Obama/Biden '08: The Baracky and Bullstinkle Show!

Last night, while awaiting the sacred text message to descend from on high, I started thinking again about an Obama/Biden ticket.

Because, you see, I knew that I had seen it somewhere before. A small inner voice was filling my head with childhood recollections that had been submerged in the depths of my subconscious mind 'lo these many years.

And then, in a flash, it washed over me like so much of the Obamessiah's new and improved (extra hopenchanginess included!) baptismal water.

First, Obama. In him we have a nerdy, Urkel-esque character who is young, inexperienced, somewhat naive. His grasp of history appears weak (as his comments tying American actions to Russian military intervention revealed yet again this week). Clearly he needs a mentor.

In Biden, we have an insufferable, self-professed "higher i.q. than you" guy, with a penchant for falling in love with the sound of his own voice and for demeaning those who seek to share the limelight with him.

To paraphrase Men at Work, "who could this ticket be, now"?

It's obvious. Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you the Democratic Ticket.

Obama: Where should I set the WABAC machine for this week, Mr. Peabiden?

Mr. Peabiden: 1972, my clean, articulate friend.

1 Awwww...that's awfully insulting to Sherman.  I like Sherman.

2 Obama's biggest problem with picking a running mate is that he can't choose himself. Thats what the cult of personality gets you!

4 "Bullstinkle." My side hurts. I like to refer to him as "Mr. Stinky Dirty Shorts."

5 Heh, AliceH....

Are you as pumped as me for the first time Bullstinkle asks:

"Hey Baracky...you wanna see me me pull a gaffe outta my hat?"

Mr Peabody would introduce himself and then say "and this is my boy, Sherman."

Isn't "boy" a derogatory term for black men? Racist, you.

8 I still can't believe he really picked Biden. Biden, for chrissakes! What a gift!

Hopefully our mavericky nominee is keeping Shepard's Prayer* in mind as he finalizes his veep pick. It's looking more and more like this thing is his to lose.

* Alan Shepard, sitting on the launch pad about to become the first American in space: "Please, dear God, don't let me fuck up."

9 Ira, I actually thought about that.

And then I remembered Mr. Peabiden's nuanced thoughts about Americans of Indian Descent and 7-11's.

Somehow, it still seemed to work.

10 But that trick never works!

I was trying to explain Rocky and Bullwinkle to my six-year-old a few weeks ago.  (Yes, he turned six!  Isn't that adorable?!)  I got completely lost on how to explain Boris and Natasha to him, in terms simple enough for a child with no knowledge of the Cold War.

18 I've been thinking -

As awesome as this is, what are the chances Biden actually lasts until election day?

Could Obama replace him? Because I have a keen hunch he'll want to at some point...

19 Coments following the WaPo Poll or the WaPoPo:

Here at Protestants for Peace, we feel very let down. We had been hoping for a more ecumenical choice, especially our favorite, Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA).

Rev. E. Raleigh they did call Barney Frank but he was bent over in front of another man so he didn’t pick up the phone.

24 Hey, these two are perfect cast as cartoon animation, just like acetate cels. Thin, brittle, and transparent except for a layer of vinyl paint. Just give Sherman a few years to age and the color will... darken a bit. Before flaking off.

25 I'm starting to wonder if the whole "Barry screwed up the announcement" came about because he couldn't get anyone to take the veep slot.  That would explain the different reports during the night about who he would select.  By the time he got to Biden, it was the middle of the night, hence the late messages.

Posted by: Steve L. at August 23, 2008 11:48 AM (T6hME)

26 Why are you dissing me, Stinky? I would be way better than Biden.

Posted by: fredras at August 23, 2008 11:52 AM (ZHsEK)

27 Over at Hot Air, Ed Morrissey thinks that possibly Barry's real problem was precisely that he couldn't get whomever he really wanted to take the job.

Java Joe:

That's just brilliant.  Can you see "The Obiden Adventure 2008" printed on a line of T-shirts, below a drawing of a capsized ship, with the words USA on the side of the ship?  I can.

Oh, and can we please see 1,000,000,000,000 references in the MSM over the next week to how Biden lends desperately needed "Gravitas" to Obama?  What, we won't see that, like we did with Bush's selection of Cheney?  If thae press doesn't report it like that, that would be for only one reason, since we all know that the press isn't biased.  It would be only because Biden is such an empty-headed fool that even the most partisan hack of a reporter or editor knows that saying Biden provides gravitas would be laughed at by every voter in America.

Just another example of what a complete moron Barack "Where's My Teleprompter?  I Need to Order at the McDonald's Drive-Through?" O'Messiah-Bama really is.  What kind of "judgment" does this selection really show?  None.

Not that I'm complaining. Fucking awesome!

Posted by: Sharkman at August 23, 2008 12:19 PM (UioS4)

29 Word out of the Obama campaign is that they selected Biden after learning he was a fellow lightworker. Of course, in Biden's approach, light work has always been cutting class and nearly failing out of school, copying others work without attribution and continuously coming unprepared to committee meetings and hearings, resulting in the need to ramble endlessly on unrelated word salads, racial slurs and other oddities in an attempt to appear involved.

In a sense, Biden's nearly forty years of light work have been a testament to the liberal ethic: bloated, ineffective government parasites sucking off of hard working Americans so that the lightworkers can contemplate grand socialist thoughts and live in exceptional extravagance.

32 It's at times like these when I appreciate this moronblog to show me the errors of my own moron analysis. I was up when the 3 AM message came in that the Bar man and Clueless Joe were tying the knot. So. I'm thinking How pathetic is this?? Beige and Gray. These guys are hardly Rocky and Bullwinkle. Or even Boris and Natasha. But I was wrong. Wrong wrong wrong. The great minds here at AOSHQ were grappling with this very problem and arriving at the solution.
