McCain's new ad.

Well, maybe not a threat to Caesar Obama.

1 Absolutely devastating for O'Bambi and Senator Bidet!

2 yep... these ads really put the Obama campaign's angry rhetoric into the desperation category.

Obama has said too many dumb things.... He has no record to shield his mistakes with.  When you call him unprepared over and over again, eventually he has to reply with 'but I failed at the Annenburg Challenge!' or 'I vote present like a mofo!' or he has to grant that he is not prepared.

Saying 'my judgment is better than your experience' is something most folks cannot take on faith.  Those supporting him are pissed off at Bush (and that is a great way to get votes if you had a little more substance).  Obama's slide ain't going to end with Obama gives him sweet speech that I think he can't possibly be eager to give.  All the pressure for turning this sinking ship around is on his tiny shoulders.  I'm sure they have focus grouped ever line, and are angrily fighting as we speak over parts of the speech.  In their hearts, they realize they will have to answer to Hillary Clinton and their party for blowing the entire election when they lose to Mccain.

The only aspect of the GWOT people are sick of is being resolved (thank goodness).  And the American people, while constantly pissing me off, is showing a lot of intelligence this week and last.  I don't think Obama can turn things around the way Mccain did.

I expect to hear lots of 7 houses jokes, though.  I think it's clear that Obama loses a few voters each time it's brought up.  We need to get a 'he's got 8 houses now!' sticker when Mccain moves into the White House.

Hah! Good shot from McCain. It's time to go all negative, all the time. Obama's doing it, so is McCain. Now the campaign is interesting.

And, frankly, negative campaigns are what works. Always have been, always will be.

I can remember having similar thoughts about Germany once, as a child, while staring at a map of Europe.  Germany was tinted pink.  My exact thoughts were, "How could that little strip of land hurt anyone?"

It is a natural enough question to ask when you are ten. I am a bit older now. And I think a man of 47 running for President of the United States really ought to know better...

5  Johnny Mac is kicking the utter crap out of the Obamessiah!   And whoever is running McCain's media strategy is a frigging genius.

Of course, Barry O is a target rich environment, but still, when was the last time you saw a Republican candidate take it so forcefully to a Democrat.  Almost everything out of the McCain camp has been right on target and devastating, and the ads are appearing so fast now that Obama can't even respond.

Inside the OODA loop big time.

6 at some point it's not going negative... like when you really are running against an empty suit who spent his entire career working with terrorists or Rezko.

I mean, Mccain can't really honestly discuss Obama without saying things about him that are absolutely devastating.  Obama is just a terrible candidate.  If Bush were more popular, the dems would have picked someone less symbolic and liberal, and things would be a lot tougher for us.

How would Mccain attack Hillary?  A lot of republicans hate her, but that's not enough.  He can't say she's an empty suit, because she isn't.  It would be strictly a policy discussion, boring, and I think we'd have no chance in the percieved bad economy.

7 Hillary is the shill, or at least a signifier for Bull Clinton.

No doubt we'll end up blaming it on the Nazis, Church, and Jews.

The usual suspects.

I'm glad the woman got ditched by the Party.

8 I wonder how big a percentage Bush would have beaten Kerry by in 2004 if he had McCain's media team putting out ads like:

"John Kerry: Clueless liberal or arrogant elitist?"

"John Kerry has been disowned by the very men he served with in Vietnam."

"John Kerry: 30 years ago, he tried to pass himself off as an anti-war radical. Now he's trying to pass himself off as a defender of America. So was he lying then, or lying now?"

"Is John Kerry a douche or a turd sandwich?"

I'm tellling you, if Bush hadn't insisted on playing by the Marquis of Queensbury rules, he could have won by 20 points.

9 It just occured to me that maybe McCain hired Ann Coulter as a media consultant.

You seem to misunderstand what "going negative" means. It's not that the alternative is to say nice things about your opponent. It would be touting your own virtues and not talking about your opponent.

In my view, neither campaign is offering much, apart from not being someone else. Obama isn't Bush (and claims that McCain is). McCain isn't Obama. Who do you want to vote against?

14 DOOD!!!

OK, I'm still not a true McVain fan, but I do love the steak tartar ads aimed at The Obamessiah's inconveniently on-the-record remarks.
