Damnit, Chris Mathews was Wrong

This bullshit began when oppo researchers quickly dug up a picture of Palin wearing a Buchanan button. From that, Matthews concluded that she was a Pitchfork Pat torch-bearer.

Not so.

The entire case is based on a 1999 AP article, which described her as "sporting a Buchanan button" at a Buchanan visit to the town of which she was mayor.
She promptly responded to the story in a letter to the editor, that "the article may have left your readers with the perception that I am endorsing this candidate, as opposed to welcoming his visit to Wasilla. As mayor, I will welcome all the candidates in Wasilla."

And from that came Chris Matthews' spittle-spraying attack.

Straight from Media Matters or DNC oppo researchers (but I repeat myself) to national telecast, no fact-checking required.

I wonder if Matthews will retract. I sort of doubt it.

And guess what? Despite the fact this has already been debunked, I am 99.99% sure it will play prominently on Meltdown with Keith Mattthews in ten minutes.

He already knows it's been knocked down; he doesn't care. He'll run it, then later claim he didn't know it had been debunked.

Lokoing at pictures of her and laughing at how she has a 'pooch' and her poise proves she had a secret down's syndrome baby that the governor pretended was hers.

They are exaggerating the trooper 'scandal' absurdly.

They are saying she has 'zero' experience, even at the top levels of Obama's campaign.

They are calling Palin "A Nothing" who could never compare with Hillary Clinton... a Senator and ambition-wife.

The tighter the clench their fists, and the dirtier they fight, the more Palin will be seen as a candidate rising above dirty politics.

Obama's claiming to be an agent of change while attacking Palin very harshly. If MSNBC wants to keep it up, making bullshit attacks on Palin, they are only playing into Mccain's hands. See, Palin doesn't have to be the attack dog. She can simply respond to these attacks on her, and then compare it with the truth about her opponents.

The media, the KOS and DUers, etc. all have not turned down their bizarre ranting that they direct at Bush. They don't realize that most people realize Palin cannot possibly deserve that kind of hatred. Instead they have the dial turned to 11 on day one, while the voters still remember Mccain congratulating Obama publically.

This is going to snowball. The best Obama can do is backtrack in a directly contradictory way. This morning they were saying she had zero experience, and a few minutes later it was 'of course we would never denigrate her experience'. It's going to be like that, repeatedly. The media is already a joke for being in the tank, and these flips on Palin will become a laughing stock and a source for anger.

Obama led Mccain by many points among women voters. That simply isn't going to be the case for long.

Regarding the "daughter's baby" meme. Ockham's razor works for this. Baby is Downs' Syndrome. A mother over age 40 is much more likely to have a Downs' Syndrome baby. Palin is over age 40, her daughter is not. The baby is hers.

In 1999, when she wore the Buchanan button, it can easily be explained as being 'hospitable' to a guest in her town. She was, after all, heavily involved in the Steve Forbes campaign.

But I saw the video on Youtube where Buchanan said she supported him in 1996, including attending a fundraiser.(those are never free so she had to have donated money to his campaign). That's going to be more difficult to explain .
