Inadequate Black Man Alert
Wednesday Before AIPAC: "Jerusalem Must Remain Undivided"
Thursday After Criticsm from Palestinians: Um, Well, Gee, Maybe Not, We'll Have to Negotiate That

Quick, let's send this guy to Teheran post-haste.

And why did he cave? Because of criticism from our bosom friends the Palestinians.

Many on the right of the political spectrum among America's Jews welcomed Obama's remarks at AIPAC, but the clarification of his position left several cold.

"The Orthodox Union is extremely disappointed in this revision of Senator Obama's important statement about Jerusalem," said Nathan Diament, director of public policy for the Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations. He had sent out a release Wednesday applauding Obama's Jerusalem remarks in front of AIPAC.

"In the current context, everyone understands that saying 'Jerusalem... must remain undivided' means that the holy city must remain unified under Israeli rule, as it has been since 1967," Diament explained.

"If Senator Obama intended his remarks at AIPAC to be understood in this way, he said nothing that would reasonably lead to such a different interpretation."

Morton Klein, president of the Zionist Organization of America and another Jewish activist who had originally lauded Obama's statement, now called the candidate's words "troubling."

"It means he used the term inappropriately, possibly to mislead strong supporters of Israel that he supports something he doesn't really believe," Klein charged.

Gee, I just can't accept such a tendentious interpretation as possibly being true. This is the Risen Christ of Chicago we're talking about here after all.

Does this weakling moron think in advance about a single non-platitudinous burbling that comes out of his mouth?

I can't wait to see what promises he makes under pressure or to please his immediate audience and thereby binds the US.

Or, who knows, given his gassy stupidity, maybe none of his promises mean anything.

Either way, I don't see the point of sending this imbecile nancyboy to negotiate with the fucking Girl Scouts nevermind determined terrorists.

I can see that the Dems already miss the steady hand of Lt. John Kerry at the helm of their windsurfer.

3 I saw that live yesterday and though, wow, that's a hell of a pander. I mean Olmert has floated ideas that would divide or share Jerusalem and here was Obama out doing the sitting Israeli PM. I figured he was in deep trouble with Jewish voters so go for it, right?

I love his, “Well, obviously, it’s going to be up to the parties to negotiate a range of these issues. And Jerusalem will be part of those negotiations...”

Why is it 'obvious' asshole when you just said it wouldn't be part of any negotiations?

Just words...dumb, inexperienced words.

"Rookie mistakes"?  Rookies are people who are have earned a spot on the team, know how to play, what the rules are, but are inexperienced at playing in the big leagues.

Obama is not a rookie.  Obama is more like a crazy vagrant who has managed to sneak past security into a hospital operating room, and now demands to be handed the scalpel.

Get. The. Fucking. Hook.

ps. Racial harmony?  Ummm, well okay, I don't think Obama and his loving "church" have set it back more than say, about 40 years or so?!  Such a nice reward the Dems have arranged for the folks whose votes they have owned for those 40 years!

A valid point. I stand corrected!

It was clear from his speech at the 2004 convention that he was being groomed for the Presidency, but at the time I would have bet good money that he'd take some time to gain experience, maybe try for a Governorship, and generally do all the things befitting a man who would be President. It ought to be pointed out though he was smart enough to have an adviser state this - not spout it off directly.  If you want to really nail him on it, somebody needs to follow this up.

Back on point, that is the really weird thing about Obama. If he does a full term in the senate and gets easily reelected he could have walked into the white house in 2016 and he would only be 54. Instead he is Ned Lamont writ large, a totally naive, one trick pony creature of the Koskids. He already has the nomination but he's still running left, changing his position to the left every time someone points out he is actually being realistic for once. 5 more months of this and he will spend October campaigning in Mass and Minn to insure he does better than Mondale or McGovern.

But since talking about it would be a "distraction", it's to be written Y*h*w*h or, better still, JHWH, the Ineffable Name.

(Sadly, "effable" is how most of America's gay community regards him.)

Meanwhile, tonight Barack's visiting in DC with Hillary, who is providing entertainment in the form of grainy black-and-white films of Michelle  him  with a donkey in Tijuana.

Posted by: pendejo grande at June 06, 2008 01:00 AM (l/U9W)

50 In the interview with the Jerusalem Post today one of the stupid things Obama's campaign "adviser" said to clarify Bambi's position was:

“Two principles should apply to any outcome,” which the adviser gave as: “Jerusalem remains Israel’s capital and it’s not going to be divided by barbed wire and checkpoints as it was in 1948-1967.”

Who is proposing Israel separate Jerusalem with barbed wire? Maybe someone has, but I missed it. And, of course, this statement leaves open the door for dividing it with concrete barriers, a no man's zone loaded with mines, or a modern day electronic fence instead of barbed wire. Bambi, always leave them scratching their heads so there is wiggle room to "re-re-re-re-clarify" his stance on an issue.

FDR was repeatedly asked to bomb the rail lines going into Auschwitz to impede the flow of the (soon to be) victim's trains.  We were in the vicinity anyway, frequently working over the AG Farbin plant just down the road, and designating those rail lines as a secondary target would have been an easy call.

66 63-64:  It should be remembered that WWII bombing, even daylight "precision" bombing, meant basically "plaster the neighborhood with explosives and hope some of it gets to the target."  FDR and the Army Air Force might have worried about doing more harm than good -- especially since it wasn't until the camps were liberated that they really understood the massive, deliberate extermination project going on.  Until one is confronted with evil on that scale, it's literally unbelievable.

68 especially since it wasn't until the camps were liberated that they really understood the massive, deliberate extermination project going on.

The purpose of the camps was well understood by 1943 and the IG Farbin plant had been rendered effectively inoperative by continuous worker sabotage.  No bombing of that plant was needed at all.

Posted by: Purple Avenger at June 06, 2008 10:02 AM (c55NW)

69 The dark reality is that Hitler was rapidly reducing a massive post-war refugee problem for the Allies.  FDR and Hull were obviously OK with that since they did nothing at all about it and refused numerous entreaties by humanitarian organization to do something about it.

Posted by: Purple Avenger at June 06, 2008 10:07 AM (c55NW)

70 FDR and the Army Air Force...

AAF had nothing to do with it.  The humanitarian requests for a few bombing runs against the railway lines (or even designation as secondary targets) were made at the highest levels (FDR/Hull) and were refused at that level.

There were hundreds of bombing missions being run in the area.  Designating a secondary for a handful of them would have been nothing.

There is no political reason for the Republicans to support Israel.  Certainly far more votes could be had by playing to anti-Israel Muslims.  It's a position of pure principle.
