Claim: Carl Cameron Knows Name of VP Pick

Pretty thin slug.

Arguing against this: Carl Cameron says he doesn't know (or implies that, at least, saying he's on the hunt to find out); it seems kinda ridiculous that he wouldn't report it immediately, unless he was promised some huge scoop/exclusive interview for withholding it.

Arguing for this: Well, it's thin, but Megyn Kelly pressed Cameron on whether or not the name would leak "within the hour," which seems oddly specific as to time-setting.

Oh -- and what the hell is this nonsense?

Obama campaign manager David Plouffe — who did not know the content of the ad until we read him the script — just told us that the McCain ad is “a very nice gesture. We wish more of his ads took that tone, but it’s a very nice gesture.”

Wow. The messiah-complexed narcissist Obama wishes that his campaign opponent paid to produce and place more ads praising Barack Obama?

Color me shocked.

Obama's not going to allow you to do anything but worship him.

Seriously. It will not be allowed.

I'm hoping he picks Pawlenty.  This will free Romney to pick up a chair and beat Huck to a bloody pulp.

10 I think a lot of people chuckles at Obama's campaign's idea that Mccain should congratulate Obama more often.

For what?  Being nominated is practically the entire argument that Obama is accomplished and worthy of nomination (Seriously... I hear democrat argue that Obama is smart because he beat Clinton... and that's why he should be the nominee... completely circular).

Oh man, I sure hope Mccain picks someone worth talking about.  This convention has been such a flop.  Had you told me a month ago that Obama would be within the margin of error of Obama as the dem convention closed, I'd have thought you were on angel dust.  We have to appreciate that Mccain is really doing an amazing job right now.  Given the propaganda, the inflation, the perception that Iraq was a mistake and the economy is bad (both wrong as hell, but whatever), and that Obama is this 'historical' nominee that no one can legally criticize, Mccain should be polling where Bush is polling...

I really do believe that if the election were today, Mccain would win a close one.  The Bradley effect alone means things are looking good for us.  But after debates and more and more scrutiny on Obama and BIDEN, there's reason to think it might not be close if enough conservatives volunteer to help get the Mccain vote out.  If we can keep up the 72 hour task force, we have an excellent chance.

This could backfire, though, as the replacement bridge is scheduled to re-open next month.  So, yes, the bridge fell on his watch, but it was also rebuilt and expanded,  ahead of schedule, on his watch. 

Then there's the traffic re-routing, which was fairly successful, given that we lost the largest of maybe 10 routes across the river.  I've even heard rumors that some of the changes to the roads may be permanent, since they've worked so well.

13 The bridge was built wrong.  Period.  It's not exactly the governor's fault if the bridge was built wrong under a different governor.

I think Pawlenty is just too boring.  He is certainly not a bad pick, and I guess he could turn out to be awesome, but identity politics are in play this year, badly.  This is similar to my issue with Romney, though I'd pick Pawlenty way before I pick someone who flipped on abortion (so Romney's pissed off most voters one way or the other).

Really, Romney's advantage for me is that he pisses off Huckabee's idiots.  That would actually probably have a huge bonus at the polls, since the middle of road voters don't want to vote for Mccain if he's too associated with Huckabee types.

27 I'm hoping it's Pawlenty. Living in Minnesota as I do, I think the guy has done an impressive job against tough Democrat opposition, while maintaining broad-based popularity. He is a good speaker, but an even better debater, and can make Biden look like a dunce. Yeah, he's a little squishy on energy stuff, but very strong on taxes and is a big pro-lifer with no baggage or scandal hints.

As much as I wish it was Mitt, I think that Pawlenty will get it for his loyalty and he has potential upside surprise.

He will benefit from these nice low expectations and seems solid on the issues (Green crap aside).

A less polarizing version of Romney and a safe pick if you believe the Messiah will kill his own chances the next 90 days.
