Supposedly this is "Todd Palin" ragging on his wife, and expressing his horror at being upstaged by her, upon being informed that his wife has been elected mayor.

Couple of problems: 1, it doesn't look like him, 2, he has a strange case of emphysema that one wouldn't expect from a young athletic man, 3, it sounds ludicrously scripted as he makes what should be subtext pure text and repeats his daughter's name -- "Bristol" -- sixty-three thousand times, to prove that it's "real."

How many times do you say the name of the person you're speaking to in a single conversation?

I also like the versimilitude of it, as he offers a very convincing, very detailed bit of business about commercial fishing: "Daddy's going fishing today... he's got some new nets."

Gotta be real. Who else but a commercial fisherman would be so fluent with details about the trade like "nets"?

Update: A commenter points out -- hey, check out the advanced, miniaturized cell phone technology they had only in Alaska back in 1996! The rest of us, meanwhile, had to use landlines, with only Power Brokers and Drug Kingpins having cell phones, which were the size of a boot.

Alaska's a backwater? Nonsense. It's at least a full tech level ahead of us. The secret? Special snow-based technology. The Eskimos have over forty words for "integrated circuit."

Remember: This is a source that Alan Fucking Colmes trusts.

I have to stress: This is being seriously offered by those on the left as real. Not a parody, not a bit of snark, but real.

Even in the small town where I worked (2,000 citizens) the 5 person council had the option of taking the health care program. Most of the time, their spouses, or their full time job, had a better program, but the option was there.

81 Okay... you obviously know nothing about Bristol Bay or where Mr. Palin fishes. Bristol Bay is a short fishery in the summer only. They would not be "at home" but on a boat (and if not sleeping on the boat) or in a small cabin. The times of openings are plenty however, only when the State allows (a very regulated fishery), and fisherman and crew don't leave the fishery until it is completed (late June thru the end of July or so). For 25 to 30 days, no one sleeps or does much but fish. They fish constantly around the clock when allowed to by the State (enforcement) during "openings." I don't know when the Wasilla mayor's election was, but I highly doubt it was in June or July as most people in Alaska incredibly busy. This man looks nothing like Todd Palin. This has got to be one of the silliest things to come out. Are you nuts?!? Any Bristol Bay fisherman knows the season and the work (incredibly hard and difficult) and his daughter and/or children (if there) would be sleeping too so they could go out and work when the next opening allowed it. Commercial fishing is brutal. The left is unhinged... Come on...

Now let me add a couple more:

Notice how the video pixillates at about 0:32 in? Yep. 1996 VHS technology did that all the time. (I suppose one could argue that happened in transfer, but its not likely.) Since he was able to get magic time traveling elves to give him a modern cell phone, why not a modern digital video camera, too while they were making the inter-dimensional jump?

Also, notice how remarkable still the camera stays? Have any of you ever seen a video camera being handled by a 5 year old child? (Bristol is 17 in 2008. 2008-1996=12. 17-12=5.) Must be a child prodigy of some sort.

Last, does that sound like the voice of a 5 year old to ANYBODY??? If the child whose voice that is is actually 5, I will eat the keyboard I am typing with!
