Shocker: Kathleen Parker, Christopher Buckley Plucked Out of Obscurity to Become Toast of Liberal Media

Oh, how happy they are to be part of the Smart Set!

Kathleen Parker demands to know -- seriously -- "Who's funding?" Palin's new hairdo and wardrobe.

As Ann Coulter said when confronted with the fact that Kathleen Parker had turned on Palin, "The Kathleen Parker? The Kathleen Parker?"

Yes, the Kathleen Parker, a seldom quoted not-quite-conservative columnist who is now reduced to hinting that Dark Forces paid for Palin's $200 haircut.

Buckley embed below the post. "You're a great novelist," The Man with the Thrill Up His Leg enthuses over the MSM's new favorite rara avis.

4 And don't forget that after Kathleen Parker got a bunch of nasty email for her column trashing Sarah Palin, she scurried off to whine about it in the Washington Fucking Post, i.e. the enemy.

And now she's whining about it on the Colbert show.

Frak her and the horse she rode in on.

8 Pretty much the same thing can be said for most of the columnists at National Review.  Other than a couple that write at the Corner... who fucking cares what they have to say?

Seriously... if National Review was a brand new publication with no reputation, nobody would read the piece of shit.  It is only its reputation that keeps it alive.

If you subscribe to it you are supporting this bullshit.

Bull-f*cking-sh*t!  If Chris Buckley is a Conservative, I'm a male prostitute in San Fransisco.  My ass, he's a Conservative.

>> The magazine itself is still quite good, I think.  Note how quickly they dropped him and put Steyn back.

The fact that they employed Buckley and employ Parker in the first place shows that they are not in touch with Conservatives.  Sure, they are trying to put out the fire now by getting rid of Buckley, etc, but what is clear is the fact that they do not understand the conservative movement at its core.

The people in charge there knew damn well who Buckley and Parker really were.  But they continued to syndicate them.

As far as some of the good writers there... well they would have no problem finding another place to write if NR lost all its subscribers.  Seriously... National Review is a place for the out-of-touch elistist Republicans that we just don't need.

If I could make the election be decided completely on negative associations of candidates--then I would.

There is no comparison between the people who Obama has associated with in his career and those McCain has associated with.

The REAL question is whether people really care about associations.  As far as that goes--we shall see on election day.

Yeah, I read the article. The best it can do is say Timmons worked with two other lobbyists (on something apparently unrelated to Iraq) who lobbied to have sanctions removed. It did not say Timmons lobbied to have the sanctions removed himself.

It's usually called "guilt by association", but you and the HuffPo seem to want to expand it to "guilt by associating with associates".

There's no story there. But there certainly is a strong whiff of McCarthyism.

Not quite the same as being pilloried for working directly with a terrorist who tried to kill U.S. Servicemen and felt it wasn't enough.

Dumbass.

59 Here's a leadership lesson for Mr. Buckley;

Every man I've ever seen promoted because someone thought they had "potential to be a great leader" failed. People whom I've seen promoted because they acted like a leader before they were promoted succeeded. I'm speaking from 20 years of military experience, and nearly 15 years as a civilian.

If Buckley is going to vote for Obama and then hope he grows into the position, he'll be disappointed. And we'll be screwed.

If Buckley/Parker were real conservatives, I can understand why they wouldn't be in love with McCain:  Campaign Finance, Comprehensive Immigration Reform, his generally sour demeanor towards the right, blah, blah, blah.

What I cannot figure out is how you square a conservative worldview with "Yeah, I'm pulling the Obama lever this November."  Unless you were frontin' the whole time.  Now that the conservative movement has seemingly hit a rough patch, I guess it's time for the rats to bail out of the ship.  I think a curt "peace out" is in order for all these fucktard faux-conservatives.

BTW-Diderot's Dog...your trolling for attention used to be sorta fun.  But now, it's just sad.  I gotta think your real life is pretty pathetic if getting your jollies off being spanked by right-wingers is your idea of a good time.  It'd be different if you actually had ideas and thoughts to debate us with.  That would actually be intersting.  But all you have is your tired attention whore shuck-n-jive that you've been dancing here since forever.

I know, I know...we're all idiots and you're a fucking genius.  Riddle me this though:  If we're so stupid, how come you like getting your balls wacked by us everytime you show up?  We're so far below your dizzying intellect that you can't resist getting anihilated by a bunch of conservative posters on a political blogger site.  Masochist, maybe?

63 Hey Diderot's dog.

Here's all McCain has to do: Say, "My friends, google "Timmons McCain", and see what comes up. Then google: Obama Ayers. Obama Wright, Obama ACORN, Obama Rezko, Obama's communist mentor- Frank Marshall Davis, Obama Mike Klonsky, Obama . The New Party, Carl Davidson Obama.....Do some research. I trust the American people to separate the wheat from the chaff."

Posted by: Nice Deb at October 14, 2008 07:54 PM (9Ghzz)

64 WRT Parker:

That is one insecure woman. She sees someone out of the loop succeed among her peers, contest and beat the establishment multiple rounds, have wild success among the voters, inspire conservatives like Parker never could, and Parker opens with curiosity about hairdos and attire and says Palin can barely make a coherent argument? And her concern that McCain has cancer so Palin might fill in at some point is worse than Obama, a man of even less accomplishment and a freakin' socialist/Marxist, who would step in on day one? Are you kidding me? Are they doling out stupid pills at the water cooler?

KP, it's OK if another woman attains more success than you even if you think you're a more capable person. What isn't OK is a) negative campaigning you find so disconcerting when coming from others but engage to tear Palin down (it makes you a bit of a hypocrite and makes you look petty and bitter), and b) your illogical, ivory tower-enhanced, fashionably-inspired stupidity.

What's going on at NRO? Now that Big Buckley is gone, is there a mutiny on board? Or is it just fear of the vagina?

77 Kathleen Parker is not only a colossal idiot, but she is also a hateful, jealous shrew.  I am not one to believe that all women are jealous of women more attractive than they (naturally, being a woman myself), but those petty comments about our Sarah's appearance were completely uncalled for and remarkably unprofessional.

And she said that the media had been taking it easy on Gov. Palin?  She's obviously on some new kind of potent, mind-bending drugs.  And I couldn't believe all the dem talking points she was spewing.  Oooooo, McCain is 72 and is going to drop dead at any moment.

Anyone who thinks that Gov. 82 Parker is a Townhall columnist who does/did blog on NRO's The Corner (ironic because about two years ago she wrote a nasty Townhall column attacking bloggers, which probably explains a lot about her.).  Buckely was only brought in on a temp basis while Steyn was fighting the speech nazis in Canada.  Steyn's back (he won) so Lowry accepted Buckley's pissy "resgination."  I don't think Buckley has ever been a regular at National Review.
