Elizabeth Wurtzel, goofed-up leftie Prozac enthusiast, but nevertheless someone in the know:

Many reporters are well aware, even though Mr. Obama has described his connection to Ayers and Dohrn as "flimsy," that the senator's relationship with his radical Hyde Park neighbors is actually quite warm, even close

3 At some point the American public is going to realize that that have had the wool pulled over their eyes and that the press abandoned their responsibility and ran interference for a corrupt politician.

After Clinton's presidency was threatened I do not ever see the press letting that happen again. They will circle the wagons around Obama for the duration as well as the next Democrat.

We have to wait until the MSM is weakened even more before we will get another fair shot. Lets hope it happens sooner rather than later.

I thought we were further along than we were, but the MSM crossed the line from just biased to actual advocates. That's tough to fight.

10 Yes, Virginia - there really IS a Santa Claus! Look @ Fox!

"McCain said he and running mate Sarah Palin would continue campaigning hard in the three weeks left before Election Day, in places like Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Mexico, Nevada and Colorado. The two planned a joint appearance Monday in Virginia, a Republican stronghold turned battleground this time.

"We're going to spend a lot of time and after I whip his you-know-what in this debate, we're going to be going out 24/7," McCain said".

Yeah, that's what I said - where's my pie??!

Posted by: freetofly at October 12, 2008 06:51 PM (4q7GQ)

11 I honestly read that as "after I whip out his you-know-what in this debate", and was about to ask when Cleavon Little had entered the race.

18 The article was all right until the last paragraph. After writing about the willful blindness on the part of the news media concerning the facts about Obama and his psycho terrorist friends, Wurtzel says: "Mr. Obama expects us all to understand this, because we understand everything else. He is doing something most unusual: He's acting as if the American people are thinking with their brains. He's giving all of us a lot of credit. Could it be that we deserve it?"

Excuse me, but WTF? Treating us like stupid children who can be led around by barefaced lies is "acting as if the American people are thinking with their brains"? Wurtzel is living proof that drug use does destroy your brain.

37 Sorry this is very OT but I have been very curious about phenomena  I have noticed .

I live in the bluest of blue states. Can't get much bluer than NY. Well maybe Mass has us beat. Anyway where are all the bumper stickers? Today I drove from Long Island to NJ (another blue state) and saw a total of 3 Obama stickers (all w/o biden), 0 McCain/Palin and 1 John Birch Society (seriously). This includes sitting in over 45 minutes of traffic to get across GW bridge. (Probably a good thing I didn't see that many on the GW or I may have jumped). Also I saw zero yard signs and there were lots of local election signs. This is also true for my work commute because I sit a lot of traffic and have nothing better to do than think about this shit.

I know NY is not a swing state but in 04 I saw hundreds Kerry/Edwrards by this time. BTW I also saw more W stickers which doesn't surprise me.

I am really curious about other parts of the country bumper sticker counts?

Posted by: long island at October 12, 2008 08:19 PM (XHzEP)

38 LI,

I drive for a good portion of the day and in NNJ the Obama bumper stickers in the inner cities are like bird crap. They're everywhere. In the suburbs I've noticed a huge amount of McCain/Palin Lawn signs popping up.

All summer Obama was the only lawn sign to be seen. There's been a huge boon of them lately.

Anecdotal of course but take it for what it's worth.

NJ is Blue but there are Deep Red Islands....

40 I am really curious about other parts of the country bumper sticker counts?

I'm seeing quite a few Obama bumper stickers in MO (KC area).  I pulled up beside a Volvo the other day that had an Obama bumper sticker, young white couple, at a red light.  I honked and rolled my window down, when the young lady rolled her window down, I said, "Hey, did you know that some asshole put an Obama sticker on your bumper?"  They were still at the light long after it turned green.

Not unlike their Halfrican friend, no?

"Hamelin Town's in Brunswick,
By famous Hanover city;
The river Weser, deep and wide,
Washes its wall on the southern side;
A pleasanter spot you never spied;
But, when begins my ditty,
Almost five hundred years ago,
To see the townsfolk suffer so
From vermin, was a pity."

44 As for Mr. Obama's friends, the Weathercouple: By all accounts, Bernardine Dohrn and Bill Ayers are unfathomably charming, brilliant and comely people, absolutely irresistible. Everybody who meets them is taken and forgets what they should know.

She said this back in May. What a douche.

It's weird too. I am in Connecticut and Obama is advertising like crazy on the networks and cable. Why the hell would he be advertising in the New York market? Seems like a waste of money to me.

"I am really curious about other parts of the country bumper sticker counts?"

Salt Lake City and its more conservative environs: 2-3 McCain, 1 Romney (it is Utah), TONS of Obama. McCain will take it, but there is zero enthusiasm for him.

Though there might be a bit of a boat-rocker effect, though. People who put on bumper stickers more care about standing out than preaching to the choir.

Posted by: Bubba at October 12, 2008 09:26 PM (Oi0e7)

46 Strangest thing - I live in bluest blue (dane bramaged blue) Rhode Island, and I swear Obama is dropping a tidy bundle here on advertising. Guess they don't like ACORN much on Federal Hill, capice? He needs to run a swing state worthy amount of ads in a state that McCain is barely competing? Today, Sunday alone, I have personally seen probably 15 Zero ads across a spread of channels.

Posted by: rhodeymark at October 12, 2008 09:28 PM (BeUZj)

47 I'm in Virginia. Reddish part, but a blue city. I barely saw any W bumpers 4 years ago, with the exception of the wife and I, but a TON of Kerry Edwards. This year, I've seen a ton of McCain/Palin (even Sarah! ones), very few Obama. But I am seeing more Obama's popping up, but then I will see twice to three times the number of McCain. I live in a bluish neighborhood.
Of course the polls from VA that have been reported by the MSM, are the national firms. One commissioned by state newspapers has McCain up by 3 with registered voters. (Poll released 10-3)

Posted by: mrcaniac at October 12, 2008 09:33 PM (Rbulg)

48 I have not seen one political ad in NY.

Posted by: long island at October 12, 2008 09:34 PM (XHzEP)

49 Long Island, consider yourself lucky. We get 4 or 5 ads per commercial break, and there are still 3 weeks to go.

Posted by: mrcaniac at October 12, 2008 09:40 PM (Rbulg)

50 LI, I am watching Cold Case on CBS channel 2 in NY and there have been 2 on this show alone. It's almost always the ad about how McCain does nothing for average taxpayers, just tax cuts for the rich, blah, blah, blah.
There was some on Mythbusters last night on cable too.

Posted by: Rocks at October 12, 2008 09:42 PM (7rbe9)

51 Regarding Obama dropping money in Blue States: he has lots and lots of money to drop. He's not doing it because he needs to; he's doing it because he can. Like the guy with all the bling and the Caddy with the flashy hubcaps, he's just showing off.

Posted by: Bubba at October 12, 2008 09:42 PM (Oi0e7)

52 In my part of Iowa, there's been more Obama/Biden stuff popping up in the last week or so, but the McCain/Palin stuff still outnumbers it. Also I've seen a lot of yards with democrat candidate signs, without the O/B sign, and no yards with only O/B.   Otoh, there are a lot of yards with just McCain/Palin and no other sign.  Hm, did any of that make sense?  As for bumperstickers, I'm afraid to put one on my car because of all the crazy vandal lefties.  I wonder how many other people are afraid of that this year?

Posted by: estee at October 12, 2008 09:49 PM (51h4I)

55 TomV says:  I thought we were further along than we were, but the MSM crossed the line from just biased to actual advocates. That's tough to fight.

Actually, it's incredibly easy (at least to type out):
1. Go to a BHO appearance and ask him a tough question.
2. Get his response on video.
3. Upload it to Youtube.

If the question is good enough (about a real subject, not a rant, easy to understand, etc.) and it gets a "good" response that's about all we'd need.

Now, the hard part is getting anyone to actually do something. Details at my name's link if anyone is interested.

I thought the article was logical and coherent, right up until the sharp left turn, which made no connection to all the previous facts and train of thought.

Saying that associating with birds of a feather whom are/were radicals, revolutionaries, liberation theologists, etc., means Mr. Obama will "bring us all together" is signs that the trips (teehee) to Walden fried all logic, sense, and sensibility out of Ms. Wurtzels' article.

Attention Liz; if Bill and Bernie bombed an abortion clinic, would that change the dyamics?  If he caused the death of security guards (and yes, people died at the hands of Bill and Bernie), would that matter?  If judges hearing cases about people who were radical right/white nutjob religious cults were threatened with death, fire bombed at their homes while they slept, with their families, would you still be saying it was okey dokey and leaping to dismiss this?  If it were the people that tortured and killed a gay person but got away with it on a technicality, would it still be old history if a politican wanted to have tea and toast while getting the stamp of approval needed to launch their political campaign?  If they helped distribute money (like a HUNDRED MILLION DOLLARS) that would teach children creationism in pre-school, that would still be fine too, because suspension of questions about ones ideological slant is counter productive in the world where HE can bring us together?

All one needs to impress you is fashion accessories while maiming?

Because if moral equalivancy seems to be the trumphet of today, then moral equivicate please. But to unplug from all logic is, well, in the words of the very astute Mr. Spock, illogical.
