I call bullshit.

By now I've seen too many photos like this only to find out they were photoshopped. E.g., remember that giant boar supposedly killed by a kid?

I want real proof.

That was real. The dimensions of the boar were just exagerrated as it went around the internet. Discovery even did a special on it and said that Hogzilla isn't that uncommon in the wild.

14 Everyone, I'm stopping political blog commenting and I want to wish you all the best with your election and your impending Marxist Overlord!

Don't rely to much on the theory he'll be easier to defeat in 2012: He won't. Defeat him now or he'll be in power for at least 8 years.

Finally, I leave you with a few paragraphs of amusing "good news" from another "dead animal":

Warmist Mea Culpa

From the Cjunk "wishful thinking" file:

In a surprising yet welcome move, most major North American and International news outlets today reported on the IPCC and Warmist admission that predictions of an ice-free arctic in 2008 were simply wrong. Furthermore, most MSM outlets quoted two studies that pointed to "winds" and "circulation", not global warming, as the likely causes of arctic ice depletion. Most surprising of all, was NASA's Dr. James Model Hansen, who told reporters, "I was wrong ... just simply wrong ... predicting an ice free 2008 was clearly hyperbole ... and for that, I apologize."

Even Al Gore got into the act, and expressed regret at fanning the flames of sensationalism ... while environmental groups around the world moved cautiously toward a more open view of the situation. Pepper Misty Leaf, of Arctic Ice Salvation stated, "We didn't realize it was the wind ... and now that wind dynamics are changing, we may see more ... not less ice in the near future ... polar bears will be happy!"

David Suzuki [Canada's pre-eminent environmental, publicity hound, and multiple mansion-owning scientist] even got into it when he told reporters that, "We knew it couldn't all have been attributed to Global Warming ... the models are, after all, only as good as the formulas and data that go into them. The planet is a solar driven beast ... and we need to look a lot closer at the the sun."

But the final word goes to the IPCC, which plans on revising its outlooks. "Someone, somewhere, is not telling the truth ... either that, or we just don't know as much about the climate as we thought," said IPCC head, Rajendra Pachauri's. He added, that since he believes in reincarnation, he intends on pursuing the matter even into another life.

There's more.

There is no way I would be in grizzly country without a high caliber hand gun as a back up.  Particularly if one of my sons was with me.  Sadly, I suppose the same could be said for being on the streets of the inner-city.

http://fwp.mt.gov/bearid/test.htm

(...wooden arrows work best)

Posted by: Fritz at October 16, 2008 07:04 PM (UU4Hu)

44 For three days they'd bugled, cow-called and worked the woods, hoping to shoot a big bull. Fall is when elk breed. Big bulls bugle to challenge other bulls in hopes of breeding more cow elk. Hunters imitate the sounds in hopes of luring the testosterone-amped bulls into range.

Screw these guys. They were preying on horny bull elk. A poor elk can't even get laid with out getting an arrow in the ass.

48 I like bears as much as anyone but Grizzlies are (except maybe polar bears) the the most dangerous bear and one of the most dangerous animals outside Africa you can meet face to face. Forgetting their ferocity, their mass makes a mockery of many weapons. Even if this guy is an expert marksman he has got to have pulled off one of the luckiest shots of all time. to have killed this thing with a single arrow.

PS, If you ever kill a bear and think about eating it (and you're not an Inuit, who expose their kids to Polar bear meat during the weaning process, conferring immunity - antibodies via breast milk, antigens via oral exposure) cook the living hell out of it. Bears have a dangerous version of trichomonas that can be fatal. This strain of the parasite is even resistant to freezing.

I've been a hardcore bowhunter for years and am not afraid to admit I probably would have crapped my pants.

Not sure about the specifics of Wyoming hunting regs, but it's usually illegal to carry a firearm while bowhunting. It's also frequently illegal to carry a firearm in some federal and state wilderness areas. It certainly was when I lived in Alaska back in the 80's.  I carried one when I was backpacking, fishing, or bowhunting anyway. I'd rather pay a fine than be eaten.
