as nothing more than a propaganda machine. If McCain (any Republican these days) was ahead 90-10, the media would be touting the story "his polls are slipping badly" or "he is worried about obama's recent surge", etc, etc. Couple that with the ludicrous exit polls that will undoubtedly say obama is winning (recall the John Kerry exit polls) and the television election night coverage, and they will probably want to annouce by 6PM that it's in the bag for barryo. Personally, I'd like to see election night coverage dropped completely. We wake up the next day, and the announcement is made. Period. No influence whatsoever allowed on election eve by the media. So what's the deal with all the JV studs having to do all the posting today? Where's that fuckin' Ace at? Hanging out naked down by the train station with an awl up his ass?

Black Orchid, I am seeing the same bizarre phenomenon in Summit County, Ohio (think Akron - slowly decaying while re-electing the same D mayor for 20 years) yards with the assorted local D sign collections - judges, county prosecutor, county executive - and a McCain-Palin sign. Boys and girls, this thing is CLOSE and far from over. At this point it is not enough to vote - get a sign, a bumpersticker, a cap, a shirt - we need to let the others of us see that there are more of us. Don't let the MSM convince them that they are alone.
