| "Obama Outraged At Being Accused of Not Supporting Something He Doesn't Support"Read it. (Make sure you click to give him the traffic; he deserves it, and I'm swiping a lot of this post.) Obama, on the trail in New Mexico, had this to say of McCain: "And today he accused me of not supporting what the Treasury and the Federal Reserve Bank did with AIG despite no evidence whatsoever that that’s what I had said." To recap, when I wrote earlier today that Obama supported the bailout, I quickly was instructed by his staff that this was not the case. He just didn't oppose it, I was told. Now he's so adamant about not opposing the Fed's move that he's complaining about McCain's portrayal. This is the man who would be president. He doesn't support the bailout; he also doesn't oppose it. And if you say he doesn't support it, he angrily fires back, "Not so, I merely said I didn't support it." This is the guy who's going to lead us. This fucking guy. Captain Bullshit. Senator Present. Comments1
Great headline from the Politico on that one. I think the video below is apt as well. What a day.

Why Americans are becoming stupider than shit:
or Why We Will Have President Obama... New Atheists...Gullible Fools From WSJ: "The reality is that the New Atheist campaign, by discouraging religion, won't create a new group of intelligent, skeptical, enlightened beings. Far from it: It might actually encourage new levels of mass superstition. And that's not a conclusion to take on faith — it's what the empirical data tell us. "What Americans Really Believe," a comprehensive new study released by Baylor University yesterday, shows that traditional Christian religion greatly decreases belief in everything from the efficacy of palm readers to the usefulness of astrology. It also shows that the irreligious and the members of more liberal Protestant denominations, far from being resistant to superstition, tend to be much more likely to believe in the paranormal and in pseudoscience than evangelical Christians." I love how the DNC bots over on Martin's blog are spinning that Obama's just taking time to think and coming up with a real solution that takes everything into consideration.

Obama delayed his economic plan today. I wonder if his "plan" is similar to Kerry's mythical plan in 2004 to end the Iraq war.
And, if Obama has it, why isn't he wowing us with it right now and letting the people suffer? Posted by: lorien1973 at September 19, 2008 04:19 PM (IhQuA) 32
Let me guess: It's racist to demand you take a position on your own disaster. Right? In all fairness, there are people who are a lot more directly responsible than Obama, who simply didn't do anything or take any interest in anything substantial while he was the senate. But Barney Frank, Charlie Rangle, Chris Dodd, the Congressional Black Caucus, and a roster of long-time Democrat politicians, and not a few Republicans, are really to blame, and that's where the blame should be laid. Obama should just be called out for being a political hack. Posted by: Medicinal at September 19, 2008 04:20 PM (jQS9X) 33

LiveFree- I saw your list. But none of the things you mentioned had anything to do with the current economic crisis. That's not my opinion, that's a fact. We are living through the utterly predictable result of the donks in Congress along with their partners in crime, ACORN, NACA, you know, community organizers, using our money to try and socially reorganize the table. Sane economists have been predicting this for years, although they usually got shouted down with cries of RASICT!!! Obama has made "community organizing cred" a pathology. He listens. That is all he does. Listen. Never does.
Remember the accolades for his service to the community? He was a great listener. Didn't accomplish anything noteworthy, but he had a hell of an ear (no pun). In Congress? He listened. Supposedly intently. Then voted "present." He has now grown into a cottage industry running for the Presidency. He has a campaign staff of hundreds he's listening to, writing his speeches, creating his facade. Still nothing to show for it. Nowadays? He still he has no position on anything. He'll tweak a talking point depending on the audience and the teleprompter, but refuses to get nailed down to any issue. Ask him to elucidate or explain? Why, you cad, are a racist... and probably worse than Hitler. Barack Obama: Professional Sounding Board Posted by: AnonymousDrivel at September 19, 2008 04:38 PM (sI5Ho) 43

The less McCain and BHO say about the financial situation, the better. Neither one of them has one frickin clue about finance and economics. Six weeks away from an election is probably the _worst_ time to have politicians making decisions of this magnitude. They're all going to craft their positions with the election in mind, NOT the best long-term solutions. This bailout sucks bigtime. It's hastily conceived and still half-baked. For all practical purposes, Paulson is running the govt right now. The solvency of the US Treasury is at stake. I don't give a rat's ass about the stock market (Disclosure: I am 100% long VHGEX and bought more Wed night. But it is money I can afford to lose.) What I care about is long-term: Are we headed for hyperinflation? When will people realize Treasuries are becoming worthless? How high are fucking taxes going to rise to pay for this mess? How are we going to be able to continue to afford the world's best military? I am pessimistic today. All this is true, but FDR did much the same with Obama, vs. Hoover, and got voted into power. Then pulled the same stuff, that didn't work, and got re-elected three more times.
Americans are deeply divided, with half unwilling to face facts: easy stuff in the Post-Cold War period is over, no more 1990s parties, nuclear proliferation + globalization = dead US cities unless America is ruthless and feared, down not to Presidential levels but non-commissioned officers and enlisted personnel, in places like Pakistan and Iran. Wall Street's meltdown is just another part of this. Yes Obama built this bomb. But the media will never say it, the average Joe will never know it, and vote for the guy perceived to have no responsibility (even though his fingers were all over it). Like I said before, McCain ain't cutting it. He's ahead on handling the economy, and still Obama leads by five now. This is going to continue till Obama gets a landslide. Unless viral videos are unleashed to point out before it's too late the emperor's lack of clothes. People already know Ace that Obama just votes present. They don't care. We need to give them a reason to care, and do it in a 30-second vid. Otherwise, President Chavez-lite for life. Posted by: whiskey at September 19, 2008 05:30 PM (4878o) 58
OK, livefree, I'll play. Big business wants cheap labor. Wages have risen in all three NAFTA countries. Next. It had absolutley nothing to do with any freed trade agreement. Please get you facts straight and settle for an Occam's razor when one is available. 1) Circa: Wages have risen in all three NAFTA countries. Next No dice. A) Real wages adjusted for inflation have risen over 2000 levels only in the last year. Ramesh at NRO points out that this is usually the case with a business cycle, with wages rising toward the end of it. B) taxpayers have made no progress on unfunded liabilities during this period - in fact, they have gotten worse. C) We are about to double the operating number (ignoring social security and medicare) with the current Federal bailout. D) Wages arguably wouldn't have gone up if the amnesty had occurred. And that still has a good chance of happening. 2) The Chamber of Commerce wants what is best for American business--that does not necessarily include cheaper labor--it can also include open markets, freer competition, transparency, etc. Get it? Next. A) Chamber of The Chamber of Commerce stood behind and lobbied for McCain's comprehensive immigration reform package. If you will recall, estimates are that his package would effectively add 80 million americans in the 20 years. B) I understand that the Chamber of Commerce espouses some good policy, and never argued otherwise. 3) Wall Street wants to make a buck. Next. A) Of course, thats their job. I have no problem with that. I am not against markets or free trade. Is Wall Street a power center? Of course. A big one. B) They flat out stated that we should just tear down the southern border. Many of the players involved in this current crisis have been extensively engaged in extending credit to illegal border hoppers. Bank of America. Chase. Citigroup. The investment banks were tied in with them. C) Both Greenspan and Buffet have called for a special a visa increase to absorb the over-built housing market. Why did it get overbuilt? Rove flat out stated that the administration should have better massaged the public for the coming amnesty. When McCain said fanny and freddie were headed for problems in 2005, why didn't the administration do anything about it? Because he was copying Roosevelt's industrial wedge. Ostensibly to drive the war machine. Wars have a significant economic component... as Armiginidan's (who cares about how to spell his fucking name) advisors have been telling him. , if you happened to catch it. 4) This is a complete non-seq. Next. a) See #3C above, and then go read some history. 5) This would be different from the previous influxes of immigrants how? Next. A) I don't know, how about the presence of a massive welfare state and the lack of a physical frontier. Is this shit new to you? Even if you don't want to study history, you could read Mark Steyn. 6) And transnational fucks want to kill the Nation-State, or at least, the Great Satan, us. A) You already admitted that this is the default position of Wall Streetplayers 7) Bad policy A) WHY B) WHY C)WHY D) Because If you want to just be a partisan (which ain't very conservative, BTW) and blame the OTHER party, and ignore the actually constitutional structures that have formed and maintained this great nation... If you actually think free markets exist, in the real world, without the maintenance of a high quality state apparatus... If you think that Our State Apparatus - the constitutional structures, and their intended power roles - doesn't really do anything worth while, and wonder why oligarchy forms in Russia. If you think those things, I don't think you know what the fuck you're talking about Regards, LiveFreeOrDie Posted by: LiveFreeOrDie at September 19, 2008 06:40 PM (K6ZFt) 62

Trillion dollar bailout!
the ppl who argue for this bailout act like the U.S. Tres. and the Fed are coming to our rescue. the only way they can come up with this kind of cash is by creating it out of thin air! printing money with no real-world value decreases the value of the currency already in circulation.
If the dollar in my pocket suddenly only buys 50 cents worth of goods or services, how have I been rescued? this is the first thought that came to my mind when I heard about this, well after the long string of expletives. Posted by: shoey at September 19, 2008 09:43 PM (RxUMK) 66
65 shoey - exactly right! Here's an example how I got screwed today (maybe a lot of you too.) I have a cash position in my portfolio. The position has to be safe and liquid, so I went with FDIC and FSLIC accts, and PAID by accepting a low yield. Apparently a whole bunch of morons put their cash position in money market accts, which have no FDIC/FSLIC, and so they were SUPPOSED TO BE accepting the higher risk to gain their HIGHER yields. Today, all of a sudden, the fucking govt (which is now Bernanke and Paulson) decides "Hey, all you money market depositors, who have profited by supposedly accepting higher risk, are now MAGICALLY EXEMPT FROM THE RISK THEY ASSUMED WHILE ACCUMULATING HIGHER YIELDS than poor old stupid cautious gp. "In all fairness, there are people who are a lot more directly responsible than Obama, " In all fairness, 3/4ths of those people are now working for Obama's campaign, plus were paying him off the whole time they were "working" at Fraudie Mac and FNMC. "I gave a list. Every one of the issues on my list is empowered by NAFTA. " What you left out was the connection from NAFTA to ACORN. So if you've got one, you should show it. 37 / jp You know what's more irritating than an off-topic troll? A repetitive superstitious off-topic troll, with scriptural "answers" to non-questions that they posed under a different sockpuppet. Feel free to take that personally. printing boatloads of cash that has no real-world value is only going to make things way worse, if we keep going this way the crash that eventually will come is going to be even worse than the crash of 1929. the bigger you make a house of cards, the smaller the gust of wind it takes to knock it down.

Regarding #52 Close, but maybe this is a bit better - McCain = responsible, leadership, Country first, which leads to success Obama = irresponsible, abdication, Obama first, which leads to failure
BTW - For the Feds to step in like they have and to take such controversial and unusual actions, indicates that the financial situation is very serious, perhaps grim. I am seriously pissed that those of us who have been responsible with our debt by living within our means and have invested prudently avoiding high risk investments are the very ones that have to suffer the pain of a devalued dollar and increased taxes to bail out those executives who took unreasonable risk and those greedy morons who bought property and got mortgages they couldn't afford. Why are we rewarding bad behavior and irresponsibility by bailing them out. Posted by: FrankReality at September 19, 2008 11:41 PM (EZTZx) 77
"BTW - For the Feds to step in like they have and to take such controversial and unusual actions, indicates that the financial situation is very serious, perhaps grim." Yes, absolutely, unelected Bernanke/Paulson SAID it was so bad, and the SECOND-HAND reports of the REACTIONS of all the assholes who were PRIVELEGED enough to hear their scary story is supposed to convince all of us that we need to SAVE THE RISKIEST and SCREW THE SAFEST. Yeah, that's good enough for me. Our wealth has been confiscated by those folks who KNOW SO MUCH MORE THAN WE DO. Okey Dokey. SAVE THE RISKIEST and SCREW THE SAFEST. That's the Valu-Rite Vodak talking. Posted by: gp at September 20, 2008 12:16 AM (9OT+1) Posted by: mojo at September 20, 2008 11:19 AM (X19ob) 79
<quote>This is the man who would be president. He doesn't support the
bailout; he also doesn't oppose it. And if you say he doesn't support
it, he angrily fires back, "Not so, I merely said I didn't support it."
This is the guy who's going to lead us. This fucking guy. Captain Bullshit. Senator Present</quote> No Ace, He isnt going to lead US, he is going to lead the enemy who will have taken over our nations capitol without having fired a shot. It will be upon us to find a leader who can lead us in the battle to return it to the people of this nation who still believe in the Constitution and the vision of its architects.. Make fun of his non-position all you want, but he and his strategists are getting the last laugh. The fact is, only people on forums like this actually hear about idiocy like this. Everybody else listens to the radio and watches the news. And what THEY hear is that this mess happened while Bush was President and we can't afford four more years of it. We need Change! The message works because the newspapers, the radio DJ's, and network news plays along. The single most important issue facing us is the bias in the news. It's like fighting a war when the other side has all the air-power. Eventually we are going to lose everything, and for good. Posted by: Steve O at September 20, 2008 02:40 PM (z7c3k) 81
