The "didn't do enough" linne is not damning because he said he wanted to plant more bombs (I more or less agree with you that he probably didn't mean he wanted to bomb shit more than once a day).  They set off bombs pretty much every day for a while there, so there's not much more they COULD bomb.  No, the point that the quote illustrates is that Ayers does not think what he did was WRONG.  He may not want to plant more bombs, but neither does he want to repudiate his planting of bombs.  He is, honestly, an UNREPENTANT terrorist.  A man who sought to bomb soldiers at a dance.  A man who hoped to kill "pigs" if possible.

AND HE DOESN'T REGRET IT.

If Obama doesn't really know Ayers or Dohrn (who in my opinion is much worse than Ayers) how did Mike Klonsky, another prominent SDSer, end up getting $175,000 from Annanberg to work on a small schools project (Ayer's baby) and wind up as a blogger for Obama before he was disappeared by the campaign?  Is it really credible that Obama or his wife never met Bernadine Dohrn or were familiar with her background even though they all worked at the same law firm, Sidley, Austin, in Chicago?  This was a woman who was number 2 on the FBI's Most Wanted list at one time. A woman Hoover who was running the FBI at the time called "The most dangeroous woman in America".  How did Obama, a guy who said he joined Trinity Church so he could better plug into the political environment of Chicago, not know of some of the most notorious domestic terrorists in this country's history?

And Ace, the quote from Dohrn is correct.  It appeared in the NYT on September 11, 2001. Interesting day for the NYT to publish an interview with a terrorist.  In the same article Ayers is quoted as saying.

So Democrat, if you have a problem with the quote, your argument is with the NYT not Toby.  He doesn't regret a thing he did.  And Obama knows it.

Also, that NYTimes quote was spliced between two statements which were both out of context, one being "I don't regret setting bombs," the other being "I feel we didn't do enough." It was clever grammatical play by the NYT to make it seem like one continous sentence or thought that came out of his mouth, but notice that the quote isn't cited as "I don't regret setting bombs; I feel we didn't do enough," which WOULD indicate that he wanted to bomb more. And for the record, the quote I found was from years after the NYT quote, and- as seen above- does indicate that he regrets everything but the cause of his group.
