This ad is great and flexible. There were a lot of other clips with Obama praising McCain and admitting McCain's superior prowess in judgment and leadership. I expect different variations on the clips to keep it fresh happening.

The best part of the debate was the 3,057 times (by my count) Obama lost his cool to the very well prepared "hothead" McCain. I'm surprised he wasn't crying on Michelle's shoulder instead of asking her "How we doin'?"
Even odds that Obama's post-debate ad will mention how unfair the debate was with a thinly veiled accusation of racism. Posted by: OU_Gryphon at September 26, 2008 10:51 PM (1OiHj) 23

I would like to take just a moment and say something.
It's not that we immediately declare somebody as astroturfing if they don't like McCain. Hell, there's some issues I can't stand his opinion on. But bitching about misquoting, then bringing up a bunch of folks and misquoting them to prove your point? Almost all of us saw the debate, and those people know what a misquote will look like. Frankly from what I hear, Obama said "I agree with John McCain" quite a few times. Yet you launch on a campaign about misquotes immediately. Without any comments on the debate itself. Look, if you're pro-Obama, fine. I'm glad you have a candidate. Personally I don't agree with a lot of things about Obama, specifically his personal political views and some of his background. The connection to Ayers flat out scares me, frankly. But if you like him, fine. Just cut the shit and say it. Do you know why we act the way we do here? Because every time we read a liberal blog it's always "fuck Bush, fuck Republicans, fuck Conservatism, fuck Christianity, fuck the Right Wing, Palin's a whore." That's it, filthy pathetic trash talk, and not in the spirit of good fun like you see here. Frankly, it disgusts me, as it does a lot of other folks. If you want a good debate about the positives and negatives of both candidates and why we agree or disagree with their opinions, just say "Hey, I support Obama, why do you guys like John McCain?" And then listen. Interact. Debate with intelligence, not by raising your voice and trying to outshout the other guy. We'll appreciate it, and you just might get some good answers. Will they make you change your opinions? No, not necessarily. But you will have learned something about the other side's motivations and beliefs, and won't that help make you a better person overall? Posted by: Ack at September 26, 2008 11:37 PM (qhAlm) 92

For anyone who was watching with any curiosity, it was clear that McCain educated Obama calmly and extensively with considered foreign and even some economic policy exposition. A clear McCain win, although some public spanking of the Democratic Obama was involved. The referee ruled the contest over once Obama corpsed for the third time in attempting to formulate a reply that was as coherently structured and detailed as McCain's. He was unable to at the time.
But.. This advert is a little disappointing for me in that it doesn't show how inept Obama's performance was compared to McCain's. In fact, the clips of Obama show him at his best, being honest and admitting that McCain is right. The viewer who hasn't watched the debate just sees Obama agreeing with McCain a few times in short cuts from the debate, and then hears the narrator conclude from this that Obama is not ready to lead - a weak effort when there is so much material?? Posted by: o.u. at September 27, 2008 01:12 AM (KRDTs) 101
By the way, sorry for including 'spanking' and 'corpsing' in the same paragraph, in adjacent sentences even - that's just not right, I'm sorry. In fact, may I replace 'spanking' and 'corpsing' with 'humilitation' and 'exhibiting broad and visible cognitive malfunction' ? And even that's cruel.
Did we just witness a political death, or do I need to relax? Posted by: o.u. at September 27, 2008 01:27 AM (KRDTs) 102
This will be sound bite that SNL uses it's debate skit tomorrow. Interpose it with McCain saying "Obama doesn't understand" and it might be funny. Something tells me that McCain will come out on the short end of the stick though.

I didn't watch the debate, so that pretty much summed up how I interpreted the ad. Posted by: krakatoa at September 27, 2008 03:18 AM (n1baw) 104
37 McCain won this debate, flat out. His ad will hit hard.
Obama was off his game. We win. Posted by: Zettai Zettai at September 26, 2008 10:55 PM (Z9IOH) No, just off his teleprompter. He's still good as a reading and is qualified as some low level TV news job if he is ever not re-elected senator. Posted by: TomJW at September 27, 2008 07:53 AM (XBGrP) 105
Does anyone else notice the major problem with this ad? It shows 3 clips of Obama agreeing with McCain and then calls Obama into question by saying he's not ready to lead. If Obama's not ready to lead, etc. should his opinions on these issues, where he agrees with McCain, matter? Posted by: Guest at September 27, 2008 08:26 AM (X8Omj) 106
Yeah, I think they should have thought the ad through a little bit longer before posting it. But I guess the intended statement is: "Barack has to stoop to cribbing off his opponent's worksheet to get the job done."
Posted by: The Band at September 27, 2008 09:11 AM (QtRBc) 107
I would rather be in a dangerous situation with McCain than Obama.
However give credit where credit is due, the Kenyan American did choose a better tie. Posted by: Aussie Digger at September 27, 2008 09:54 PM (geF4i) Posted by: kapo at October 28, 2008 04:20 AM (dVaBx) 109
