Even The New Republic's lame attempt at a hatchet job on Gov. Palin is admiring of her toughness and popularity in high school.  She didn't hang on the arm of some jock, she WAS a jock.  She made herself from JV backbencher to starting point guard on a state championship team.  She plyed in the championship game on a busted ankle.  If she were a man and had done this, she would be a legend already.

Oh yeah, and from what I have read, Todd was the uber-stud of her era as well.  Had girls throwing themselves at him from the age of 14.  He was more famous than she for many years.  And Sarah landed him, and kept him even while she went out of state to college for six years.  That takes a REAL WOMAN.  I am in awe of her, as a woman and as mother and as a professional.

135 Gov Palin attended track camp and basketball camp in SouthTexas when she was in high school. I learned this when she spoke at her appearance here on Friday.

The thought of going to camp in summer in Beeville made me question her judgement for a minute, but clearly her family is very hard core into sports. I highly doubt she was the one acting dumb and helpless around the male jocks.

My most vivid memory of middle school was being tormented for months by one group of bullies, because I wouldn't do anything to defend myself.  "ZOMG RETALITATION IS EVIL", or so everyone kept telling me.

I finally snapped one day on the baseball field when one of them tripped me with their bat when we were changing which team was up for batting.  I took it from them and beat him senseless with it.  Didn't get in trouble for it because the gym teacher knew the shit that had been going down until that point and had my back.  Between that and almost breaking one guy's foot in the lunch hall who thought it'd be fun to pull me out of my seat, I didn't have much trouble for a few years.

Don't remember having trouble with girls.  No successes, but no active troubles like this weiner is talking about.  Guess this guy was a bigger lose than even I was.
