| McCain Won't Name Dodd and Frank? An assertion being made by some commenters. I would strongly suggest you watch this video. Want names? How are Obama, Frank, and Dodd for three? Bonus: How about calling them all co-conspirators? Apart from kicking them down a well and yelling THIS IS SPARTA, how much tougher do you want?Comments1

As a larger point, Ace.
McCain does it once and you are whooping and hollering. Then he never does it again. Where are his raines and johnson talking points? Did it once, and that's it. Again, just to shut us up. Obama is out there every day repeating things that are substantiated lies cuz it helps at the polls. McCain can't even utter facts consistently like he should. And when he does, he just does it a single time, seemingly to placate the complainers (us). Posted by: lorien1973 at October 10, 2008 09:06 PM (ddGv/) 13

Just afraid to do it twice? I mean, really, that's weak.
If he was serious about "naming names" he would have done it today during a major speech. I defy you to find Frank or Dodd in there. Much less something knocking Pelosi for saying "no witch hunts" Look at all the wooden arrows left on the ground, just waiting to be fired. Posted by: lorien1973 at October 10, 2008 09:17 PM (ddGv/) 23
This means nothing, as it only gets coverage on Fox. If McCain wants to prove his bona fides, he needs to rip into Obama at the last debate. It is the one place where the press cannot protect him. Right now the press is not talking about ACORN, Frank, Dodd, Raines, et. al, much less connecting the dots between them. Most of the doctors I work with don't know about this stuff, and they're supposed to be smart. Circle-jerking between the campaign appearances, dextrosphere commentary, and Fox News is not getting the job done. The best scenario is where McCain confronts Obama about his complicty in the mortgage mess, and accuses the press in covering it up. The only way he wins this is by going on the offensive and forcing this story, not telling his supporters what they already know.

"Apart from kicking them down a well and yelling THIS IS SPARTA..." ROFL! Um, this is *exactly* what I want. Barney the Dinosaur would make a nice, big splash once he finally hit the water. Dodd would probably try to talk his way out of it, but you can't talk your way out of a well. Obama would wait for someone else to do something, but would he would be cool while doing nothing. exactly. Alot of conservatives are parsing his words and finding fault with everything Mccain does.
I know conservatives and mac have not always been on the same page. Instead of hating on him, help him. Instead of being angry at him. be angry at the opposition. All the media said McCain would have problems with conservatives. Are you all really going to let them be right? McCain is an honorable guy running in the toughest and most slanted race we have ever witnessed. This will be his last election, should he destroy his honor and reputation because of poeple taunting him? I just do not get it. The slime on candidates is always done by outside groups. Not true, it's still being talked about in Wisconsin today. The naming names clips are being replayed on the radio, as well as angry old white guy and angry young black guy. McCain could wrap up this election with Acorn, because that whole Chicago crew has ties to it. Ayres is part of it through CAC. Who else does Acorn support? The same people who defended Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and denied there was a crisis?
McCain not only has to answer questions at the next debate, he has to ask some very pointed ones. Barack won't answer, he'll dance around the question. But you have to put that doubt in voters' minds and ask them to share your doubts. A doubt can make a difference in the voting booth. Welcoming their new socialist overlords. The hangers-on of the rich folks are stabbing us in the back, too - fucking Christopher Buckley. I had a couple of his books on my shelf - normally I give books I don't want to the local library, but I pitched his into a Dumpster with extreme prejudice. Last night Colmes threw out George Will and Kathleen Parker at Ann Coulter...Coulter just laughed and basically said "Who the f**k is Kathleen Parker? Nobody heard of her until she endorsed Obama." If McCain talks about this and gets it on the news, in tv ads, during a debate, etc, he reaches 40-50% or more of electorate, nationally. Vomiting it out during a townall simply isn't enough. I think it's simple, really. Posted by: lorien1973 at October 10, 2008 09:44 PM (ddGv/) 52

This man has no clue. Average folks are trying to give him one. His running mate understands. He is so mentally beholden to the hatred-of-average-Americans-Washington-media-pov, he cannot graciously receive, let alone communicate, the pov folks are trying to give him.
This election is a cultural election. David Brooks and Christopher Buckley and Peggy Noonan reflect exactly how much our America is an idea, a cultural attitude, an understanding of actual life and how it actually works, and who actually is in tune with actual life. Ironically, we have a distinct split between rich and not rich. The Ivy League, rich, never-having-struggled-or-independently-gained crowd, are focused on their vaunted superior intellect. They are now part of the Obama European Elite. The average plumber, electrician, carpet cleaner, small lawyer, modest doctor, are all just assholes. This country is now tipping to the bogus and absurd totalitarian mentality. Stupid materialist "conservatives," truly idiotic assholes, are helping to make it so. With us, surrogates, supporters and 527's obama would be on the defense all day and McCain would have a chance to lay a clean agenda out with optimism for america. This is a silly argument we are having here. The economic situation is a national issue. It affects everyone. Yes, it's nice that they run around the country and do all that I get it. But I don't get your reticence to making this argument a major feature of the campaign. Or that you are content at the level it has been brought up so far. We have democrat complicity, Obama complicity, ACORN complicity. And you are happy that it's just Wisconsin talk radio brings it up. This is like knowing that the democrats bombed pearl harbor. They are out there blaming republicans. And on occasion, you say "hey a democrat may be to blame here" - the truth should be bellowed every second of every day. Stunned. I was referring to your, "Till he names names in a speech, during an interviewer with the media or during a debate; this answer at the townhall is next to irrelevant." Do we both want him hitting this as often as possible at the national level? Yes. I've never said otherwise. I'm merely pointing out that the Waukesha town hall was remarkably effective for a very low price and it inundated the news seen and heard in the Milwaukee suburbs. That's where a heck of a lot of swing voters in this swing state live. Anyways, let's not fight. I agree with your national point and you're free to disagree on the local one. McCain's hail-fellow-well-met campaign is lost partly because neither he nor the party was prepared. The groundwork for a true "Happy Warrior" strategy was never done and there's nothing that can alter that. This groundwork wasn't done by the Republican party and probably couldn't be given the fractured nature of the post-modern GOP. It has shown itself to be particularly unsuited to the in-flux, uncharted, media driven age in which we find ourselves. That said, going caveman might not be the best call either.

McCain in some fashion will be saying: WHERE IS THE OUTRAGE? At the last minute, like Dole, he will get a glimpse (because his ego is involved ... not because of well considered principles) of how reprehensible Obama is, and stupidly yell to us: WHERE IS THE OUTRAGE? The outrage was when McCain condemned the criticism of GODAMN AMERICA six months ago. Exactly like Bush, McCain is a wealthy insulated totally out of touch with America asshole. I believe (I cannot prove this) that McCain is satisfied (like Dole) with having run for president. McCain demonstrates ZERO understanding of average Americans. America is great because of Americans. I have to think that what McCain said today WILL get back to his fellow members of Congress in D.C. And I have to think that by doing what he did today he burned some bridges by signaling a willingness to break with the fabled comity of the Senate in order to get the truth out. This interests me because he was always willing to break party unity for bipartinship. Now he's willing to break his bipartisanship. Not to be melodramatic, but I don't think we've seen all the ripples that this pebble in the pond is going to generate.

Great! Keep it up, John!

Did I mention that McCain is an asshole?
Please understand this. Christopher Buckley. Peggy Noonan. David Brooks. Please understand this. THEY ARE RICH INSULATED OUT OF TOUCH ASSHOLES. They are an actual segment of out society, WEALTHY superficial assholes who are more concerned about what their fellow money-holders think about them. This election is the most clear cut ever. It is about the elite Ivy League assholes like Buckley and Noonan and Brooks, who despise actual regular Americans. This is why conservatives lose. They do not understand the arrogance and narcissicsm of Buckley Noonan and Brooks. Like McCain, they stupidly regard it as some innocuous aberration. I am telling you. This election is about whether we become the fuzzy obscure capitulation to European totalitarianism, or remain true to our unique American selves. McCain has no clue. He is an asshole. A true ego driven asshole, with no true regard for America. That is why he will lose to the islamo-marxist America hater. Posted by: Tonawanda at October 10, 2008 10:54 PM (IA49+) 80

Ya know what, STOP RUNNIN' THE MAN DOWN!! Buncha fuckin' douchebags . . . If you HONESTLY want to save our country from the "islamo-marxist America hater," then you need to get on board and WORK to make it happen.
I was there in the 60s, and there's one slogan that still rings true: If you are not part of the solution, then YOU are part of the problem. So, Tonowanda, I cordially invite you to go fuck yourself. We can only hope that he's been sandbagging Zero, playing the classic Ali rope a dope. Then, when we think he's finished he comes out with a flurry of uppercuts. When I see him react to some of the folks egging him on in FL, it seems that he's ready to unleash something awesomely gnarly and can hardly contain himself, but in the debates he's holding back. Is it a strategy to get Zero overconfident? One can hope. Heck, he might even unleash the accusation that Zero is the sucker of the barbed cock of Satan, and send the media into a collective bitchsnit. It's the only logical conclusion I can reach after watching the dichotomy between on the stump McCain and boring debate McCain. Last chance, homey. Make those punches count. Look at this election ... total wealthy assholes like Buckley Noonan Brooks reveal their narcissistic ego-driven "please love me, liberals" statement of superficial angling. Their incomes and reputations (among the asshole leftists) are at stake.
This is a cultural election. Not abortion. Not the death penalty. Not guns. It is about the very concept of America. Too too many folks are confused about the concept. Free men. Logic. Western civilization. Thoughtfulness and humanity. The asshole McCain has ceded those concepts to the bigger asshole islamo-marxist. Posted by: Tonawanda at October 10, 2008 11:15 PM (IA49+) 86
The asshole McCain has no idea he is defending Western civilization. He is mired in the ridiculous concept of "civility." Palin knows exactly what it is about.
McCain is ignorant. He is not even close to conversant to Western Civilization, apparently. Wealth and bizarre insularity (like disregard for the First Amendment) reflect how un-anchored this rich man is. Let us get this election totally clear. It is between two wealthy elitists. One, as part of his elitism, hates America. The other, as part of his elitism, proudly is ignorant of the actual issues facing the West. We get it Tonawanda. But there's not a fucking thing we can do about it until at least 2010.
He can't be replaced. And he's clearly clearly better than Obama on every single Conservative point. He's still suck, get a freaking grip. He probably won't appoint Oprah to the Supreme Court. Or Rosie O'Donall. I don't think Obama would care. He might appoint Michelle. So stop the endless screed slamming the only possible guy. If you have to expend your angst somehow, call your Congresscritter and insist on having Dodd testify. Write the MSM and lambaste them "Why did you leave this shit until October? Can't you do any fucking research on your own? You had two fucking years, and we still haven't met anyone from his past that wasn't insane." Generally, you'll get better results if you act like you think it's hurting Obama there. Demand drilling yesterday. Nuclear power the week before that. Tell your Senator off. Whatever. But stop slamming the week reed that's staving off collision with The New Deal III. Posted by: Al at October 10, 2008 11:34 PM (Lk931) 89

Apart from kicking them down a well and yelling THIS IS SPARTA, how much tougher do you want? Sorry Ace but ummm..... Yes!!! That would be acceptable. The MAVERICK didn't seem to have a problem getting in the face of Chuck Grassley (REPUBLICAN senator of Iowa) and expressing his thoughts. I believe the term used was "“But that’s not your problem. Your problem is, you’re a f**king jerk". Then I hear him pining what a wonderful person and family man Barack Hussein is after an elderly woman voiced her concern about the possiblilty of (calling him an Arab) the communist becoming president. Ahhh, the Maverick. How'd he get that nickname again???

"Integrity" doesn't require me to bury my vote. It shouldn't require you to bury yours. If you feel it does, then you misunderstand the system.
It isn't a nomination for sainthood. I don't have to vouch for the candidate's sanity, probity, integrity, cleanliness, gravitas or skill at baking. I just have to honestly think he's better than the other asshole. And frankly, he's a metric shitload better than the other asshole. Even though he's left of JFK. That's still better than being left of Gorbachev. Posted by: Al at October 11, 2008 01:28 AM (Lk931) 94
I for one don't feel real comfortable with people calling McCain an "asshole" blah blah blah. If you don't like him, fine. But he bled for your ass. Spending years in a prison camp may not qualify someone for POTUS, but it should get your respect.

Listen, he said "you will know more names," which indicates to me he's got a plan to bust this race up. If he gives up, to hell with him, but let him run his race.
I know, I'm exhausted too. But he had to wait until the bailout was signed before he let loose. He tried to warn us once before about the impending crisis and nobody listened. Now the media is forced to report on this, and ACORN, and Obama's leftist history, and hopefully he make his points while the public is ready for it.
