Palin To Drop Opening Puck at Flyers Game

Hockey mom.

The Flyers boards are going crazy with liberal rage, DaveR tells me. They promise they'll boo her, boo her darn good.

I have a feeling that there are going to be a lot more cheers.

In more goofy news, one of the Pussycat Dolls has invited Palin to join that group, saying, "She seems like a headstrong woman, a tough chick. And she's hot."

Note one of the qualifications was not, "She can sing like the Dickens." Ba-zinnngggg!

For those who don't know the Dolls', um, work, here's a video of theirs, with a Content Warning for sexual suggestion and hot chicks contorting their bodies in ways the Church Lady would disapprove.

I have to admit... I wouldn't be averse to Sarah Palin loosin' up her buttons.

I would not be frontin'.

Well actually I would be frontin'. Her husband would kill me. It would be a "dangerous incitement" to not be frontin'.

Thanks to Ace Queen for that.

Normally, I'd so be in my bunk. But the First Dude, he'd find out. He'd know. And he would hunt me down and run me over with his snowmobilemachine.

Glanced at headline, thought it said "Palin Drops Punk at Flyers Game."  The opening puck reality is pretty cool I guess, but the mental picture of Saracuda punching out a scrawny O supporter would belong at everythingsawsome.

11 How many othrwise lefty chicks do you think will vote for Palin because she's likewise a chick?

I was talking to a woman in Oregon last week who disagrees with every single thing that Obama stands for, totally agrees that the media is biased, and yet, she refuses to vote for McCain/Palin because "Sarah's a woman and I don't think she should be running for VP with 5 little children."

I tried to politely explain that

A) One of her "little children" is a soldier in ethe US Armed Forces
B) Another of her "little children" is 17
C) Why can a man have as many as 9 kids (Robert Kennedy, for example) and no one says a word about him having to be home with his kids?

Didn't make a difference. "Sarah's a woman and I can't vote for her."

Ugh.

17 What does "be frontin'" mean?

Posted by: Mrs. Peel at October 08, 2008 07:05 PM (CNi9Y)

18 Oh, she was fat.

And pretty stupid too, considering her deep, intellectual analysis of the issues.

I just smiled and shook my head.  I was not in a position to really get into it with her.  But damn, I wanted to.

Posted by: wiserbud at October 08, 2008 07:07 PM (NAUBn)

19 the song is about a guy who keeps sayin' he's going to do all these hot sexy things, and he's "loosin' up his buttons," but he never gets around to doing anything, therefore he's "frontin'" (playing,  faking, misrepresenting) and not walking the walk.

Ergo, if a man values  his  life, he would only be "frontin'" with Sarah Palin, or better yet, I suppose, not talking about "loosin' up my buttons" at all.

Palin To Drop Opening Puck at Flyers Game

I admit, I'm worried. It's a blue collar town, but 110% Democrat.

Obama didn't win PA in the primary. But beyond politics, they might just boo because for the average viewer, she's a punchline.

Posted by: CJ at October 08, 2008 07:35 PM (9KqcB)

29 She's going to drop the puck at a Flyers' game? OK, she's got balls. Big depleted uranium balls. Her going to Philly to do this is probably the equivalent of, eh, Zerobama walking out in front of the crowd at Talladega to say "Gentlemen, uh, er, uh, start, uh, wait, uh, er, your, uh, eh, engines?"

34 I'm a Philly fan and, yep, the fans are calling for a hail of boos (see, e.g., the700level.com).  Maybe that's the plan; I left this comment at that site (note: Nick is a previous commenter):

This will probably turn out, in the short term (i.e., however long Palin is out on the ice), as an embarrassment for her and her ticket, assuming she receives the chorus of boos most of you are predicting. That's also assuming the "media-hype of Philly sports fans" (quoting Nick) is true. Maybe that's the whole Rove-ian plan behind this visit: the rest of the state will get a good dose of us jackass Philly fans lustily booing a vice-presidential candidate (how do you think that'll play in Pittsburgh?), and long-term it helps the elephants in November.

Then again, maybe Philly fans will grow up for a couple minutes, at least until the puck drops, and it'll be a wash.

Other than that, another Nick quote: "The actual answer is, neither candidate is qualified because there is no such thing. Palin is however really unqualified."

Read watch you just wrote there, pal.

Well, at least the game is played indoors, hence, no snowballs.

Now, if they would just agree to pat down the crowd for smuggled batteries and armpit pretzels, she just might get out of there safely.
