I put the blame for how we were left with McCain on four events:

1) Fred Thompson was too damn lazy to campaign; he didn't recognize that he was a really good candidate; him and Palin would probably be tied or slightly ahead against Obama/Biden

2) New Hampshire independents: these morons supported both McCain and Buchanan, two guys who don't agree on anything; they aren't voting on policy but just for the guy who they perceive to be an "underdog" or "cool."

3) Fred Thompson again for screwing Huckabee over in South Carolina; the Huckster would have won had Thompson not finally decided to campaign in SC and take away his voters, giving the state to McCain

4) Charlie Crist for endorsing McCain in Florida.

Our best candidate was Thompson but Huckabee was even better than McCain.  Heck, McCain is probably even with Romney given that Romney would have used Wright without thinking about it.  Giuliani probably ranked second or third behind Thompson, despite his views on abortion.

I said this over at hotair--I just wish I had a subscription to NR so I could cancel it.  This is the same KJ Lopez who has just loved everything GW Bush has ever done, and has told us over and over again how great he is....and was smarmily trying to sell Mitt Romney starting back in 2006.

That was the first thing that turned me off to the corner...it changed from being funny and interesting to a Mitt Romney pep rally 2 years out from the general election.  I've got nothing against Romney as a man, but jeez his supporters really need to get over themselves.

Without Wright getting back into the discourse, I think the bottom line is that we don't win.  That's our silver bullet.

I haven't read the whole thread but... has anyone posed this - Blaming McCain camp for "violence" could be transference (sp)  If you blame the other guy or claim they are doing something you yourself are doing then the focus and the blame transfers, any actions taken by you that are raised appear to be self defense.   It leaves the "opponent" flapping and speechless.  Its what I've seen over and over and over in this campaign.  It's a charcter flaw in most if not all narcisists - and what is Obama if not that.  Seriously - I've experienced it in a nasty court case and it can not be underrated.  Try googling it.
