Ha, Ha, Ha: Obama's Campaign and the Media (But I Repeat Myself) Claims McCain Cheated

They're claiming John McCain was so well-prepared and forceful in his answers that he must have heard Warren's questions for Obama first, thus giving him a head's up and time to prepare.

While that's not altogether ridiculous, it does seem ridiculous to postulate that John McCain needed to "cheat" to know a question about Osama bin Ladin might be asked:

(Videotape)

SEN. JOHN McCAIN (R-AZ): Defeat it. Couple of points. One, if I'm president of the United States, my friends, if I have to follow him to the gates of hell, I will get Osama bin Laden and bring him to justice. I will do that and I know how to do it. I will get that done.

(End videotape)

MR. GREGORY: Andrea Mitchell, that's a pretty clear contrast.

MS. ANDREA MITCHELL: Oh, absolutely. And, you know, there was the crisp, immediate, forceful response by John McCain, clearly in a comfort zone because he was with his base. And Barack Obama, taking a risk in going there but seeing an opportunity. And a much more nuanced approach. The Obama people must feel that he didn't do quite as well as they might have wanted to in that context, because that -- what they're putting out privately is that McCain may not have been in the cone of silence and may have had some ability to overhear what the questions were to Obama.

MR. GREGORY: Right.

MS. MITCHELL: He seemed so well prepared.

Andrea Mitchell again, note. Andrea Mitchell is claiming that the fact that Mr. Military John McCain had a forceful answer about getting Osama bin Ladin is evidence he must have "cheated" and gotten advance notice that such an obscure, out-of-left-field question would be asked.

And Andrea Mitchell isn't merely repeating the Obama camp's whining, which in itself would be unobjectionable; she's endorsing this "interesting theory," and attempting to show it as something other than ludicrous, by emphasizing McCain "seemed so well-prepared."

For a question about Osama bin Ladin. Did I mention that?

And how about this for additional evidence of skullduggery?

Barack Obama Fails to Shine Alongside John McCain

...

As a regular church-goer comfortable talking about his faith, Mr Obama is ostensibly better placed than most recent Democratic candidates to win over evangelicals.

But his support of abortion, a non-negotiable issue for many conservative Christians, remains a considerable obstacle, and he drew disapproving noises from the 2,800 audience at Saddleback in Lake Forest, California when he gave an evasive response to the question of when human rights begin for a baby.

"Whether you are looking at it from a theological perspective or a scientific perspective, answering that question with specificity, you know, is above my pay grade," said Mr Obama.

Mr McCain, who has always been against abortion, in contrast gave a swift response: "At the moment of conception", drawing a loud round of applause.

I can't wait to hear Andrea Mitchell suggest that McCain obviously must have been listening in to Obama's interview -- after all, how would he have possibly known a question about abortion and the moment of conception would come up at an evangelical leader's faith-based joint appearance?

You know who really has to worry about Obama stealing their precious supply of White Women? Andrea Mitchell's husband, Alan Greenspan.

For my money, I'm actually pleased John McCain answered these questions so crisply, forcefully, and, um, well-prepardishly. I don't think he was eavesdropping, so this leaves only one other possibility -- He must be a psychic.

And you want your Commander in Chief to be a Scanner.*

Via Hot Air.

Was Obama Cheating? To hear CNN's spinmeisters tell the tale, Obama had a hell of a night. His evasive, rambling, insensible answers were "thoughtful" in their expert estimation.

So -- it seems, per CNN, Obama must have been cheating to consistently offer up such "thoughtful" meanderings and nonsensities. How else could Captain Bullshit have been so "well-prepared" with such rhetorical Cool-Whip?

I wonder if we'll hear Andrea Mitchell suggesting that possibility.

* They're remaking Scanners for a 2009 release -- too late to help McCain, by advertising his amazing mindpowers.

I question the timing.

19 The thing I really get a kick out of on this is I didn't think (at least originally) that Obama did that badly, just that McCain did much better.  In fact (given what I was expecting), when his hour was up and McCain hadn't started yet, I actually thought he had turned in a good performance and was worried -- but the left is absolutely devastated.

In the course of the day, I've seen comments like this:

Pappy McSame knows nothing but war. Totally 1984.
He will take the youth of our nation and send them to die in a new cold war which only exists in paranoid neocon minds.

25 The funny and scary thing is is that this is just practice for the real debates when Captain Uhm will be trounced on a national stage.  Get ready for charges that McCain cheated, was racist, drugged Obama, etc.

It's amazing, it's not like they asked these guys anything other than core beliefs and key background issues.  It's not like they asked McCain to discuss page 232 of his campaign finance law and how it applies to Kentucky voter with an income of $23000 to $23343.  Or Obama on how many minutes/hours/days his bills to kill born babies would allow.

But that's cool.  I would hope that for the many Americans that don't follow this stuff closely, the bullshit meter is still capable of going off as they watch the press desperately spin for the Ear King.

Barack Obama has shown no ability to think quickly in a debate format.

If McCain does his homework he can win this but he will have to pose the tough questions himself, since the Obama debate cheer squad (MSM) will be there to prop him up.

Posted by: jjshaka at August 17, 2008 05:21 PM (UJPJ9)

27 Yes, who knew they would ask such off the wall questions on subjects like the WoT, abortion, etc.?

I also heard a commentator on NPR complain that because McCain's answers were so short, as opposed to Obama's more well thought out ones, McCain was asked additional questions.  Jeesh. Obama always has problems with questions that should be no brainers, eg., Senator, do you love this country?  Hint: It's a yes or no question.

Posted by: grc at August 17, 2008 05:24 PM (Rfu4W)

28 Why, oh why do even conservative writers still insist on calling St. Barry O'Guiltwhite "brilliant" and "highly intelligent?" Can anyone think of a worse, more mealy-mouthed and obtuse answer to the question of conception than "it's above my pay grade?" Hey, Barry, little man, I could have given you a perfect liberal answer that would have raised no eyebrows. "Frankly Warren, as President I do not think it is my place to render an opinion on that, since it is a moral question upon which many disagree. However, as a Constitutional scholar I support Roe vs. Wade, and I do believe the government has a say in the legality of abortion."

Now, that would make him still full of ripe shit, but sweet Christ on a jet pack, this assclown said, in essence, he's too stupid to answer the question.

As much as I dislike having McCain as the standard-bearer for conservatism (as if there is one this time around), I was darned impressed with his performance at this interview (I won't qualify it as a debate).  He was crisp, concise, and sharply-on-topic.

I especially liked the way that, when he had answered a question adequately with a short-response -- he simply shut-up and stopped-talking.  Almost Fred-Thompson-esque (I said "ALMOST").

Obama, on the other hand, was an incoherent, bloviatory retard.  PRICELESS!

40 The things Barry O'Guiltwhite has said have become so absurd, so thoughtless and stupid, so nearly mythical in their blockheadedness, I think Barry really, truly is living out the life of Chauncey Gardner. He actually is a dope who stumbled into and out of Harvard, magna cum laude, in and out of the Illinois State Senate, into the US Senate, into sweet land deals, into preening solipsistic celebrity as an author, into the machine church of a racist... all because of nothing he did, but because he really is an empty vessel drawing forth the projections of his surroundings. Obastard himself said he is a blank screen for others.

It's 99% about two inextricably linked things: White Guilt and Liberalism.

41 Andrea Mitchell must have gotten some pretty harsh punishment from Obama's spirit squad after her infamous "fake interviews" criticism of  O's world tour. She's learned her lesson. Don't let the truth slip out if you still want to sit with the cool kids in the cafeteria.

Posted by: nightwitch at August 17, 2008 06:05 PM (dfTf5)

42 Answering #28, I would say that if we reject the Catholic definition of Birth for the official USG interpretation called Roe v Wade as we kinda actually did, it means not only that the USG has the right and power to say "out of luck, Honey" to a woman who dawdled two full trimesters, but also that when a child (if we are to use that term for a third-trimester foetus) is physically born into the physical universe it is by definition a Person under the Law, and moreover that the USG has a strong interest in ensuring that that child gets to be a baby.

That's really truly why the RCC hates Roe v Wade.

To me it's a brilliant clarification of the matters truly at play in the dispute that is set by government, not by belief-based assertions pretending to be facts.
