B.O. on B.O. Tonight

I'm sure you've heard that Barack Obama is going on the O'Reilly Factor this evening. I don't plan to watch, but if you do, you'll be treated to a double dose of stupidity:

“I think that the surge has succeeded in ways that nobody anticipated,” Obama said while refusing to retract his initial opposition to the surge. “I’ve already said it’s succeeded beyond our wildest dreams.”

Nobody anticipated? Nobody? I thought there was just a few people who seemed pretty certain it was going to be a good strategy. Yeah, now that I think about it, there's one-- 5'11", 'bout 185, wears cowboy boots a lot. Everyone said he was a lame something-or-other. And one fellow, shorter with white hair, kinda shrugs funny (I wonder what that's about). And, of course, 45% of the whole freakin' country thought it'd be good for something.

Barack Obama has the Judgment to LeadTM, though not the judgment to admit when he totally screwed up. Will O'Reilly give him a free pass?

Thanks to geekoutofwater.

Yes. But only after praising him for having the courage to enter the No Spin Zone. And if he buys some No Spin gear.

2 Unfortunately, Bill O tends to simper when he's got a VIP on the show.

3 @mpur

I was just about to say the same thing.

He'll puss out.

Posted by: Muledriver at September 04, 2008 05:59 PM (btc7a)

4 Yeah, not only will O'Reilly fellate Obama, but he'll also be accused of using way too much teeth while doing it by the left which is kinda almost sad for Fox/O'Reilly since, really, he just can't win and he might get oral MSRA for his troubles.

That title is perfect for that show:

That strategery, Malor.

7 um, the left told me a leader who was stubborn and unwilling to admit failure or a mistake was a very, very bad thing...

I'll have to go look in my "ever changing tenets of democrat politics" stylebook, but I am pretty sure that's what they said.

“I think that the surge has succeeded in ways that nobody anticipated,” Obama said while refusing to retract his initial opposition to the surge. “I’ve already said it’s succeeded beyond our wildest dreams.”

Whenever Obama says "I've already said" or " I think I've been clear" or "my position has always been" you can bet your ass he's taking a new position.  It's a "tell" for him.  Everytime he lies about flipping he has to reinforce that he's not flipping by explicitly claiming that it was his position all along.

Yeah, now his Oneness wants to go on O'Reilly.  Bastid.

And I noticed that no one has updated O'Reilly's Wikipedia "People who decline to appear on The Factor".  I guess none of the liberal-commie-pinko Wiki editors can bring themselves to go to the O'Reilly page.

11 I know the Obama people thought they were being clever and playing "hardball" pissing on McCains's night setting up this O'Reilly interview, but I think not only will it look classless it's going to come off looking desperate and more like damage control after last night.

I bet they wish they hadn't set this up now.

16 Will he give him a free pass? He's going to give him both oral and anal if Obama asks. In fact, even if he doesn't ask, Bill will probably insist on giving hims some backdoor action.

Posted by: digitalbrownshirt at September 04, 2008 06:27 PM (25884)

17 The big "0" getting scary again.

What Obama is telling us is that in his world military commanders just kinda say "oh what the fuck - let's give it a try!"

I guess that's the attitude you carry with you in life that also allows you to vote "present" over 130 times.  "Ain't no decisions goin' on here!"

Empty pantsuit.

Posted by: Barak Obama at September 04, 2008 06:43 PM (ao5cQ)

22 I don't know, I think O'Reilly might make Barry squirm a little. Last night, Dennis Miller basically challenged O'Reilly's manhood to not take it easy on St. Thin-Skin, and I think O'Reilly's ego won't let him not hammer Obama. He'll be respectful, but he's not going to pattycake him, either.

Posted by: UGAdawg at September 04, 2008 06:45 PM (vfDNl)

23 Bill O'Reilly:  Senator, there are questions about your experience. Let's lay it on the line, here: Are you, in fact, experienced enough to be president?

Barack Obama:  Yes.

Bill O'Reilly:  Ok, then.

26 When the pre-surge ink blotting started to work, anyone with a few neurons firing realized the surge was going to work, cuz it was ink blotting writ large.

I'm sure success in Iraq was "beyond your wildest dreams," Obama.

See that's the problem--your imagination is limited only to negative outcomes in Iraq and here in the US. Not a good characteristic in a man who presumes to lead.

Posted by: Average Jen at September 04, 2008 07:03 PM (OINAg)

29 The problem with O'Reilly is that he talks a HUGE game before hand and then he bitches out during the interview.  Then he thanks the interviewee for "having the courage to come on the show."

Posted by: PDizzle at September 04, 2008 07:14 PM (btpzp)

30 I'm sure Bill's show has to negotiate exactly what can and cannot be discussed during the interview. Bill may have his hands tied in order to get the big names on his show. But he could at least hold the fawning down to a minimum.

Posted by: mpur at September 04, 2008 07:27 PM (mpAYQ)

31

I won't be watching O'Reilly. He has really gone down to try to steal McCain's thunder tonight with a wimpish interview of the Obamanation.

As for the Obamanation's quote, the 'no one could anticipate'. You have to translate Obamaspeak. The only opinion that counts is the Obamanation's opinion. Since HE was of the opinion that the surge would spectacularly fail, obviously NO ONE could anticipate it would succeed since HE could not entertain the facts that would support the success of the surge.

In fact this is like the Obamanation's other statements that EVERY military advisor (or other crony or staff member that he puts into this phrase) says X, which is usually a radical leftist anti american policy. He will also use this in the negative saying EVERY so and so says the republican policy will be a disasterous failure. However, the only opinion that matters is the Obamanation's opinion (the Obamanation is thus EVERY military advisor (or staff member or economist, etc. that he allegedly has consulted.)

32 Obama is REALLY desperate.  Hillary finally came on O'Reilly when it was way too late.

Posted by: marchand chronicles at September 04, 2008 08:41 PM (Bj/HA)

33 OK, just watched it.  In fairness to O'Reilly, (who's not one of my favorites), he did press him rather hard on this topic and asked the Messiah why he was incapable of admitting a mistake.  But, Bill did stop short.  I would have waterboarded this cocksucker until he admitted it.  But hey, that's just me.

Posted by: pistolero at September 04, 2008 09:23 PM (hBUN7)

34 Nobody thought it would succeed?  You mean our generals just decided to send more guys out there for no reason at all?  They knew it wouldn't work, and that it would cost a lot of money, but hey, the war was lost anyway, so we might as well do something?

I think Obama has jumped the shark.
