| Sarah Palin Is a Great Big BullyWe've officially become Sissy Nation. The number of men who are simply flat-out pussies -- and apparently proud of it -- is approaching 40%, if it hasn't already hit that. And they're all, of course, voting for Effete Metrosexual Sissy Obama.hose of us with vivid memories of middle school have seen Gov. Sarah Palin's type before. She was the girl who was always the first to stand for the Pledge of Allegiance and the last to stop instigating fights in the cafeteria. She was the girl who always had just enough self-awareness to know when the boys were paying more attention to her than to other girls. Her specialty was flattering the alpha boys around her. Terrified of losing her exalted place, she quickly perfected the art of saying nothing of consequence. She rambled because the boys thought it was cute. If she ever had an original thought in her head, she was discreet enough to keep it to herself. She was the conformist who fancied herself a leader. From an early age, she knew the power of a strategically placed hand on the bicep of some jock. Girls like Sarah Palin knew how to secure a place with the "in crowd." After all, she was the girl with the iridescent smile who provided the laugh track for the meatheads roaming the halls pulling wedgies on those who would never qualify as "their kind of people." Like a lot of bullies, Sarah Palin talks tough when she's surrounded by people of like mind and even less imagination; the more gullible the mob of admirers, the better. That has always been the case with demagogues. Sarah Palin subscribes to the same strain of American anti-intellectualism and fake populism as Huey Long, Spiro Agnew and other media-savvy scoundrels from the last century."Those of us with vivid memories of middle school." That gives the game away right there. These sissymen are still nursing grievances about being unpopular in middle school. They just can't get over it. But Sarah Palin is the one with the problem. Tony Norman, you were a weedy, repulsive little shit in middle school and you've grown -- sort of -- into a warped, stooped inadequate man-child still stinging from and spitting over playground insults. Must all of America continue paying for you inadequacies and pathologies? Why not leave voting to those who can separate national politics from homeroom politics? Video Baiting: As suggested by a reader. Comments1

oh bullshit. i wish I bookmarked it but this lefty blogged about going to school with her and Todd and he admitted that she was just a very nice person, mostly an academic bookworm that kept to herself but was very warm and helpful to her peers. Liberals have dream up bad images of Palin because it's really themselves they are seeing and not liking. Mirrors. Posted by: topsecretk9 at October 07, 2008 05:22 PM (QpZfE) 12

Her art of saying nothing sure worked when she renegotiated that contract with big oil for the natural gas pipeline.
Her art of saying nothing sure worked when she called out the cheaters on the energy commission in Alaska. Her art of saying nothing sure worked when she fought her own party in Alaska. Her art of saying nothing sure worked in garnering the support of conservatives in this election. That "guy" sounds very, very, bitter. Just a tip but it is so much more attractive when you move on from middle school. Posted by: mare at October 07, 2008 05:23 PM (X1fsj) 14

"Those of us with vivid memories of middle school have seen Gov. Sarah Palin's type before." This reminds me of an old SNL routine (all paraphrased): COSBY: "Every school used to have a fat kid with a purple shirt who used to run real fast, you know what i'm talking about" DON PARDOT VOICEOVER: "No we don't, but that doesn't matter" Posted by: kevin at October 07, 2008 05:25 PM (GK56f) 19
We've gone from "When you were kids, you all admired the champion marble shooter, the fastest runner, big league ball players, the toughest boxers" to "Those of us with vivid memories of middle school..." in a matter of two generations. Somewhere out there lies an America that may have disappeared for some time, but will arrive again, maybe a century from now.

This, and the growing number of women who act girly well beyond the appropriate age to quit such nonsense, is the reason for much of my growing pessimism. You know it's bad when your girls (and 10 yo. boy) can out-tough (physically, mentally, emotionally) most of the 18 - 25 age bracket men. I live next to the school football field; on any given Saturday there is a game. In times past most parents came to cheer on the players and their kids; now the majority try to relive high school themselves -- they actually try to compete with the kids in the "I'm/we're the coolest kids around" game. The game's a bitter fact of life for a teenager, just stupidly sad in a thirty/fortysomething. I think the mindset has a lot to do with what's wrong right now.

Tony Norman was the classic nerd who wore highwater tweed pants jaked up inches over his waistline with a Roy Rogers belt. He made a fashion statement with his flannel shirt by wearing a pocket protector with a slide rule, a few fountain pens, and of course a McDonalds spoon for emergencies. His choice of footwear was always ankle high tennis shoes with argyle socks, plainly evident below his high water pants. He always carried a portable chess set, and was proud to be president of the chess club. His choice of hair products was Debonaire Pomade to smooth down his unruly hair, and wearing his flannel shirt buttoned at the top only accented his scrawny neck. The highlight of his high school experience was being invited to the Sadie Hawkins dance by Lulella Schotenheimer, a rather rotund young lady of average height who resembled a parakeet. Fortunately for Lulella, Tony was unable to dance and thought it more interesting to stay at home slapping his chicken to the sounds of ABBA. Posted by: Fish at October 07, 2008 05:50 PM (6Rihj) 53

Most of us “nerds” in HS carried our slide rules in our physics book (which did wonders for its accuracy). And “pcoket protectors were not available in the same era as slide rules, or at least I never saw one. Sarah Palin was a jock, not a cheerleader. Barack Obama, however, is the male version of Tracy Flick from Election: he doesn't HAVE an identity other than his personal political advancement.

The fact that I comment on this moronblog pretty much proves that I was not an Alpha in high school - a Beta+ at best. I like to think that I've gotten more Alpha since then - the Army helped a lot, and law school was a place where an aggressive Beta could promote himself to at least probationary Alpha. All that said, Sarah actually reminds me very much of two girls that I knew in high school. Palin is not the prep-bitch-chearleader type. No, she was one of those female jock types, popular enough with the cool guys and invited to the good parties, but self-confident enough to be nice to not-so-cool guys (maybe not actually date them, but at least give them a dance or two). Basically just good people to be around - not mean but not the type to back down either. I'm pretty sure that Sarah Palin was that girl that everyone fell at least a little in love with, and even if you were rejected, she wasn't mean about it and there would be no hard feelings (except for the creepy Asian stalker guy, but that's another story). On a serious note, only one half of the nation is raising beta-males, at least on purpose. And that half calls the other half, "rednecks" in an effort to make themselves feel better about it. That motherfucker would be straight up unemployed today and I wouldn't give him any reference other than to say "he flat out lied in an article, which we found unacceptable, end of story...Caveat emptor.". what I find amusing about this line of thought is that if you listen to the libs who have spent a month going around making snide Palin comments, they're the ones who sound like a bunch of 12 year old girls hanging around the cafeteria table making fun of some girl for wearing uncool shoes to school.

You know what?
Even if Sarah Palin was the biggest bitch in her high school and acted like the jock villain's girlfriend in an Eighties teen comedy, there's one point worth noting: LIFE ISN'T HIGH SCHOOL. An amazing number of liberals seem permanently mired in tenth grade. Their political decision-making is that of a class election: "OMG I just loooove Barack!! Hes so KEWL!" The only real difference is that tenth-graders are likely to be better-informed about the candidates in a class election than most liberals are about national politics. Example: Ted Rall, alleged cartoonist. In one of his books he pretty much admits that he's a liberal lunatic because some kids from Republican households back in high school used to pick on him. And he says it as if it reveals some fundamental political truth about the nation -- rather than revealing that Ted Rall is a creepy little shit capable of nursing grudges for decades about trivialities. Republicans could regain permanent majority status at all levels of government simply by repealing the amendment which gave 18-year-olds the vote. Give America back to the grownups. More crap from the left. These over the top attacks (racist etc) on Palin are like the over-use of the Nazi attack on Bush. The left is devaluing the whole concept of racism. I mean, they are reducing the real evil of racism to mere political opposition. This is like what happened with the left's use of the Nazi attack against Bush. The left has forgotten what real Evil is in their quest for power. (But to do good as they understand it you see, they mostly really want to do good things for people even if their methods are considered wrong by the right.) The left is not evil; they have become blind to evil in their quest to do good. And by accepting the short-term advantage by using these smears, they provide future cover for these real evils of racism, sexism, and totalitarianism. And I can not forgive them for that so I am with the Republicans nowadays. Come on Team McCain!

I just e-mailed the following to the author of the article:
"Mr Norman, Your article describing Sarah Palin as the kind of bully/popular girl who tormented you in middle school just may be the most textbook case of psychological projection I have ever encountered. Seriously, seek therapy. If successful, you just might be able to see past the imposed caricature facades whenever you turn on the TV. Just to get you started: People on TV, specifically in the political realm, are not the same people who teased you (or that you were apparently jealous of) during your formative years. Contemplate. Then try writing more intelligent and thought-provoking polemics. This one at least gets (minimal) points for (minimal) entertainment/amusement value. Cheers! Even The New Republic's lame attempt at a hatchet job on Gov. Palin is admiring of her toughness and popularity in high school. She didn't hang on the arm of some jock, she WAS a jock. She made herself from JV backbencher to starting point guard on a state championship team. She plyed in the championship game on a busted ankle. If she were a man and had done this, she would be a legend already. Oh yeah, and from what I have read, Todd was the uber-stud of her era as well. Had girls throwing themselves at him from the age of 14. He was more famous than she for many years. And Sarah landed him, and kept him even while she went out of state to college for six years. That takes a REAL WOMAN. I am in awe of her, as a woman and as mother and as a professional. Posted by: rockmom at October 07, 2008 08:04 PM (iZqUY) 133

Gov Palin attended track camp and basketball camp in SouthTexas when she was in high school. I learned this when she spoke at her appearance here on Friday.

What's sad is that, in fact, Sarah Palin was probably the member of the cool group (the jock) who was actually nice to everybody including the outcasts, weirdos, band nerds (note, she was in the band) et.al. that's what the truly popular do. The cool ones who look down on everyone outside their cliche are the ones who made fun of this guy, not someone like Sarah Palin. Too bad he grew up to hate indiscriminately. "Those of us with vivid memories of middle school..." My most vivid memory of middle school was being tormented for months by one group of bullies, because I wouldn't do anything to defend myself. "ZOMG RETALITATION IS EVIL", or so everyone kept telling me. I finally snapped one day on the baseball field when one of them tripped me with their bat when we were changing which team was up for batting. I took it from them and beat him senseless with it. Didn't get in trouble for it because the gym teacher knew the shit that had been going down until that point and had my back. Between that and almost breaking one guy's foot in the lunch hall who thought it'd be fun to pull me out of my seat, I didn't have much trouble for a few years. Don't remember having trouble with girls. No successes, but no active troubles like this weiner is talking about. Guess this guy was a bigger lose than even I was. The Left was always about power; and if you couldn't see it then, well... I guess everyone is young, dumb and full of cum at a certain stage of adolescence... What happened in the 1960s was that the Left became about violence, the "perpetual revolution" of Mao (and Guevara, and I suppose Trotsky and Bakunin). I thought young Mr. Norman did a wonderful job on his column, so I wrote him to let him know he's appreciated:
Master Norman: Bravo, Master Norman! I read you recent newspaper column about Sarah Palin and I have to say you are a very clever and honest writer. How painful for you to be treated like a no-account cretin in middle school. Especially by those shallow, manipulative girls who completely ignored you and were beneath contempt yet somehow still managed to trick you into constantly thinking about them. Especially at night. And sometimes in the morning. Anyway, no doubt being shunned by the popular kids - especially those bicep-touching girls - continues to take it's toll; self___ can be a fragile thing for a young man. But don't worry! Many people found middle school a trying experience, yet only the emotionally stunted - and by that I mean congenital simpletons and clinical halfwits - dwell upon those experiences as adults. Or reflect on them. Or even much remember them, for that matter. As you get older and begin to find your place in the adult world the sting will subside. Until then, keep your chin up: high school graduation is surely just around the corner. Then you'll make your mark in the world and show all those dispicable yet strangely attractive and iridescent girls what they missed out on by dissing Mr. Tony Norman - Original Thinker, Non-conformist Leader and Professional Journalist!
