McCain Camp Plays Ayers Card; Demands University of Illinois Stop Hiding Obama/Ayers Records

Questioning Obama's terrorist associations, which is akin to questioning his patriotism, which is therefore bad. Or something.

The question now is, will Barack Obama immediately call on the University of Illinois to release all of the records they are currently withholding to shed further light on Senator Obama’s relationship with this unrepentant terrorist?

—McCain spokesman Brian Rogers

I was happy when dKos and their "conservative" partner Andrew Sullivan claimed McCain lied about his Vietnam captivity. McCain often seems to believe his own crap about civility and such in politics.

But when an opponent pisses him off, he goes for the jugular, in a "dirty" way. I don't think it's dirty. But he would normally call this sort of thing dirty himself. It becomes not-dirty when his opponents, or their supporters, do dirty stuff themselves.

So thanks, Andrew Sullivan! You successfully made Bill Ayers, Bernie Dohrn, and Obama's long and fast friendship with them an issue.

2 Oh, man. I bet those records will be a treasure trove of Marxist pap. If they ever see the light of day, of course.

I just got a tingle.

3 I concur, McCain may be like the Hulk.  Don't make him mad.  You wouldn't like him when he's mad.  Imagine George W., but with the actual desire to hit back instead of meekly turning the other cheek all the time.

I imagine this means he could go from dem loving maverick to Dem slayer.

Very nice.

Obviously though, McCain is a racist and this is all just a distraction from the fact that McCain started a war in Georgia.

At the rate this is going, lately, they're gonna have to dig up a lot more dead folks to vote Obama.

I don't think there's enough corpses with voter registrations to make up for the skeletons in his closet.

Of course, we're only talking about $45M (!)in taxpayer dollars allocated and directed by Ayers and his foundation head, Obama. Why in the world would records concerning public funds spent on advacing "education" ever be sealed?

And the lamesteam media just keeps snoring on this issue, and the whole Ayers connection....nice piece in the WSJ today on how Obama won his first race in Chicago by legally challenging the nominating petitions of all 4 of his opponents (including the incumbent), thereby leaving himself the only candidate.....typical Chicago pol, I mean that in the very worst, big-city, patronage-and-corruption sense....hearing rumors that a very damaging Michelle video is about to surface.....nice timing as it will occur before a floor vote at the Demo convention on the PIAPS's nomination.....hhhmmmmmm

He has some sort of high-minded Marquess of Queeensbury rules about politics in his head, and he's going to have to get over this if he wants to win.

The records will not see the light of day.

That stuff is gone, baby- gone.

Maet, McCain is a Republican from Arizona and hasn't had a challenge to his position since the 1980s. McCain took awhile to realise he wasn't running just in AZ this time. But his "The One" ad showed that he'd taken the measure of O's supporters. I'm not worried about McCain beating O, O's done.

I expect there are brown undies all around the DNC this week.

The sweet part about the attempt to cover up is now you can just say what ever might have been there is gone.
I'm pretty sure I saw Obama's real birth certificate and the Whitey tape there the other day. I was going to take them but Fred Baron said he would be my friend if I didn't so.....I left them. I won't have time now that I'm moving into a new house.

Universities that allow radicals... I believe they are called "professors," or something like that. They constitute about 99.99% of the higher ed profession...

Even if the records still exist (which I doubt; THAT'S the Chicago Way), and even if they come out into the public view, and even if they include 8x10 color glossies of Obama orally copulating with Ayers' erect sex organ, the MSM will provide cover.

By NOT reporting it.

I think it is honor.  Sen. McCain is an old 'soldier' will treat an actual opponent honorably.  When that opponent acts dishonorably, then all bets are off.

What's that saying? 'Age and guile beats youth and enthusiasm'?  Add to that the cold-blood needed to do a trap on an Essex-class carrier with a jet.

23 I can't imagine anyone discovering that Obama has had a long fruitful relationship with Ayers and Dorne....

They have had one and everyone knows it. Those who object to it already won't vote for Obama, those who don't object are either prepared to deny it whatever evidence there is or are supportive of Ayers and his ilk.

Next he should demand an accounting of his work for Rezko, being how he's a felon.  Who just so happened to be a beneficiary of Obama's efforts and all.

Obama won't do it, and it would be somewhat of a dirty trick since lawyers can't really be expected to divulge information on their clients, but it still makes Obama look like he's hiding something.

30 This airbrushing of Obama's past is starting to look more like Bondo.

Posted by: Purple Avenger at August 20, 2008 08:26 PM (6L459)

31 This can't backfire, since the point is really to inform the masses who have no clue about Ayers and Obama's long term relationship with him.  Obama lied about this relationship, saying it was just them living in the same neighborhood instead of all the connections we now are aware of.  Annenberg pronounced the $ 45 million program Obama ran a "FAILURE", so it's even proof he sucks on education issues.

This is well described as a reaction to the attacks on Mccain lately.  Clinton perfected that technique, and it's a good one.

If America knows about Ayers, and how Obama pathetically excused it "he bombed Americans decades ago... what's the big deal?", then Obama won't win.  this could be the 1984 election.

Posted by: ghy at August 20, 2008 08:26 PM (8jYMc)

I think it is now crystal clear.

Mcain "does" know who he's dealing with and he knows who's dealing with who he's dealing with.

That make sense?

www.globallabor.blogspot.com

PUMA attack:

If the Ayers/Dohrn-Obama meet and greet took place in November, 1995, it cannot have been the first time that Obama met Ayers.  By that time Obama was already Chairman of the Board of the $50 million Chicago Annenberg Challenge Grant program that was designed by Ayers. Ayers began the grant proposal design process in December 1993 and the grant was formally announced in January, 1995.  Barack Obama was identified as the Chair in press reports in June of 1995.
So, unless Ayers helped pick a board chair he had never met and would never meet until the "meet and greet," Obama, in fact, met Ayers well before the launching of his state senate campaign.  Of course, it is very likely that there would have had to have been a very close working relationship between Ayers, as the lead architect of the Annenberg proposal, and the first board chairman.  They would have had to have agreed on basic educational policy issues. And Obama would have been crucial in leading fund raising efforts since the $50 million grant was conditioned on a 2-1 match from other donors (and something they were quite successful at - raising an additional $60 million by 1999).
As I have written here before, my hypothesis is that Ayers and Obama had an older relationship and a deeper political affinity than has been made clear until now. The attempts by so many around Obama, and by Obama himself, to portray this as an arms length relationship simply do not fit the facts that are available.
For example, the Annenberg Challenge grant money was aimed at solidifying the school reforms put in place in Chicago in 1988 when a campaign for "local control" emerged in the wake of a teachers' strike that galvanized business and community opposition to the power of teachers' union and the Chicago school bureaucracy.
Both Obama and Ayers were active in that reform post-strike campaign. Ayers helped organize a major force in the lobbying for that 1988 campaign, the Alliance For Better Chicago Schools, or ABCs.  The Developing Communities Project which Obama headed at that time was a member of the ABCs, apparently one of the few members of the ABCs that worked with the black community. Many in the black community knew that teaching, the unions and school administration were one avenue to the middle class for blacks and thus were wary of the reform effort.
Certainly support for "local control" would have been a pre-requisite to allowing Obama to chair, at such a young and untested age, the Annenberg Challenge. Thus, I think we can safely date the beginning of the Obama-Ayers relationship to at least 1988 when the ABCs effort was underway in Chicago schools. That was also when Ayers and Obama would have met up with the future Executive Director of the Annenberg Challenge, who would have been hired by Ayers and Obama, Ken Rolling.  Rolling in 1988 was on the staff of the Woods Fund which provided several grants to the school reform effort and to Obama's Developing Communities Project at that time.  Of course, a decade later, in 1999, as is already widely known, Ayers would join Obama on the board of the Woods Fund itself.

The guy Obama is like a fucking Stepford Wife programmed to seek higher office and destroy from within.  Seriously, if the left pulls this off and grabs majorities in both chambers this country is so, so deeply screwed.
