"There is no story. There is no story. There is no story here."

When a nonresident Obama campaign worker, temporarily in Ohio to get out defraud the vote, illegally signs up to vote and then does vote, yes, Obama Campaign Spokesman Who Tries to Intimidate College Reporters, there goddamn well is a story.

How many of your employees did this, Obama?

Reynolds is covering for them and insisting this is legal. Is that what the Obama campaign informed these workers? That they should go ahead and lie about their residency, because it's "legal"?

Hot Air.

I'd Like to Know... if Hillary Clinton's workers were informed properly of the law, and that just because they were working in a state for a month they were not entitled to vote.

1 Wow a somalian immigrant was trying to get my Mom to register to vote the other day.  The lady (in her early 20's) told my mom that she should vote for Obama.  She said she couldn't vote because she hasn't gotten her citizenship yet.

She was definitely not some schemer though.  My mom said she told her about Obama's record on abortion and that she looked surprised at this.  Maybe my Mom was just being a bit naive here thinking that she got through to this girl, but in any case, she wasn't some partisan hack.  She was simply brainwashed.

Is it illegal to use non-citizens?  I told my Mom that she should have gotten all her info and tried to keep in touch with her, but she hadn't thought of that at the time.

2 Well, at least there are some college kids who aren't drinking the Obama Kool-Aid. Be careful though kids, keep up this kind of work and you'll never get a job in the media.

3 Charge each and every perpetrator of this with 6 million cases of voter fraud.  If somebody commits voter fraud, they disenfranchise every single voter.

They should be criminally prosecuted on 6 million counts and there should be a class-action suit as well, with every single registered voter in Ohio as a potential litigant.

Posted by: AmishDude at October 17, 2008 08:49 PM (T0NGe)

4 Kind of pathetic that a bunch of college kids with a showstring budget and handheld video cameras can break this story, but our vaunted MSM with its vast resources can't or won't.  Who am I kidding?  Of course they can, but they won't.

Posted by: BB at October 17, 2008 08:51 PM (C5AlV)

5 Non-citizens can be volunteers and, if they have a green card, can give money.  They can also be paid by campaigns, they just can't vote.

6 I am beyond being concerned that someone is NOT going to get to the bottom of this shit before it is too late.

Posted by: kahall at October 17, 2008 08:57 PM (ZCT0i)

7 MSM is not concerned that Obama did not vett his campaign chiefs and his campaign committing voter fraud....they have REAL issues to deal with like camping out at Joe the Plumbers house and real vetting.

8 Look what happened to our financial system when it lost confidence and then imagine what could - nay will - happen when confidence in our electoral process is lost.

This is the most dangerous time in America since the 1860s...

I mean, wow, look at all the stories that are coming out of the woodwork and working themselves to go viral.

I read this article and these kids have a future in journalism.  It'll have to be for Fox though, because I just can't see anyone else hiring them.

Great article.  Ace I hope you'll keep us posted on any updates from these students.

16 She has him on record stating

"Reynolds said "Well he got here before October 4 right? So he will be here 30 days right? And he registered before Oct 6 right? So he has complied with the law. There is no story."

Reynolds laughed and said he was "well versed"... that I didn't need to refer him to the law. He repeatedly told me that he didn't see any story here."

The LAW

"All registrars and judges of elections, in determining the residence of a person offering to register or vote, shall be governed by the following rules:

(C) A person shall not be considered to have gained a residence in any county of this state into which the person comes for temporary purposes only, without the intention of making such county the permanent place of abode."

I agree that Hannity, Rush, etc should be covering this as well.

30 I know MANY HRC supporters who traveled and stayed out of town and not a single one registered to vote there, it didnt occur to anyone that I know of. I will ask if anyone ever even raised it as something NOT to do. I now how careful the camapign was to make sure everyone understood how much money they were allowed to spend on travel expenses and what was and wasnt deductible.

Hillary studied Alinsky and rejected his methods whereas Obummer embraced them. Sadly she culodnt do anything, the DEM leadership had both arms tied behind her back, she couldnt even stand up for herself without being crucified by our 'liberal' party for workers and woman, gimme a break, pfft!

33

As a conservative, I feel dirty proposing something like this, but here goes:

States like Ohio should enact a 75% income tax just for the faux-citizens who attempt to register to vote in their state.  Seems to me that once they register to vote, they have waived their right to contest that they are not subject to local taxation.

That might shut 'em up.  Of course, many of these maggots probably don't have jobs and income anyway . . .

Posted by: Scott at October 18, 2008 01:56 AM (WTNlH)

34 Another thing to emphasize and bring to fore in the public consciousness is the composition of the workers. Some of them reportedly have been felons, some of whom specifically prosecuted for ID theft. The public doesn't know to whom they are providing personal information.

Furthermore, what kind of chain of custody is there? The application can pass through who knows how many hands between field collection and the State Voter Registrar. That's another point ripe for abuse. The "helper" could be OK, but the "aggregator"/"transporter" may not be.

Third, what would stop criminals from dressing up like ACORN employees, or like any voter registration outfit for that matter, and just taking the personal data for themselves? How does one validate a registration employee? Demand to see a badge? Hah!

It's time to promote the many shortcomings and dangers of registration outside of government offices to discourage people from using those outsourced institutions. ID theft is a damn fine disincentive and the increased risks of it happening by using ACORN et al. will resonate with some and reduce these institutions' effectiveness. This is not "disenfranchisement." It is "protecting the voter."

Posted by: AnonymousDrivel at October 18, 2008 04:00 AM (0P9Uy)

35 Under Obama's view of the law, campaign workers could go from state to state to register and vote without violating the law. They have no conception of one person one vote (oh sorry that applies to republicans or maybe with republicans it's just one person, and the democrats will cast your vote for you so you don't do anything foolish like voting for a republican). I was a college student in a university town a couple of decades ago and it was clear, no voting for college students who otherwise weren't residents (permanent) of the city. Staying six months to go to school isn't sufficient residency for voting, otherwise those liberal rent control laws which require permanent residency of an apartment for you to benefit from, wouldn't have exceptions for students attending colleges. You can't have it both ways, that you are permanent to vote in an election in a town where you go to school, but that going to that foreign town isn't permanent enough for you to lose your liberal privilege of rent control.
