Joe Biden: Elect Obam And The World Will Test Him UPDATE: Link To Audio Added

On the same day Colin Powell's endorsement is supposed to end the worries about Obama's inexperience (according to none other than Newt Gingrich), Joe Biden was reminding people how dangerous it will be to elect the inexperienced Obama.

"It will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy. The world is looking. We're about to elect a brilliant 47-year-old senator president of the United States of America. Remember I said it standing here if you don't remember anything else I said. Watch, we're gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy."

It's like an inversion of Kerry's Global Test. But hey Obama is bright, clean and articulate so he'll probably do okay, right? And you can trust Biden's judgment about Obama and his ability to handle a crisis because...

"I've forgotten more about foreign policy than most of my colleagues know"

Gee a novice and a jackass at the helm of the US government in a time of crisis, what could go wrong?

UPDATE: Cuffy found the audio. Enjoy Joe in all his glory.

6 Colin Powell loved the inexperienced and completely unserious GW Bush in 2000, and got to be a top advisor for his troubles.

Colin Powell loves the inexperienced and completely marxist Obama in 2008, and gets to be a top advisor (or so he thinks) for his troubles.

Who the hell wouldn't?  If I were Putin, Achmedinijad, Kim Jong-Il, or hell even Steven Harper, I'd certainly press the envelope to see what I could get away with.  They'll be saying in their minds:  "New guy needs to be broken in..."

20 The other issue with Joe's speech is he's got a big fucking mouth. Both campaigns have been given information from the WH, and I am sure some of it is highly classified, and here's Joe on the campaign trail dropping subtle hints. Both BO and Joe cannot be trusted with running our country. Period.

I really believe BO and big fucking mouth Joe are going to lose. Think about it, six days ago, BO's national average was 8.2, now it's 4.8. Marc Lemont Hill, far left-wing commentator on Fox, a BIG Obama supporter, feels very strongly that if Obama is not up by 6-8 points nationally on Nov. 4, he will more than likely lose the election.

Also most state polls are done by local papers and highly tilted towards the Dems. A Pennsylvania poll had Obama up by 12, down from 16 a week ago. Here's their breakdown: 54% Dem, 40% Rep, and 6% Ind.

Keep the faith, people.

22 Powell prevailed in 1992 when he argued to leave Saddam Hussein in power. Because he won that argument, the Shia and Kurds suffered massive attacks from Saddam's forces....which then forced us to protect those populations for over a decade, and at an expense of tens of billions of dollars. Surely even Newt Gingrich remembers our having to devote our Air Force to patrolling the no fly zones?

Powell's judgement has been demonstrably poor since 1992. I was honestly shocked that GW Bush courted him back in 2000.

Posted by: funky chicken at October 20, 2008 12:04 PM (xyyHG)

23 I believe both candidates have been receiving intelligence briefings since the nominations were secured. Biden is probably referring to an attack on Israel by Iran with Russia threatening to get involved if we move to protect our ally. Barack will back down and leave Israel to her own defenses and emasculate the U.S., hence the disappointment.

28 Uncle Joe is wrong in this instance. Something will most assuredly happen, and continue to happen as long as Obama is president, but it won't be a crisis.
A crisis implies Obama would do something about it, he won't.
We had a crisis of Islamic Jihadism the entire time Clinton was president. Except for when his ass was on the line during the Lewinsky crisis, do you see what Dems call a crisis now, Clinton did shit about it. Obama will do the same. If you think Obama will issue an order which calls for the killing of anyone except Caucasian  people you are nuts. And yes Afgans are Caucasians. Obama might send a crap load of aid to his Cousin Odinga though. One thing you can put in the bank for an Obama presidency right now. Once Bin laden is dead the only shots fired by an American Soldier will be in retreat or self defense.

My husband spent a whole lot of time between Iraq 1 and Iraq 2 over in the middle east. Why did we have such a heavy military presence in Saudi Arabia from 1993 to 2002? Because GHW Bush listened to Colin Powell instead of Norman Schwartzkopf.

Gingrich is a creep and a coward for not bringing that up. So much for his being a historian or expert on national security or budget hawk.

I like how he neglects to mention the fact that he has been wrong on just about every major foreign policy issue in the last 30 years.

Then again he is right that an Obama administration will have to deal with a major international crisis within the first six months of being elected. I can pretty much guarantee that If Obama is elected the first thing that will happen is that Israel will bomb the crap Iran's Nuclear program because they will have no confidence in Obama to deal with it.

42 "I think there is also a whole group of white Republicans who are telling their friends at the country club that I'm voting for McCain, and they're going to go...vote for Obama"

Washington media types love trotting out this old hobgoblin. Country club democrats outnumber republicans by a factor of 50-1 in California.

San Francisco Olympic Club is a prime example.

"The Olympic Club enjoys the distinction of being America's oldest athletic Club. Comprised of more than 5,000 active members"

 San Francisco Bohemian Club.

Its clubhouse is located at 624 Taylor Street in San Francisco. Today, the club has a diverse membership of many prominent local and global leaders, ranging from artists and musicians to leading businessmen. Founded in 1872, it was modeled on New York's prominent Century Club.

52 Actually, it'll start the day he's inaugurated, and Putin and the Iranians won't even factor into it.

I was reading the Sun-Times this morning (OK, I was in a Starbucks and there was nothing else to read except the coffee labels) and all is not sunshine in the Land of Obama. Laura Washington, the Sun-Times'  other Angry Black Female columnist, is complaining that Obama isn't talking about race enough.  (Yes, really.  She meant that he's not talking about black-people-in-general enough).  Anyway, she says, if Obama wins he is going to be so in debt to the black population, and what's he planning to do about it?

Then there was another columnist who complained that Obama was insufficiently gay-friendly, and what was he going to do for them?

So while we're waiting for Russia and Iran to get even more horrible than they are now, we can watch the hissy-fits and cat-fights among the party faithful.

An Obama presidency (should it come to pass) will make the Carter years look like the Age of Pericles.

59 Biden is just stating the obvious; the reason other world leaders want Obambi so much is because they know he'll turn the United States back into their bitch, just like Clinton did.

The rest of the world sees themselves as George and the United States as Lennie -- strong, but dumb, and needing someone to lead them around. They already know Obambi's a nitwit, given his willingness to put people who firebomb houses with sleeping children in them in charge of education.

75 I do believe that is one of the most ignorant things I have ever heard.  That statement alone disqualifies Joe Biden from seeking any office where one has to take the oath to defend the constitution.

I don't know who is more stupid, Joe Biden for making that statement, or the general populace for not understanding what that statement means to our allies and enemies.

77 Well, Uncle Joe Biden, after 9/11 you forgot that Iran was about to purchase $160 million in military hardware from Russia when you suggested sending them "no strings attached" a check for $200 million.

So even if you have forgotten more about foreign policy than most of your colleagues know, it is what you have forgotten about it that is of concern. Like giving money to radical Islamic regimes = bad.

If I were a finacier of any note whatsoever, I would be doing all humanly possible to help MAC/PALIN, msybe theyre keeping a low profile b/c the WALL ST meltdown and AIG shenanigans make them less favorable to voters right now..

but we need party leadershipon thew GOP side to rally the troops, rally!! hell I'm doing just that cuase, you know even if things are in a recession I would like to keep MY pot to piss in, Obummer will try to take it and give it to someone else....

I followed the suggestions ACE posted, and we PUMAS are working our hearts out, but I think we need to mobilize folks to help drive the elderly to vote in areas of Obamanation theft and thuggery ie NC, MO, MI,OH,  FL to name a few...

Someone mentioned that Israel would strike Iran right after the election if Barack wins.  And we might even help them?  Do you think that Bush would do that or do you think Bush is worried about his "legacy"?

If Israel did go in it wouldn't be right after the election anyway because winter is not exactly the best time to conduct that sort of precision operation. The reality is that late february would probably be the first opportunity weather wise to conduct such an operation unless they strike right now (Now wouldn't that be one hell of an October surprise). As for Bush ordering a strike I cant see that happening before he leaves office unless Iran does something that forces him to do so.

100 Foreign policy is the one area in one can be said to have a lot of experience -- at failing.

Unlike, say, an experienced plumber, if you fail too often at foreign policy, you get to come back and keep trying your wrong ideas.

Posted by: AmishDude at October 20, 2008 02:53 PM (T0NGe)

101 Watch, we're gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy.

We can argue about whether this will be a foreign enemy-generated, friend-generated or (for the most paranoid of us) Obama Administration-generated crisis, whether it'll happen overseas or on our shores, but you can bet that no matter what the origins or venue, the crisis will distill down to the following:

Dead Americans.

Time to check the Weather Channel for some history on prevailing winds in my area....

Posted by: IllTemperedCur at October 20, 2008 02:54 PM (Ds4I5)

102 If Obama is elected there will be an international crisis but it won't matter.  As one UK politicians wife said a while back "It's just that shitty little country Israel."  It'll just be the Joooos that die.  No harm, no foul for OBarky.  The administration will find someway to blame Israel for their own demise at the hands of the terrorists.

Posted by: MrsPaulsFishSticks at October 20, 2008 03:00 PM (iYbLN)

103 Obviously very troubling to any supporter of Israel.

This is telegraphing some very specific intentions.

It is plain that in suggesting  people will wonder if we're doing the right thing, he is revealing that in private conversations, the decision has already been made to abandon Israel to its devices vis a viz Iran.

The result will be the Russians moving nuclear weapons  into Iran to counter the Israeli threat; and an Obama administration abstaining, rather than vetoing, a Russian-backed resolution to make it virtually impossible for Israel to defend itself.

Also, Taiwan will fall.   This is terribly troubling, and I suspect we'll see foreign policy disaster on the order of Carter and the hostages, or Kennedy and  the Cuban missiles in very short order if Obama's elected.

When you get elected to the Senate the leadership makes you take a mouth-full of marbles. Each time you come to the Whip with a good idea you can take one marble out. After a while you have few enough marbles in your mouth that you can make yourself understood to other Senators. Once you lose all your marbles, the press starts listening to you.

108 Whatever the "test" may be, Obama will fail it. The result will be that those countries that depend on the US either defending them or acting as "world cop" will realize they are on their own. They will not, however, stand up and fight for themselves or rebuild their militaries. They will appease and bargain with our common enemies, enriching them and putting us at an even further disadvantage. There is no good outcome here.

124 Players are always fighting in Runescape. It’s one of the reasons the game is so popular, being able to go to another world, attack monsters, and take their treasure . It’s adventure. It’s excitement. It’s fun. Especially through outstanding account.
And one of the best parts about combat (melee combat) is that it is by far the cheapest of all three combat methods.Ranging costs buy runescape gold because it requires the use of arrows. Magic costs even more because it requires lots and lots of runes. But melee combat is relatively cheap. The only and runescape money for sale you must spend is on your weapons and armor. Once you buy those things, you don’t have to keep buying more and more stuff to keep fighting. As you gain levels in Runescape, you will be able to buy better and better equipment. The better you get, the better the weapons and armor you can use, which makes you better able to keep your buy runescape accounts leveling-up.
And while we are getting the basics out of the way, let’s take a second to learn about the world of Runescape. Or rather, the worlds.

Thank :-) Balint.
