Obama: Yes, I Voted Against the Born-Alive Provision, But I Only Voted Against It Because It Was One of Those Very Rare Pieces of Legislation That Actually Has Some Legal Effect, or Something

Captain Bullshit!

Read his new "fact check:" He's claiming he supported the federal law (in theory; he didn't have to vote on it) because federal law does not actually have any effect on state abortion law, and opposed the identical state version, because state laws can affect, um, state laws.

So he's a big supporter of the Born Alive Act... so long as it's actually ineffectual and carries no operative power.

Or... something.

So, John McCain should likewise announce his fervent support for a single-payer national healthcare law, so long as that law is passed by, say, the City Council of Oswego, New York, and would therefore have no actual legal weight.

And he, like Obama, should "get credit" for supporting a legislative nullity, while opposing, you know, the real law and stuff.

Obama really does seem to prefer the sort of "lawmaking" which is entirely conducted on the plane of airy generalities, nebulous themes, and empty gestures, doesn't he? When asked to vote on a bona fide law (a law-type law, with actual legal effect, as opposed to the "thinky" sort of thought-experiment virtual "law" Obama prefers) he either courageously votes present or cries that it was unfair to ask him to vote on a law that actually might change the law.

Nuance. Layers. Leadership.

6 Most of the major cities nationally are cesspools politically and Chicago is overflowing. This whole series of votes was just payback, I'm sure personally Obama could care less. Chicago will drag him down, it is really just getting started. We haven't even had the conventions yet, the nasty stuff is just starting to float to the top. He has no hope and that isn't going to change.

But seriously...  Who the hell votes to kill babies born alive?

No.  Seriously, because I'm not getting it.  Who the hell votes to kill babies born alive?

That's some pretty sick shit, dude.

Posted by: The Chewbacca Defense at August 19, 2008 11:33 PM (kKO7A)

8 The Federal/State thing is just a dodge. The Illinois Atty. Gen. ruled that Christ Hospital did nothing wrong when it threw survivor babies into the broom closet to die. So the law was necessary in Illinois. (And if that's a "Christ" hospital, what does an anti-Christ hospital do?)

The Dead Baby Industry has always believed that an aborting woman is entitled to a corpse. Because they knew that it would cost them elections, even they were afraid to advocate it in public. But not Dr. O.

That makes him the most Pro-Abortion politician in America.

And just talking about "the least of these" at Rick Warren's church just makes it worse; you're for the little guy? Well, they don't come any littler.

Remember when Obama warned against the danger of doing evil in the name of good? How apt.

Posted by: Noel at August 19, 2008 11:38 PM (4gHqM)

9 Thank you, Chewy. I have been wondering about that also. Who the hell is for killing babies who survive an abortion?

WHO?

Isn't it pathetic we need legislation on something like this? BAD

Posted by: mare at August 19, 2008 11:41 PM (xMkst)

10 I'd call Obama a cocksucker, but, truthfully, that isn't a moral failing in my book. Even if it were, it's dramatically less so than supporting the killing of babies... even babies outside of a woman's vagina and breathing air.

12 But did he say why he lied about this if it's so ineffectual ultimately?

Posted by: topsecretk9 at August 20, 2008 12:24 AM (LRJ8a)

13 I'm not rabidly anti-abortion, nor overtly religious, but there is undoubtedly a very special place in hell for people who kill the ones who miraculously survive an abortion.  That shit just ain't right.

I do not understand how stupid so many people choose to be and to remain in order to support Obama and the entire democrat mental bureaucracy.

A significant and productive square peg simply will not fit through his lousy "O" to end all production, and the peg will not abide being cut down to size and forced through the Obama drain, and will not be made malleable in order to conform amiably into his damned hole.

28 I think that everybody is missing the true benefit of Obama's plan.  This law makes abortion less common - because now parents can just use infanticide instead.  He should be running ads in evangelical circles "I passed a law encouraging parents to choose birth instead of abortion".

Senator, if one of your daughters were to become pregnant and decide to get an abortion, but the procedure was botched and your grandbaby born alive, would you insist the doctors off the offspring of your offspring rather than having your daughter punished with a baby?

Last night Bob Beckel went into attack mode on Hannity and Colmes. "The Republican's are trying to smear Obama by saying he wants to kill babies. Shame on you."

Dude, he supports Roe v Wade. Do you think that they spontaneously become babies in the magical mystery of the birth canal? No. You assholes have been killing babies all along. It's not like they were going to grow up to be puppies. If they were, PETA would be on our side.

Add to that, the left is full of people that call the troops "baby killers" and yet they actually celebrate killing babies. Seriously, you people don't seem to get it. No one buys that Obama is even remotely pro-life. Why all the hissy fit?

Look, your Messiah is a baby killer, deal with it. He has. Infact, he's voted that way more than once.

Apparently he was against this because bringing in a second doctor for emergency care of a aborted baby born alive is simply designed to "burden the original decision" of the mother who wished to abort.
