11 From a technical point, I'm most interested in the "cross-range" aspect of the shot. Instead of a head on collision, this was a high deflection shot. MUCH more difficult to achieve. The ability to do this means you can protect a much larger area per launcher. Pretty interesting that they were able to do this with the SM-2.

Yeah I hope he explains that better. I imagine he means that basic missiles were retrofitted with hunter/killer sensors.

The one thing I learned this primary season is how just how far the phrase "shameless panderer" doesn't even begin to describe Barack Obama. 22 SM-2 Block IV's: recently modified to handle ABM duty. About 100 in naval inventories right now. The real workhorse as far as hunting-seeking goes is the Aegis ship's SPY-1 radar --- it guides the missiles all the way in for the kill. That's why it's such a short-range, endo-atmosphere solution (like Patriot).
