New Theory! The daughter got pregnant, but to hide that fact, they aborted it, and then Sarah Palin faked a pregnancy "as a distraction."

Then they hunted and killed a pregnant teenaged runaway and presented this changeling-baby as Sarah Palin's own.

Which only tells me one thing: We need this fucking woman as Vice President. Or at least Director of Operations at the CIA.

As my friend not_steve_in_hb said (cleaned up to be slightly more respectful), Sarah Palin is the first vice presidential candidate worthy of sexual fantasies since Lloyd Bentsen.

Is It Over? Sullivan, Daily Kos Diarist declare "scandal' over based on these flickr pictures... until, of course, a Daily Kos Diarist "proves" they're fake, or we see those very-scientific "fat suit comparison" I predicted earlier.

You can either take my word for it or check these sites yourself. I'm not linking them.

Not Over... For God's sake, they won't stop. Having had their first attack on the daughter disproven, now they're launching a direct attack on her (without even the pretense of attacking Sarah Palin for "dishonesty").

Now they're saying, oh, we were wrong, she wasn't pregnant then, she's secretly pregnant now.

Some of the elements from the previous smear are simply being recycled, but set in present rather than six months ago. Now, you see, the daughter is mysteriously absent from school, etc.

All that stuff about her being absent from school before? Oh, we were just funnin'. Now you can believe the crap we're just making up as we go. It's now she's mysteriously absent and hidden.

I would suggest that maybe Karl Rove himself started this story.
By getting everyone in a tizzy over the grandmother angle he gets us all to stew over it for a few days. Then proof that the Gov is the mother surfaces and we all have black eyes. This also damages DailyKos and other reality based sites.
Then someone else tries to bring up the flying on the plane story while 8 months pregnant with a high risk pregnancy. The media then fires back: "We already looked at that pregnancy story, why don't you just drop it."
And that's what happens, it gets dropped and another wingnut with horrible judgment gets away with it.
Another brilliant move Karl. Just brilliant.

The proposition being offered is that KR (0+ / 0-)
began orchestrating this back in March, including persuading Palin to take that flight back to Alaska and then rush to the hospital for induced labor within 24 hours of the speech in Dallas.

Catch-22: If Palin was pregnant and dared to board a plane, that's just as bad as the other thing!

If she wasn't pregnant, but lied about it to cover for her daughter, then she's a liar, without the integrity needed to be President when McBraaaaaains dies.
If she was pregnant, then her reckless disregard for what she herself would unequivocally declare human life makes her completely unfit for the office of President when McBraaaaaains dies.

...let's look at the facts.

1) She was a full month away from her anticipated delivery. Not a week. A full month. Eight months along, not nine. Thus, she'd have no reason to suspect, particularly, she was about to give birth.

Why would a woman in her eighth month of pregnancy fear an air flight?

2) Her water didn't break, although that's how the story's been told later. She had "leakage." She knew something funny was going on -- and so went home to see her OB/GYN. But there was never a fear of imminent delivery.

3) And there was no imminent natural delivery -- her OBGYN induced labor when she got back to Alaska.

This is so fucking stupid my teeth hurt even discussing it. But this whole idea -- that it's frightfully reckless for a pregnant woman to board a plane -- is based on the idea that she was deep in the ninth month and ready to deliver her baby.

But she wasn't. She gave birth one month early, after induced labor. A woman in that position would not suspect she was about to deliver a baby -- because she wasn't scheduled for it, and wasn't feeling labor pains, etc. -- and so wouldn't think much about a six or seven hour plane trip.

I'd be interested in the number of plotters who had passports. How could they even stage a dummy-run with no passports? And what bomb-making materials did they actually have? These seem like legitimate questions to me; the British authorities have produced no evidence so far. If the only evidence they have was from torturing someone in Pakistan, then they have nothing that can stand up in anything like a court.

I wonder if this story is going to get more interesting. I wonder if Lieberman's defeat, the resilience of Hezbollah in Lebanon, and the emergence of a Hezbollah-style government in Iraq had any bearing on the decision by Bush and Blair to pre-empt the British police and order this alleged plot disabled. I wish I didn't find these questions popping into my head. But the alternative is to trust the Bush administration.

I believe I was the first commenter on this site to say that Dems would be going after Governor Sarah Palin with regard to sex (and not just sexism). But I still underestimated them. They went after her daughter and then her husband.

1. Babies don't just fall out. Or rather, when they do (i.e. ya birth in under an hour), that's usually a =good= situation, as the baby is usually breathing well, is a good size, etc. My biggest baby just popped right out after 2 pushes. That was the easiest birth ever. It's when they take forever to get out that you have to worry -- that's why a lot of emergency C-sections happen.

Anyway, it's not like the baby needed immediate surgery upon birth - Trig had an extra chromosome since he was conceived. It's not like one's birth conditions reach back in time to alter one's DNA. That would make for an interesting sci-fi premise, though.

2. I talked with my grandfather last night. He was really stoked about the Palin pick -- and he's older and fogier than McCain. Then we talked about the bullshit going on with various Catholics pretending that abortion is just one of many issues (he was talking about his =parish=priest=. There's a reason Dante had a lot of clergy/heirarchy in Hell.... they ought to know better. They have =no=excuse=. They're not ignorant, they are making a deliberate choice.)

Let's say that the Palin pick is playing extremely well in all sorts of demographics. My grandfather is a literal country club Republican (he lives right next to the 17th green). I'm a literal neocon (I used to be socialist and then liberal). My Ma hasn't said anything, but I bet she was a Hillary supporter, and I can see her voting for McCain now.

This is awesome.

3. I stopped reading Andi years ago, when he was obviously going deranged. He used to be more reasonable and logical, and then in 2004 he went batshit. It's not just that he switched sides - I've done that, too. It's just how shrieky he became. I didn't remember him being such a drama queen when he was on our side, though I admit that it may be due to my own partisan biases.

First off, water breaks or it doesn't. There's no such thing as your water breaking without the baby being delivered. Once those membranes are breached, the baby comes, period.

It RARELY happens as a big gush of water. The baby is head down in the eighth month and the head often acts like a cork, so you feel a slow leak.

Once the membranes are breached, the baby has to be delivered, either by induction or natural labor. Otherwise, infection can set in. The typically accepted window is 24 hours.

INDUCED can mean that there were no contractions and they started them with pitocin, or that there were some and they speeded it up with pitocin. Both scenarios are very common. And you can be in labor and now be aware of the contractions, even though they show up on the belly monitor. It's not at all unusual for a women to go to the hospital technically in labor, and have it speeded up with pitocin. Happens ALL THE TIME.

Lastly, this was her FIFTH pregnancy. I think she had a good idea of what to expect, and a very good grasp on what would be considered "normal" and what might give her pause and cause her to contact her doctor.

Elizabeth, I have to correct you slightly.

I delivered my first child via emergency C-section. I was a week past my due date, with seemgly nothing wrong; but an examination determined that almost all of the amniotic fluid had absorbed into my body. This is a critical situation for the baby. They sent me to the hospital immediately and induced labor, but the baby was lying on the umbilical cord and the contractions were suffocating him. So they had to go in and get him.

So sometimes babies are born without any "water breaking."

People watch too much TV and think they know everything about babies and childbirth. There are a million possible wrinkles to every pregnancy and birth. There is leakage, false labor, all sorts of things that can happen.

In fact, it's pretty clear that the whole Palin baby smear was lifted entirely from a storyline of "Desperate Housewives." Of course, these nutjobs think all Republican women are just like Bree Van de Kamp, so of course it is completely plausible to them. I think this is the way we demolish them - expose them as a bunch of stupid TV-obsessed losers. Of course, their Dear Leader liefted half of his acceptance speech from "The American President" so I guess even taking crap from TV shows is A-OK with them if it hurts the Repugs.

I think it's mostly a CYA recommendation on their part, so if you end up delivering your babe early in an airplane, you don't blame the doc. Or so they don't miss out on their cut ($$) for the delivery.

You can smell the stink of their fear rising out of the op-eds and blog posts.

This doesn't mean that the GOP ticket is bound for a win in November, however. I still think the election is Obama's to lose. The Donks are highly motivated while the GOP is still somewhat fractured, and this election (like the last one) is going to hinge on turnout. I do think that Palin has turned an almost-certain defeat for the GOP into a fighting chance at victory.

In the 8th and 9th month of pregnancy, for her own safety as well as the safety of the fetus, it is imperative that the mother remain in the kitchen.

Also, do you see those unsupportive shoes she is wearing? That kind of footwear changes one's standing posture and can put pressure on the abdominal area potentially crushing the fetus! Who does she think she's getting all tramped up for 8 months pregnant with those fuckme shoes? Most OBGYNs actually reccommend an expectant mother not wear any shoes.
