| Drew Griffin Reassignment Watch: 8000 Suspect Registrations in Philly; Confrontation with ACORNVid below. From Hot Air, which has the transcript if you prefer that. As ACORN says-- fraudulent voting registrations are "not the point." The point is... empowerment of the dead or Mickey Mouse or something.Comments1
Fuckers.

Michelle Malkin has a disturbing story about voter fraud and being caught red handed.
This is no longer a case of “registration” problems; it is now a major felony Posted by: Vic at October 15, 2008 02:52 PM (b1ysY) 5
Wow, CNN is wasting valuable BO worship airtime to cover actual news? WTF?
Posted by: Fred R. at October 15, 2008 02:52 PM (SmaMG) 6
As much respect as I now have for Mr. Griffin, I have to wonder who it is at CNN that is allowing him to air this and/or pursue these stories.
Posted by: ECM at October 15, 2008 02:52 PM (q3V+C) 7
Drew Griffin is doing yeoman's work. And good important post.
However, as per your headline, Ace, was that really a "confrontation" with ACORN? Or more like a normal media interview. I was expecting things thrown if only sharp expletives, and it wasn't there. Posted by: Christoph at October 15, 2008 02:53 PM (hawOV) 8
All I want is one of those ACORN for Obama shirts. Those are awesome.
Posted by: SalvucciFumbles at October 15, 2008 02:54 PM (e7ua4) 9
Just exactly what would be the media slobber/seizure/shit scale from 0-100 if a Republican were caught registering cattle, llamas and the cast of "World's Greatest Redneck Weddings" in, say, Texas? RICO them now. RICO them hard. And arrest the Secretary of State in Ohio while you're at it for good measure. Posted by: Circa (Insert Year Here) at October 15, 2008 02:55 PM (B+qrE) 10
I have to think that there are at least a few honest journalists left out there who know what's happening and are ready to break from the pack. Brit Hume basically called BO a liar on his show yesterday re: Acorn denials. Posted by: Fred R. at October 15, 2008 02:59 PM (SmaMG) 11
Griffin better watch his back. Look around the corner.

My daughter, who is a schoolbus driver in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, received a message from her Union, urging its members to register to vote in the USA election. She mentioned it as really strange.

hang on. "acorn for obama"? does this alone not seem suspicious and, erm, out of balance?
shouldn't they at least pretend strive to be non-partisan? and didn't some acorn talking head recently swear on a stack of little red books voter registration applications acorn is not endorsing anybody? Posted by: fireweed at October 15, 2008 03:06 PM (LDJOh) 15
The latest moonbat dishonest talking points attempt to analogous ACORN’s fraud by comparing it to the 2003 California recall. They say that 1.65 million signatures were collected and 1.36 deemed valid, therefore 300,000 signatures could not be verified and this is par for the course. But au contraire! The Sect. of State never said 300,000 signatures could not be verified.
What he did say is that legally 897,156 signatures were required but they need about 1.2 million to ensure that there are enough valid ones. Once the state has a legally sufficient number of signatures they stop verifying. One, because it is unnecessary, and two, it costs money and wastes time to verify unnecessary signatures. OTH, all voter registrations must be verified. Posted by: dave at October 15, 2008 03:08 PM (MKM35) Posted by: Warden at October 15, 2008 03:10 PM (QoR4a) 17
Did Axelrod forget to pay off CNN this month or something? Is this a threat to the Obama campaign that CNN expects to be treated as first among media equals or they might actually make an effort at honesty?
Did someone at CNN make an executive decision that they're better off having a McCain White House knowing that CNN's on their team, rather than just being one of the thousands of media outlets scrambling to lick President Obama's scrotum? Are there backstairs rumblings of serious bad news for Obama and CNN's just putting up their umbrella against what they see as an upcoming fecal downpour? Posted by: mrkwong at October 15, 2008 03:11 PM (G8Eo0) 18
We are turning into a third world country. The big O is just going to expedite that process.
I swear to fucking God, this country would be better off in the long run if we would just fight it out for a couple of years. That fucker who was talking to ACORN, the guy who was suggesting it was the right wing, he would be among of the first to go, self loathing ugly bastard. At what point did we move away from prosecuting these types of people, at what point did we become so complacent!!??! Posted by: Uniball at October 15, 2008 03:12 PM (27iEn) 19
This makes me absolutely furious, but hopeful at the same time. The ACORN genie is now about half-way out of the bottle. It's one thing to have Kurtz, O'Reilly, and Hume talking about this. It's another matter altogether to see such balanced coverage on CNN. Now if we can just kick over the ACORN rocks covering up their complicity in the mortgage mess. There is still time to put the whole rotten package together and tie it securely to the Obamessiah's rather tarnished halo. Mac needs to start connecting those dots tonight. "I have to think that there are at least a few honest journalists left out there...."
The key word being "few". Posted by: Christoph at October 15, 2008 03:21 PM (hawOV) 21
It seems that for a non-partisan, voter-harvesting outfit, the number of potential harvesters of the McCain persuasion are somewhat underrepresented. Obviously @BAMA shirts and "Vote for the One" ("Yes We Can," actually) buttons are indicative of McCain's racism somehow and ACORN is wholly justified in sending out their troops wearing appropriate attire to cultivate the right message for both would-be form-providers and form-fillers.
The interviewed chairwoman's middle name is "Brazen." Google it. Posted by: AnonymousDrivel at October 15, 2008 03:22 PM (sI5Ho) 22

Perhaps I'm too cynical, but I wouldn't be surprised if CNN is now running with these stories because they believe the race is over now so they can pretend to be giving the story straight up.
Posted by: Bilby at October 15, 2008 03:26 PM (8iDn7) 24
I've been wondering if one of the networks might break away if they sensed a possible sea change. Might be their only chance to try to regain some amount of credibility?
Posted by: Fred R. at October 15, 2008 03:29 PM (SmaMG) 25
Fred, I'm more inclined to believe they'll finally start reporting honestly after they believe it's too late to do McCain any good.

No no no....I call b.s. Drew Griffen says these homeless, drug addict, excon ACORN workers get paid by the registration, but our friend Scott levenson assured John Fund the other day, that they they most certainly don't do it that way. CNN ≈ ½ PUMA?
Or is this just a last minute effort to throw a bone to (at?) the wave of critics that is sure to come post-election '08? After spending months setting up Obama as the One and presumably creating an insurmountable lead (though I don't think that to be true), it must be safe now to do a story on generic voter fraud - emphasizing the "fraud" and not necessarily the "Team Obama" part of the equation, of course. Posted by: AnonymousDrivel at October 15, 2008 03:34 PM (sI5Ho) 28

In the next 3 weeks, there is a massive oppourtunity for some young, relatively unknown journalist to suddenly make a national name for themselves by reporting on Obama or investigating what's going on to pull off the scoop of the year. ACORN, Mahoney's cover up, Ayers, Wright...there's way too much shit around Obama that doesn't pass the smell test. And since their bosses won't do it, I'm thinking there's gonna be some aspiring Woodward and/or Bernstein that ends up bringing down the Obamanation. Posted by: El Kabong at October 15, 2008 03:38 PM (41KxF) 31
The Obama Network News reported this? How did that happen? Did Nobamas check to them bounce?

I wholeheartedly doubt this. I'm sure they believe that there is time enough to attempt to regain their lost credibility (yeah, right) between election day and inauguration day, so no way they would start this now. Mainly because Obama's support is as thin as tissue paper and it would not take much to destroy it. CNN knows this and would not chance blowing the election by coming out with this too soon if they were just looking to protect their reputation. I think this may either be some buyers remorse setting in on CNN's part or a concerted effort to take O down so Hillary has another shot in 2012. "We are turning into a third world country." Not exactly. We are turning into Cook County writ large. Call it "Cook Country". Where guns are illegal, the ballot is a joke, taxes are sky high, crime is soaring, businessmen and criminals both need go-betweens to interact with a corrupt government, and that government is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Party. O what a glorious future awaits us! Posted by: Brown Line at October 15, 2008 04:35 PM (OMiLl) 34
I ran into an Acorn "worker" today at lunch(at Chipotle), and I asked him if he was interested in registering Republicans as well as imaginary democrats. He gave me a hearty laugh, and then moved on to talk to a couple of immigrants eating at the tabel next to me.

Notice how the CNN video shows the ACORN worker that is leading the charge that these stores about voter registration fraud are attempts at "VOTER SUPRESSION".
Obama was not electable in Chicago when he pursued an electoral route through the traditional black political structure. He only became electable when he pursued the alliance with white progressives. Frontline made this case last night. You can watch the episode online. http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/choice2008/obama/ Posted by: Gabriel Sutherland at October 15, 2008 04:57 PM (AHrTm) 36

It's hard to believe the nation is on the verge of electing as President a disciple of Crook County. This is my hometown and the system here just barely holds together and literally could spark in a tribal warfare situation if the political structure were to crumble. Graduating this model to the Federal level is very alarming. Posted by: Gabriel Sutherland at October 15, 2008 05:00 PM (AHrTm) 37
