The Doom Ticket
Update: Improved Image

Just throwing this up. Lee suggested that the gay gossip site and antisemitic conspiracy newsletter The Atlantic had photographed McCain to look just like Lex Luthor, so Aaron photoshopped in some associates from the Legion of Doom (Black Manta and Solomon Grundy). I added the text and slogan.

Update: The old version looked crappy. This one's better.

6 I know you want to dip your balls in my picture. Go ahead, I do.

This will be my official White House portrait. It will be redone in oil and copies will be placed in the lobbies of American embassies around the world.

The original will no doubt hang on the wall of the Oval Office during the Palin and Jindal Administrations.

Did anyone watch SNL tonight and there condescending anti religion Bull Shit.  The lefties in NYC just don't get it.  They are just pouring gas on the fire.

Who writes that tone death shit?  Are they from outer space or just the west side?

Really boring and FLAT.  Wish the "O" had shown up, it would have killed him even more.

12 Saturday Night Live's political stuff jumped the shark a long time ago. Phil Hartman's portrayal of Ronald Reagan as a slave-driving geopolitical genius who only pretended to be folksy was fantastic, and Dana Carvey's Ross Perot was comedy gold. (Jesus - has it really been 16 years since that election?)

Chevy Chase's Gerald Ford is unwatchable, though Dan Ackroyd did well as Carter, but not as Nixon.

Y'know, I wanna add my voice to The Collective 'bout this being my favorite photo of McCain evah! (Not, you unnerstan', that I have ever spent a lot of time gazing at McCain photos: no-no-no! But.)

He just looks here like the kind'a character that would scare the shit out of someone contemplating something against the USA ...hmm, kind'a like that old story out of Beirut in the '80's,  about what the KGB did when some Islamic whack-jobs kidnapped some Soviet apparatchiks ...and the KGB went out and kidnapped some of the kidnapper's families ...and mailed the kidnappers an ear. (Yes, they got their people back.)

He really looks like he could that.

I like that.

I'd trust a president who would do that.

Posted by: davis,br at September 14, 2008 02:47 AM (zewwG)

18 Seriously, that's a good picture.  If Obama had one single photo conveying that kind of gravitas he'd be up more in the polls.

Can't wait for him to try!

Who would you want at the helm?

Or glowering Dr. Doom with his sidekick the steely-eyed Mrs. Captain America?

23 Seems a little ironic that SNL would portray Palin as a ditzy beauty queen who doesn't deserve to be where she is after they spent so much time complaining about Hillary being mistreated because she's a woman. Especially since they portrayed Palin that way in a skit, wait for it, complaining about sexism in the media.

Now all we need is an "Obey" poster featuring McCain and we're set.

There's a lot of character in his face. And I don't feel like arguing with him, either.

I really hate these bastards for making me like McCain. After he's elected we're still going to actively oppose his more mavericky agenda items, right?

Posted by: lauraw at September 14, 2008 07:25 AM (DbybK)

31 Lauraw, I'm hoping the big crowds and grassroots lovin' will change McCain. He's never had this kind of adulation before, and the media has never pissed all over him before. I'm hoping he shifts his anger to the press and his desire to be mavericky in a libertarianish direction.

On the other hand, I drink heavily and have poor judgment.

The Best SNL bit on Ronnie Raygun was where he thought he was an actor in a  movie about being POTUS.

When he was shot, they had him saying, "Aren't they supposed to use blanks? I liked the movie where I was governor of California a lot better".

Yeah! Complete strangers posting on a web-site likes what I do. My life now have meaning.

Seriously, thanks for the kudos

It is an Alex Ross painting from the "Justice" limited series a couple years back. When an earlier commenter mentioned Solomon Grundy and Black Manta should be behind Lex McCain, it sparked my memory and I went into my geekcave, found the perfect picture in my collection, scanned and photoshopped (AoS did the caption) And that's not Aquaman, it's Aqualad his boy toy side-kick.

Posted by: Aaron at September 14, 2008 11:44 AM (NMlyI)

48 God, I liked that picture even when I first saw it and the dumb bitch female photog was bragging about it.  I thought, damn!  That makes him look like a read ass-kicker.  This is even better.  I've emailed it a lot (with attribution).

It immediately reminds you, I think, that *NO* camera trickery or photoshoppery can make Obama look like anything but a wimp pussy.  I was kinda looking forward to posters of Obama and Edwards as the two biggest pussies you could imagine.  Obama and Biden is just a pussy and a wimp.  Or maybe a pussy and a 'tard.  Got any ideas for a poster of that, Aaron?

I mean, Obama makes Urkel look like McCain.  And Edwards messing with his hair doesn't really remind anyone of Fonzie, who did the same and was cool.  Biden just looks lost.

I especially giggled the other day when at some Obama event or other day (probably the one where he stood up and defiantly claimed he refused to be bullied by a girl [just before he started whining about how mean she is]) when the background music was "I Won't Back Down!"  I mean, given pussy Obama trying to sound brave and then that music, I couldn't guffaw.  It wouldn't be fitting.  Hysterical giggling seemed more a propos.

64 In response to #14 Jawbone (02:28 AM) -- I also just got back from seeing Burn After Reading, in San Francisco of all places, and after the trailer for "W", when I was sure people would be hooting and hollering there was mostly silence, with a few forced laughs here and there. The mood has changed. Something in the air is different.

But as for the movie, it definitely wasn't "eh" - it was one of the Coen Brothers better movies, probably the best since Oh Brother, with plenty of their old Blood Simple moves.

Chalk this up to Reason 2,291,340 why the Democrats. Just. Don't. Get. It.

But I admit, I loved the "I am John McCain, and I approve of this photo, beeyotch!"

I can actually see this man staring down Vladimr Putin, and saying "Go ahead, make my day."  This photo should be everywhere.  Does the left really think making McCain look TOUGH will turn off the republican base?  Only the left would think that electing a man whose wife looks infinitely more menacing than he does is a good thing.  That little "fist bump" Barak gave his wife cinched it for me.  A real man doesn't "fist-bump" a chick, unless she just beat him in an arm-wrestling match...
