Awesome! I'm sure they'll stick around for a long time!!!

Warden writes:

Hey, ace. I'm cutting and pasting some of the nastiness left by these "concern trolls." So easy to pick them out. While the rest of us regulars have gay-assed names like "Warden" and "Hollowpoint" they almost uniformly use pseudonyms like claire, bob, and jack.

No creativity.

Anyway, I think you should put these quotes up in the form of a post. I can't remember a time when the left has so publicly revealed its underlying nastiness. You're on fucking fire. Keep it going. Feed the outrage. This shit is getting all of us fired up.

Here's some good ones:

Who knows - maybe we will find out next that Bristol’s baby and Trig have the same father. Those Alaska nights get pretty cold, and Mr. Palin often goes off for extended trip working the oil fields, snowmobile races etc. and for Eskimos wife sharing is one of their customs.

Posted by: the thor helm at September 01, 2008 07:35 PM (3o8KD)

My only prayer is for Sarah to come clean with the American public and admit that Bristol is the mother of the first child (Obviously) and that the daughter is two to three months along now.

Posted by: Bill Stein at September 01, 2008 07:16 PM (+TMrY)

Congratulations?" For what, exactly? An unplanned pregnancy? A shotgun marriage at 17? Most of us are not fully formed people at 17, and are not in the position to make life-altering, permanent decisions. This girl will miss the opportunity to go to college, grow up, and figure out who she is. Instead, she'll be saddled with a kid. Pathetic. Do we really want this trailer trash in office?

Posted by: claire at September 01, 2008 07:13 PM (XJk0l)

Nice, McCain. What kind of soldier uses a pregnant 17-year-old girl as a political shield? You knew what this was going to do, how it would divert attention away from your policies. You are throwing Bristol under the bus.

Posted by: Lucas at September 01, 2008 03:25 PM (isw8J)

Well, this calls into question the kind of "family values" she would bring to the White House -- having a teenage daughter that got knocked up by an 8th grader. Clearly, those hard-core Christian values were not at play in the Palin household. What was McCain thinking? I guess it locks up the Alaska white trash vote.

Posted by: Centreparkguy at September 01, 2008 03:08 PM (ourah)

How nice that Gov. Palin knew about her daughter's pregnancy and decided to accept VP nomination. "Hey, Bristol, you think having a baby at 16 will be hard. How about I turn the entire country's ire on you?" What mother would do that to her daughter. You gotta question Palin's judgment. That is just mean to parade her daughter through the mud for her own opportunity.

I wonder where these long-time readers, first-time commenters are coming from.

We kinda know our trolls over here. We don't have many, oddly enough. We have a few trolls, and a few non-trollish liberals.

Now all of a sudden we have all these people comin' by to let us know how concerned they are that the moral fabric of America might unravel because of Sarah Palin.

Just interesting.

I don't know if some jackass lefty site is organizing this, or if it's just part of the Sarah Palin phenomenon. It's like everyone needs to get on the computer about this.

If you step back for a second and look at the people who support Obama you can see why they are worried. They are trying to tell us that Obama has enough experience to be president because he has been thinking about foreign policy, while she is way too inexperienced to be vice president.

Look, look at his face!!! He will unite the world around a vision of what America could be!!!

At best it's a waste of time.  At worst, it's pissing off conservatives who don't really like McCain, but dislike this vile behavior enough to want to jam it up their asses as payback.

Part of me worries about tipping them off, but I don't really thinks it's about tactics for these little brownshirt wannabes.  These are miserable, nasty little fuckers filled with pettiness and hatred. I think they've simply found a convenient target.

Hey, if you can't build yourself up, why not try to tear everyone else down?  Then maybe you won't have to feel like such a failure, right?  You don't think these people are living happy, fulfilled lives do you?

Personally, I'm torn. On the one hand, I'm both disgusted and enraged by this behavior.  On the other hand, I want as many moderates and independents as possible to get a good, hard look at the far left.

This is who they are.  This is who they've always been.

These are the "Demos", the "smartest" people in the world. Actually, they are "the Doritos" (or is the Oracel the Doritos? It's one of the two).

Many are "philosophers of Po-Mo." Some may even be trained in "a bullshit so deep and complex and angry" that mere mortals are sometimes "driven to piss their togas". Might even be a "community organizer" or two among them.

You’d see more, but most are actually "retards and got busted for DUI on the chariot ride over".  Apparently, "blunts and chiva" and "Trans-Ams" don't necessarily mix.

The ones that do manage to post something at least partly coherent need a good spanking (think of this as 2- or 3-iron practice), at least till their mellow kick in.

Unless that decision involves crossing state lines to have an abortion, natch.

"I want as many moderates and independents as possible to get a good, hard look at the far left.

I was just thinking that.  The Kossites are performing a great service to McCain with swing voters."

It would be good for the conservatives to add moderates. Instead of trying to constantly define conservative it needs to be a 7O\3O party. It is not healthy to agree with more than 7O% of the things a politician says anyway.

Ace, the best thing people could do with the least effort is to raise the general level of discourse on the conservative side of the internet. There may be voters who would cross over, but they are turned off by people running their mouths and it is pushing them away from a candidate who could pass as a conservative democrat. If everybody, mostly comment sections, steps it up and focuses their attention on being rational and avoiding hatred in general it may help in the real world.

The internet is nasty, but watching the Kos Kids yesterday is a good example of what not to do. If most conservatives behave on the internet the way they would in the real world it may create room in cyberspace for conservative democrats and independents. If it is the opposite of yesterdays Kos Kids it could actually help and it certainly will not hurt.

90 Another lurker, like krukke (#26), making the same observation.

Over the last few days I've gone through my - lengthy - list of bookmarked blogs many times.  My list is mainly comprised of political, conservative bloggers, but differs widely in terms of focus or specialty, e.g. judicial system, psychology, Canada, Britain, vodka swillers, hobo hunters, That Gang That Jonah Goldberg Lets Post On His Blog.

Every mention of Sarah Palin, on every blog, has received the same strange pattern of comments.  Talking Point 1, refutation, Talking Point 2, refutation, Talking Point 3... very similar, if not identical, language.  Even the same smarmy, oh so level headed entreaty that we should all be careful not to - I don't know - like her too quickly(?), until we've learned all of the horrible possibilities that surely have been kept hidden about this Stranger in a Strange Land.  This last, even on blogs that have been discussing the Palin pros and cons for months, yet the comment is clearly designed to look like it comes from a regular, who just wants to protect the Republican Brand.

It's that last bit that's the creepiest, enough to bring me out of lurk mode, because it's all just too clever by half.  Like something designed to come in under the radar, but obvious because it tries to imitate something it doesn't actually understand, and because it was so widely proliferated.

Had there been an Urgent Action posting on Kos, or by email, we'd surely have seen it by now.  Those always go out too indiscriminately to stay hidden, and too many of us love to pass them around, if only for the lulz.  This one was so much "cleverer by half" that it reeks of something more organized.  I'm willing to bet that, should a group of right wing bloggers compare notes, they'd find a synchronicity of writing style, IP addresses, etc..., that would be very revealing. (hint, hint)

95 The latest troll action is about more than Palin.  The Dems chances have been diminishing consistently over the past few months.  Its just a few days after the DNC at its almost a statistical tie.

Less than a year ago, I thought the GOP was dead in the water.  They had
an extremely unpopular incumbent,
a populace that was tiring of the Iraq situation,
a huge real-estate market bubble burst that was threatening to take out the whole economy, and
the mass media unabashedly cheer leading for every viable Dem candidate.

Now it looks like the GOP could pull this off.

And one of the main reasons is that the Dems are fucking this up big time.  This is driving the Leftard crazy.  Expect it to get worse as more of the nutroots figure this out.

96 I agree with the bug-spray analogy.  I think we ought to take a collection to buy a bunch of Palin 2012 ad airtime on MSNBC.  About five minutes later you'd have this big red splat on the camera lens that used to be Keith Olbermann's spleen.   And a standing ovation would be heard across the land.

A year ago I'd have said that I'd cut off my hands with an angle grinder before I'd push the button for John McCain.  Today I contributed to the campaign, first time I've ever sent money to a national race.

About 20 years ago, I was acquainted with a gnetleman who had come up through the legal profession to eventually sit on the New York Court of Appeals. He was a gentleman of legendary repute, but was magnamimous enough to associate with a humble urchin like myself.

One of his recurring stories was told to reinforce a valuable life skill: when he became a partner in his first law firm, it fell to him to train some of the junior associates. They would come to him with elaborate case histories and equally sized opening arguments. He had one piece of advice- "Cut out the details".

Cut out the details.

121 On the subject of motivation:

At first I couldn't figure out what they were angling for.  It should have been obvious, after the first 50 or so attempts to educate us, that we simply aren't trainable.  Maybe, I figured, they were hoping to reach that elusive creature, the undecided voter blog post reader.

Maybe that's what they tell each other, at their Operation Smear the Unbelievers meetings, but now I think it's a lot more... primal.  They're hurting.  When Obama came along, they thought they had the real thing.  Come on, you've seen dri's American Awakening post - and most of us are feeling it.

Now imagine.  Stories start trickling out about the Palins.  Not the silly none-of-anybody's-business crap that the left is peddling, but things that are really disturbing to us (as opposed to the cardboard cut-out cartoon versions of us that can be scandalized by unholy swimsuit immodesty).  I don't think the left is really all that cool with the Rev. Wright, or Rezko, or even Ayers, but, because of the cone of silence the media provided, these things leaked out slowly and painfully.  Imagine if that had been Palin, except months from now, after we'd invested a lot of faith and admiration.  It has to have been very painful.

The right would start discussing evidence of a disturbing association.  They'd jump in to defend the O, screaming his innocence.  More evidence would emerge.  That sick feeling.  They'd have to reject that feeling, so they'd scream louder.  By the time all of the evidence came spilling out, irrefutably, they had put their necks so far into the noose that there wasn't any choice left but to jump.  Now imagine this happening over and over, for the last year.  (This is similar, by the way, to my theory about how the nazis were able to convince a whole country to join the dark side.)

I think they just want us to hurt as much as they're hurting.  They blame us for Obama's clay feet, they believe that conservatives are evil, so they're absolutely certain that clay (or worse) is all that could be propping up our guys.  They don't believe that we followed actual evidence to unmask him - after all, we're not that smart - so they do a cargo cult coca cola ritual and hope that they'll end up with something real.  Just like we did.  So there!

126 It's not like Obama is in a vacuum.  Like it or not, but I represent Mccain.  And Andrew Sullivan represents Obama.  Trolls on either side represent either side of a culture war.  I vote for Mccain just as much for my father in law and my first Platoom Sergeant as I do for Mccain himself.

It's about the direction in general of this society we're in, and every bleach attacks grandma and every war protesting pot smoker firms my view that we need to vote for Republicans.  Just as many conservative jackasses influence against Mccain.

Perhaps everyone doesn't do it this way.  But I bet a lot of undecideds do.  They will see which side they like more and which side they dislike more.  If they notice that Republicans did not assault any democrats at their convention, that Republicans aren't harassing Obama's family much, and that kind of stuff, while noting that Palin and Mccain both are attacks viciously and randomly, and all that kind of thing, I think it will have a huge effect on the polls.

130 Hell, I chose my handle because it's self descriptive and MUCH more macho than my REAL name!

As to the troll blitz, seriously, are they deluded enough to think that they're going to change anyone's mind? This is the political blogosphere: most everyone here is pretty well polarized already! If you are of the the pathologically undecided, politics is icky and boring and the people who obsess about it are creepy. Most of us know what we like and know that we know better than anybody else, too. That's what makes this site so much fun (two commenters, three opinions). I think what this is is a little bit of organized truth-to-power, the equivalent of shouting at a political rally or holding up an obnoxious sign at someone's speech. How organized, I don't know, and I won't speculate on how high it might go.

As to the driveling hate coming from across the aisle and directed towards Gov. Palin and her family (stay classy you guys), you know you're over the target when you start taking flak. On a more personal note, fuck 'em all and we'll see who really wants "change" come November.
