11 From a technical point, I'm most interested in the "cross-range" aspect of the shot. Instead of a head on collision, this was a high deflection shot. MUCH more difficult to achieve. The ability to do this means you can protect a much larger area per launcher. Pretty interesting that they were able to do this with the SM-2.

The real workhorse as far as hunting-seeking goes is the Aegis ship's SPY-1 radar --- it guides the missiles all the way in for the kill.
