Granny Rictus McBotoxImplants Predictably Hiding Fresh Extension of Offshore Drilling Ban in Continuing Resolution

Republicans said the Democrats would do this last month when the stayed back to revolt on energy legislations.

She doesn't know what she is doing.

2 If she does this, and McCain and the Republicans play their cards right (big if there, all recent things considered), then this could be political suicide for the Dems. Please G-d.

Posted by: J.J. Sefton at September 23, 2008 02:51 PM (zpaDL)

3 Even if the markets were calm, this would have been a fight the House Republicans wouldn't have the stomach to wage. I can't see how the USA will ever bother to drill offshore again, unless the minority is willing to wage all out Congressional war. Besides, China is too busy getting ready to drink our offshore milkshake, and that's just fine with Nancy of the Undead.

10 Let's see.....

Markets are in chaos.... check

Fannie/Freddie have come home..... check

Oil rises $25/bbl due to inaction.... check

Nancy Pel-botox tries to slip the country a "Demmi Finn".... check

No doubt about it.... They've earned their marks of approval from the citizenry....

Now, to have JonnieMac and the (last of the Mohician (fiscal responsible conservatives)) need to plow Nancy et al about the head/shoulders with their shenanigans, inactions, and their counter-productivity against the country.

It could be a landslide, but the Maverick is the wild card....

Why is Granny Rictus McBotoxImplants playing Russian roulette with the American economy?

Because she wants the American economy to collapse. Modern liberalism essentially came into being during the Great Depression. They're hoping another Great Depression would place them in absolute control of the nation.

13

There are all kinds of earmarks in this continuing resolution also. This deal is being hammered out behind closed doors by the Democratic leadership (I know an oxymoron) and will be presented at the 11th hour. Nancy is already on record as saying she is going to adjourn the house on Friday come hell or high water, financial collapse not withstanding.

The Dems are really sticking a big middle finger into the eyes of the American people. And they refuse to address any of the issues facing the country, but rather continue to play this childish game of gotcha poltics and blaming it all on the Republicans. With their control of the propaganda machine, er I meant the press they will not only get by with it but will also get reelected so they can do it to some more.

And all without a kiss.

Posted by: Just A Grunt at September 23, 2008 03:00 PM (lKGt0)

14 Bush should go on national television in a prime time news conference with his veto pen and calmly explain to the American people how the Democrats are trying to subvert the will of the people.  Then veto the bill and send it back to Congress with an ultimatum - no bill, regardless of how important it may be, will get his signature if it includes language that will prevent expanded oil production.

It's not like he's got anything to lose.  And he might just pave the way for a big resurgence in the Republican brand.

Common sense, affordable energy policy.

15 Indeed, Aaron. Economic malaise, however fleeting, is the fire the Left stokes by which socialism is brewed.

16 Let it shut down.  Clinton and Newt shut it down and we didn't see a bit of difference.  If energy is not opened up it won't matter anyhow because the country will be broke in about a decade.   So shut it down.  They are going on vacation in  a week anyway.  so shut it down.

I agree that this is the perfect time to use the bully pulpit.  With Bernacke and Paulson outright lying (and getting called on it) to try to get the bailout monstrosity passed, it would also put the economic focus on the Dems and the problems they've created over the years, and continue to try to create.

Will Bush finally step up to the plate and talk sense to the American people?  I'm not gonna hold my breath.

Posted by: Hermit Dave at September 23, 2008 03:05 PM (WhFvm)

18 McCain could just come out and bluntly say Democrat leadership in both Houses want to prevent offshore drilling, period. Why won't he do it? Loudly, over and over? The only way to get this crap out of the CR is the same way anything gets done politically... leadership. If McCain makes this a big deal, and makes sure to emphasize that renewed drilling can only help turmoiled markets and the economy, he can get traction politically. He's running for President, an executive office. And he can highlight his desire to exercise every executive option to increase drilling once in office... but now it's the Congress's turn to get with the program. He should flatly call Nancy Lugosi's stratagem to bury the ban renewal in the CR what it is... blackmail against the entire nation.

President Bush should go on TV and announce what Swamp Thing is tring to do. He should include her phone number and email address.

He should. But he won't. For all his virtues, Bush just doesn't seem to have the 'the Great Communicater' in him. If he had used his bully pulpit earlier and more often, his approval rating probably wouldn't be in the basement like they are.

And then I sit back and I ponder, "What is the platonic ideal of stupidity?" It cannot just be being wrong, because we are all wrong from time to time and situation to situation. And then it hits me like Nancy "Mark of the Beast" What's-her-name? Oh yes, Pelosi, hit in the head with Macy's entire cosmetics stock.

"You actually have to be pretty fucking smart to be this fucking stupid!" Imagine: the average person will get as much right as wrong or at least hit the average trendline for mistakes. 31 It's incredible that anyone could continue to vote for a party that, during a period of staggering energy prices and disjointed markets in a panic, would willingly deny America a ready source of economic growth and petroleum. And the source isn't even on the dry land of the continental US. The prospective bounce in the markets from opening offshore drilling could only do good. So, of course, Democrats oppose it. They would oppose it even if it were an issue totally unrelated to the environment or energy. They truly want the economy to fail. So why are so many ultra-rich citizens liberals? Because it doesn't matter how much they want to tax Warren Buffett. He can avoid taxation easily with the help of his army of tax attorneys, and is so rich a few less million in his pocket won't be missed.

But for the rest of America, "screw you" is the way Democrats say "good morning."

Obama's been groomed the whole way and the Democrats are in the tank.

By or for whom?  You might ask.  I'll tell you that it is not fringe political elements that are your worry.  It is not Chicago politics, though that certainly trained Obama well.

In 2004, it was Big Oil that was the bogeyman in the election.  This election, it's Big Energy.  Specifically, companies like ComEd or, more directly, Exelon, who have a lot invested in nuclear plants, hydro-electric and, interestingly, windfarms.

ComEd, owned by Exelon, happens to be one of Obama's largest donors.  Exelon PAC has donated equally to Republicans and Democrats, but Exelon People's PAC is a different story.  Further, Frank Clark, President/CEO of ComEd is a registered lobbyist and a registered bundler for Obama.  He also happens to sit on the board of trustees at the hospital where Michelle Obama works.

That is just the tip of the iceberg.  Who do you think are the top ten investor institutional holders for these big energy companies?  Think current financial crisis.  Who is failing and what private institutions are buying them up?  Mutuals and other investment vehicles suddenly speculating oil up to $145/bbl?  These same financial institutions are Obama's top donors.  yes, they are involved in the current subprime mess, but that is just one of many problems.

The same investment institutions are the top ten holders for Edison International and Consolidated Edison.  California and NY respectively.  Those are just a few.

How did you like that spectacle of the  Big Oil execs getting grilled by congress?  The threats to nationalize or develop a windfall profits tax? Orchestrated by the Democrats.  I bet that the Big Energy guys and these investment firms were laughing up their sleeves watching their opponents get tarred and feathered in public for something big Energy and its investors were pulling the strings on the whole way.

You don't think the Democrats were really blocking oil drilling for some altruistic, save the planet and feel good, tree hugger reason, do you?

As we all know, windfarms and other "alternate" energy aren't really very profitable or inexpensive means of generating electricity right now.  They only become profitable when all other energy becomes too expensive.  Like oil.  Or, when they are able to get sufficient tax releif and government funding to offset or reduce their own investments in building plants or upgrading infrastructure.

Interesting little facts.  ComEd put the "green" message board up at Invesco field for Obama's speech and probably was the onous for all that "think green" convention garbage (which wasn't really as green as people think).

There is more where that came from.  Suffice it to say that Obama is probably the closest to "the Manchurian Candidate" we have ever seen.  He's been selected, groomed and supported the whole way by these organizations.

Pelosi et al are doing the bidding of their masters.  As you know, in the bill they tried to shove down our throats that didn't really open drilling, there was a huge bit of legislature for tax credits, etc for "alternate energy".

these connections and issues go way beyond his relationship with Bill Ayers (Tom Ayers, CEO ComEd, Bill's father) or what he did with the Annenberg Challenge.  That was just a vehicle to Obama's political seat.  Dressing on the Manchurian, so to speak.

I wonder how the American people would feel about these companies and the Democrats having orchestrated the worst financial crisis ever in order to gain political and economic power?  Collusion to drive up oil prices that drove up the cost of everything else (like food, clothes, etc) and forced a lot of good people into bankruptcy and foreclosure.  Which, in turn, was part of this giant subprime mess.

I am calling these people out.  Obama is not the "new politics" of anything. In fact, he is the "old politics" of Tamany Hall variety.  Whatever, back in the day, he might have wanted to be, he sold his soul.  The day he decided that a community organizer had no real power and the only power to "change things" was at state or national political level.  That is the day that Obama's career took off and that is the day he became just as corrupt and slimey as the rest of them.  His devil is Big Energy like Exelon.

48 To all of you asking the GOP to shut down the government, I say to you that this will be portrayed as a GOP disaster in the MSM. Gingrich and Co. were blamed for Clinton's work, even though Clenus was actually responsible. No matter that Granny McBotox and her socialist associates are the ones doing the dirty work, the shutdown will ultimately be blamed on Republicans. Doesn't mean that it's right, true or fair, it just is. You might as well prepare for it, along with the political damage that this will do to McCain.

Why is Granny Rictus McBotoxImplants playing Russian roulette with the American economy?

She knows just what you and I both know, namely that the Republicans will fold like a house of cards on this and let it go through out of stupidity and cowardice but mostly cowardice.  The media will blame this on the Republicans and they don't have the courage to stick up for anything and try to get the message out about what she is trying to pull.

Too bad too, this is the perfect time to do it since the election is in full swing, people are paying attention and the money is there to get the message out to the general voter about what the Dems are trying to pull.  Even if the congressional Republicans could show some spine and do it you just know that McCain would undercut them.  In any case he's probably pressuring them to cave right now as it is.

The Democrats haven't kept any of their promises (end the war in Iraq, reduce the price of gasoline, balance the budget, reign in earmarks, etc.).
