How the Koz Kidz Observed September 11

twincopyhh5.jpg

Here.

Oh, that is rich. That is precious.

Hey, stop me if you heard this one before--

It's funny. It's funny because it's true.

What, you don't get it? Well nothing's funny if you analyze it to death.

I have a screencap, too, for when they inevitably yank it.

Don't question their patriotism, though.

And don't question the patriotism of Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, Keith Olbermann and other assorted Koz Kidz, either.

Thanks to DP.

Because they are the only ones wise enough to perceive his delicate nuancy message about the media, right. The thing is, though, that message is incorrect.
Who in the media was rejoicing about having to show that day? It seemed like a day of somber memorials and people remembering where they were and what they were doing when the planes hit. All perfectly normal stuff.
So who, precisely, is the one suffering from a faulty grasp of reality again?

I think it's the person who came up with a picture that reflects their truly ugly sentiments and then tries to pass it off as some half-baked media criticism to cover their shameful ass.

30 The following is a 9/11 anniversary post at local talk site I visit titled;
Sept 11th Trivia.
[name redacted]
What country's elected government was overthrown on September 11, 1973. I'll give you some hints:1. The U.S. had a role in the coup.2. It overthrew an elected government.3. Said government respected human rights, but4. Said government was interested in helping its own people rather than lining the pockets of its own and the U.S. ruling class.5. final hint - Henry Kissinger said of it - "I don't see why we need to stand by and watch a country go communist due to the irresponsibility of its own people. The issues are much too important for the Chilean voters to be left to decide for themselves." The answer - ChileOkay. Trivia QUestion 2 - On September 11, 1999, this Mayan-Chinese Guatemalan was murdered for her human rights work on behalf of Guatemala's uprooted native peoples. Hint: The U.S. started the Civil War in this country by overthrowing an elected president.Hint: The president's crime - Nationalizing unused United Fruit property and paying the company the undervalued amount the company claimed it was worth (for tax purposes).Hint - The U.S. backed the government repression.Answer - GuatemalaOkay.... time for another. September 11, 1977, this man was getting the shit beat out of him by a u.s. supported racist government. He died the next day from his injuries.Answer - South Africa's Steve Biko (yes, from the peter gabriel song).*Yes, September 11, 2001 was tragic, but hardly the first time blood has been spilled. You have to remember that what happened on 9-11-01, the U.S. has been causing on this and foreign soil for generations.*

31 1. This would make a nice card to cheer Keef up. He was pretty down about the 9-11 imagery the evil Republicans used, you recall.
2. This is the liberal version of chickenhawkism: look how brave we are! We can make fun of things!
3. It should be really hilarious to see how "over it" they are regarding Martin Luther King, Jr. I mean, that was way more than seven years ago!

(This may be a bit long. I just hope the thread is still active enough that a few people might see it.)

We all know that Olbermann is overreacting in this quote; that's his shtick and he's sticking with it. Fine, whatever. But I urge you go to back and actually look at that video again. Not the one of Olbermann, but of the actual "graphic" video that was aired at the RNC.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/09/05/keith-olbermann-apologize_n_124179.html

I think you will agree there is nothing graphic about it. You do not see a single image of a human being even suffering, must less killed. (There is one quick cut of someone being dragged out on a stretcher, but that's not from the 9/11 footage that Keith is referring to. It appears to be from one of the '90s embassy bombings.) All you see is pictures of damaged and destroyed objects. There wasn't even a single image used of a jumper. Are these snippets of video unpleasant to recall? Of course. But graphic? Not a chance.

So we've put Keith's BS out of the way. That's not really the point of my post though. Instead, I want you to think beyond Keith's immediate statement. There was nothing graphic shown here, but then, neither was there anything particularly graphic shown on 9/11 itself. Sure, we saw tiny bits of video of people jumping, and some still photos of jumpers in mid-air that were as close-up as the photographers could manage at the time. But true graphic material? The number of instances of those can be counted on the fingers of a single hand, and even those were printed/aired once and then never shown again.

Now, it's generally accepted by journalists and historians that the WTC attack was the single most well-documented, photographed, and filmed/videotaped event in all of human history. After all, it happened on a beautiful weekday morning in the media capital of the world. The infrastructure and the personnel were all less than five miles away from Ground Zero at most, and a decent percentage of them were headquartered literally just a few thousand feet away.

So, think about it for just one moment. Where, exactly, are the truly graphic images? This was not just a day where a couple of buildings got knocked down. It was a day where roughly 2600 human beings were killed, most in some of the most gruesome fashions possible. So gruesome, in fact, that we're not even certain today of the status of roughly two dozen people that were in the area at the time. But just about the only piece of "graphic" evidence that was ever published or aired was a single image of a severed hand in the New York Daily News on 9/12, and even that was only after much debate by its editors.

(For evidence of this, please see this book review by Garrison Keillor. I urge you to read it, even though it's by Garrison Keillor: http://www.nytimes.com/2006/09/03/books/review/Keillor.t.html )

At this point, you may be asking, "So what?" Well, the point is that this video footage, these photographs, of the most horrific atrocities perpetuated against human beings on that day, all exist. Tons of them. Unimaginable gore. And the MSM, The Deciders, the Manhattan media elite, made the decision right then and there, as that horrible day was still progressing, not to show them to the American people. Not that day, not the next day, not ever. They're all locked away.

To be fair, a small percentage of the editors and executives involved in making these decisions wanted to hide them away on grounds of simple taste, that because they would be completely unacceptable to air or print any other day, likewise would they be unacceptable on that day, purely because they would make many readers and viewers physically sick. And that is a legitimate argument to make. But for the overwhelming majority of these Deciders, their reasoning was elitist and ideological. They chose not to make that sort of information available to the public because they were worried that if the public saw those images of what was really happening on the ground, the public would want revenge. The public would become bloodthirsty and call for war. And of course, to a Manhattan liberal, that would be completely unacceptable. They had to protect the world from us.
Thus was the decision made that no images of injured and killed humans would ever be allowed to see the light of day. Just too risky to get the already-panicked Flyover Public to start calling for blind attacks on some nebulous "them," don't you know.

And it worked. I have seen essays published in the past (which I'm sorry to say I cannot find at the moment) directly asking the question as to whether Americans as a whole would not have remained much more united over these intervening years, if only they had known the true extent as to how much suffering had occurred at the WTC and Pentagon on that day, the depths to which the evil had actually sunk. If only the worst parts of it had never been left to our imaginations, instead of being laid out on the table right from the beginning.

I think everyone here needs to be asking themselves that question as well.

(And for those who may have the two most obvious questions: I know because I used to be a member of the MSM in New York City. It's common knowledge there. And if you're wondering if I might be overstating the case anyway, I urge you to go to Google and run an image search on pretty much any overseas disaster or bombing that's happened in the last ten years or so. With very little effort, you'll find plenty of images of the victims of those sorts of incidents, usually straight off the websites of the local media of those areas. People that are bloodied, people that are dead and contorted, severed limbs, you name it. There, you're allowed to see what really happened and decide for yourself what the proper reaction is. But in the United States, in an act of evil that one of the most heinous ever known to mankind, The Deciders decided. And they decided you couldn't be trusted to know what actually took place there. For no other reason than that you might react in a way that they would have personally disliked.

And that should anger you almost as much as the original event itself.

I'll say it one more time. Imagine how much of the "us vs. them", "right vs. left" divide that's taken over this country in the last seven years, might have at least been toned down a bit, if only we'd been allowed access to the complete story.

42 The poster of the picture is named GW Chimpzilla, so its pretty clear what level of intellect lurks behind the posting.

The other day I made an innocuous comment to a leftist "friend" of mine along the lines of, "Regardless of your politics, you have to admit that both the Obamas and Palins have some pretty damned cute kids."

His response? "Yeah, that slut Palin daughter is pretty hot."

I just looked at him and smiled, then went about my business. Surprisingly, his comment didn't make me angry, which I think was his goal, because I realized immediately that all he'd done was reveal a smallness about himself that he'd later regret.

And the Palin's don't need me to defend them to nasty leftists - they have more class than the people who unfairly assail them could ever dream of possessing.

56 Nom nom nom,
Cunts does not solely mean "women", never has. It is the most powerful derogatory dismissive for a person I can think of regardless of sex. Much more than calling someone a "dick" for being stupid or obstinate, which is a very light insult. Dick doesn't mean "penis" or "man" in this case (derogatory dismissive) because even if you're a woman, Nom nom nom, you're being a dick about this. See? Sexless insult. Dick.
They're cunts. They're all that is horrible and wrong about that cuss word, wrapped up in smugness and hate, sipping a fuckin' latte and being shitty.
This concludes this lesson on the "derogatory dismissives/diminutives" versions of vulgarities. Later on I can offer lessons on sexual insults with specificity and mercantile overtones, liquids and the uses of "effluvia" in proper cussing, and the ever-popular compound multi-phrase cussing with references to infection and disease.

2. Name the atrocity contest. (WTC and Pentagon Plane Crash Terrorism etc. is just to unwieldy. We need something short and snappy, like the USS Cole Incident. The prize could be a Twin Towers Tote bag or something.
3. "New York faces huge glut of donuts, due to shortage of cops and firemen after WTC Attack"
you get the idea

61 I don't know who wrote that but they have nothing to do with the site
I haven't been there for 7 years so I dunno what that is all about
I've only been associated with the site for 2 years
That page doesn't exist though and it's not on the WayBack Machine either.
You'll have to come up with something a little newer than that :p

Posted by: docweasel at September 12, 2008 01:54 PM (XmjZg)

62 Oh, it comes up on google. And I archived the site, to boot.

Whichever Weasel you are, your bandleader Guy admitted he sent his little Weasels out to boost his site. So shut up. Liar.

Posted by: SarahW at September 12, 2008 02:02 PM (7sl9X)

63 And if you don't want to be associated with that crap, get your own name.

Posted by: SarahW at September 12, 2008 02:03 PM (7sl9X)

64 Fuck you sarah, what is your problem? Archived the site? That's a neat trick, its 20k pages. There have been over 50 people who have contributed to the site since 1997, artists, writers, etc. It was conceived as a netmag type of thing. You expect me to be responsible for everything ever written there? I'm not in charge I never have been. I don't know "Guy", I've never met the person, it was probably a pseudonym, no one who works on the site gives their real name to keep stalkers like you off their butt. You don't even have an example you merely post something you copied and pasted that wasn't even off the site, it was off some forum from 7 years ago. So how do you expect me to respond to that.

65 Liar.

Posted by: SarahW at September 12, 2008 02:30 PM (7sl9X)

66 This whole Sarah/docweasel thing is kind of interesting, given the whole "name google guilt" undertone. Makes me think about my user name and what kind of history it has that is independent from me.
This makes me wonder if there are any other Inspector Assholes out there, in the darkness, doing the lonely job I do.Far away from hearth and home, hat pulled down against their forehead, trudging along some gritty road to yet another appointment with the Job.
Hearing the high whisper of rain as it slants through the branches of dead trees up ahead; feelingtheworn shoescrunching through the occasional errant gravel on the cracked sidewalk, we do our duty.
Inspecting, rudely.
The worst part is ringing the doorbell. The second worst part is explaining why you're there.
The easy part is the Calling Of Names, actually.
It doesn't pay well, but there are always new clients. Credit reporting agencies, utility companies, and oh lord! The volume we get from the IRS.
"Go here," they say, "Then tell them they smell like boiled socks!" they demand.
Sometimes, well, you bend the rules a bit. Deliberately misunderstand the commission - after all, the Board of Directors for State Lumber isn't going to double check whether you Called a Name correctly - that's why they hire you - a professional in the first place. So, you see a person come to the door with their receipts and a tear in their eyes, and you call them a Dandy Dame instead of a Fucking Shiteating Cancer On Humanity. No one's going to check.
There's so little joy in this world, and when you can avoid telling someone that their Mother Ate Vomit Sandwiches and Masturbated With Corpses because the old lady just kicked the bucket and the client was overreaching for a late payment on a bicycle, you can lessen their pain by "accidentally" switching Client Name with the Calling of Name and so tell them that the Manager at the downtown Sears is indescribably awful.
It's the little things that make the job go well.

67 Guy still takes revenue from your site.
Docweasel is what is is. Shills for that site pulled that crap less than a week after 9/11 If you haven't figured it out by now, good luck to you.

Posted by: SarahW at September 12, 2008 02:33 PM (7sl9X)

68 No, he doesn't "take revenue for the site"- I don't know who you are talking about. The site doesn't collect "revenue" from contributors. It's supported by banners from sites our boss hosts on his servers, gambling and adult sites. Big deal. That's what makes money on the net and it's one of the few E/N sites that actually pays for it's own bandwidth instead of just being a vanity site, like most blogs and websites that dont' actually sell anything.

What I have been able to find out is that last October you sent an email offering to pitch in on bandwidth. No one asked for contributions, I don't know what your motive was but you contacted the doc@docweasel.com email which a lot of people have access too.

A girl who goes by "Amy" got the email and politely thanked you and told you thanks but no thanks. Since then, you got into with another girl who writes for the site who is pretty stridently pro-immigration (she's Mexican, her parent are immigrants) and like a spurned lover, you seem to have developed a hate for anyone connected with the site.

Back the fuck off. I don't know you, I don't want to know you and I don't know what the fuck your problem is. If you are pissed no one would take your money, sorry, it wasn't needed. If it was some sort of internet come-on, you were talking to a girl, not a guy, so your flirting was a bit misplaced.

Just don't talk to me ok?

Posted by: docweasel at September 12, 2008 02:40 PM (XmjZg)

69 Maybe using a different handle would help, Doc. As it is, we never know which weasel we're addressing (they are apparently legion). Some are okay, some, not so much.

"Makes me think about my user name and what kind of history it has that is independent from me."
To this day it astounds me that a cheap, sleazy pun like "Huck Foley" hadn't been co-opted before I got to it, but Googling it up showed that I lucked out on that one.

The first poster indeed nailed it.

73 What gets me is the poster's defense:
"Brits prefer a stoic attitude and they don't spread fear and they simply don't go for that glittering and ghoulish public tribute nonsense on their TeeVee sets."
No ghoulish public tribute nonsense on their TeeVee sets? Are you fucking kidding me? I gots two words for this cockweasel: Princess. Fucking. Di.
Note to Kos' cockweasel: Fucking die, Princess.

76 That was posted in a comments section and is from the UK. You're
taking something out of context and acting as if they were celebrating
9-11. NYC is full of liberals, and a lot of liberals and conservatives
were killed that day by the terrorists. What does it matter anyway.
This country is so divided by ideology it will probably end up falling
apart. It's sad to see how much people who have a lot in common can
hate each other so much--i.e. Americans who support different political
candidates.

Posted by: JohnLiu at September 12, 2008 06:45 PM (cUD2D)

77 I disagree. The original thread is titled "I Hate 9/11" and we can only guess at the context, but judging by this post and these few comments, plus liberal tropes, I'd say they hate 9/11 because they see Americans using it to celebrate patriotism and what they see as jingoism, American exceptionalism, etc. etc. all of which is anathema to liberals, who believe America is evil, that the world would be better off if America were impotent and not a super power, who don't think America is special or moral or basically a good country, either its government nor its citizens, and most 9/11 celebrations celebrate what it is to be American and what is good and strong and eternal about the country. They hate that stuff, it drives them batshit. They hat 4th of July too, but 9/11 conjures up images of the US kicking ass in Afghanistan (yes, we did win that war, handily, after all the dire warnings about how Russia and Great Britain had been stymied there) and the victory in Iraq that also came out of 9/11 (yes, we also won that war, handily and quickly, the insurgency was a seperate war which we are winning now).

Anyway, this image is an example of liberals ridiculing 9/11 and everything it stands for. Most Americans don't dwell on 9/11 for the US, but as a victory and a testiment to the fact that you can't defeat the US so easily with a devastating terrorist attack.(hello Spain). 9/11 also reminds liberals of 2 elections won by George W. Bush, and the impending victory of McCain.

9/11 doesn't represent a defeat for America, but it sure put a dent in America-last liberalism.

Dishonor double ignominy on these collaborators. Shameful behavior by these budding neo-Marxist fascists. I bet they laugh at genocide, they already rejoice in the Islamist death cult. Hey, if you can approve of killing babies than nothing is impossible .Including the sick , aged, or the disabled. Utopia has to be built on the bodies of the guiltless after, all perfection is at stake.
Of course to these folks pro-Zionists with Isreal(Read Jews) are the first to be targeted for their idea of tolerance.

82 > And for the poster who wrote: "Edgy of them. The cunts." Ironic choice of words. So the worst insult that you could think of to characterize the SOS that posted this was to suggest that he is a woman?

A cunt in that context is a *type* of woman. All women are not cunts, any more than "all women are bitches". Interesting, though, that **you** don't see a difference there, and that someone else has to point it out to you. Sort of says something about what you think of all women. Ironic thing to focus on, eh, what?
