Teenage Girl Killed In Iraq For Befriending British Soldier…By Her Father

Still a long way to go in that part of the world.

The Iraqi father who brutally murdered his teenage daughter in an "honour killing" for befriending a British soldier in Basra has said that he has no regrets, and that death "was the least she deserved".
Abdel-Qader Ali boasted that he would have slaughtered his 17-year-old daughter Rand at birth if he had know of the shame she would bring on him and his family.

He proudly told how his two sons helped with the murder, bragging that they were "men enough to help me end the life of someone who had just brought shame to our lives."

…The 46-year-old father holds a key post in the Iraqi health ministry, and was quickly released from police custody following the murder because the officers who arrested him were full of praise for his actions.

…"I have no regrets, and I had the support of all my friends who are fathers like me, and who know that what she did was unacceptable to any Muslim that honours their religion.

If the British had any balls they’d have taken care of this monster themselves.

Where’s today’s General Napier?

"You say that it is your custom to burn widows. Very well. We also have a custom: when men burn a woman alive, we tie a rope around their necks and we hang them. Build your funeral pyre; beside it, my carpenters will build a gallows. You may follow your custom. And then we will follow ours."

Not a single one.

You mean give him three hots and a cot for a couple of years complete with cell remodeling so he doesn't wipe in the direction of Mecca? That's the way the EU does it today.

What happened to that a-hole who murdered his two beautiful daughters in Texas?

Sure, you know some people who act decent (in your presence, at least) that happen to be muslim. But tell me something that muslims do that is good and beneficial for society and the world.

27 Yes, of course these muslim Honor Killings are very rare in the Western world.

I still say that even the best muslims are the equivalent to the worst nutbag Christians, e.g., Fred Phelps and his ilk.

I mean, really, any muslim that isn't chopping off heads and screaming 'death to America' is a moderate muslim in our views, right? That's not a very high standard that we've been conditioned to accept, in my opinion.

Even if they're not actively participating in those heinous acts, most of them support those who do it. Albeit secretly, but they support it all the same. I'll bet that 90% of western muslims support Sharia Law.

31 Bart,
I am not a religious person at all, and I am for winning the war in Iraq. But to state that the entire religion of Islam has zero redeeming qualities is bullshit.

I will give you one example. I do not know the religion inside and out, or even care to study it, but the Islamic belief in treating strangers hospitably and with charity is a redeeming quality. My wife had an excellent experience while traveling in Germany. She missed a train and was standing in the rain, a Muslim (turkish) woman helped her to find her way back to her hotel and even gave her the scarf off her head to keep her dry. The woman insisted. That is just one personal example.

I know it is unpopular to say what I am saying but you sound like a fucking stormfront reader when you say shit like that.

As I said I am totally for winning the war and for killing every one of those fuckers who lift a finger against us.

33 "You mean give him three hots and a cot for a couple of years complete with cell remodeling so he doesn't wipe in the direction of Mecca?"

Nah, let those British squaddies make sure he meets a sudden, painful and "accidental" death involving something ever-so-marginally plausible like multiple gunshots and/or out of control vehicles running him over. Or, you know, spontaneous combustion: as they said in Repo Man, "sometimes people just explode." Especially when there are explosives and flamethrowers just lying around in close proximity.

35 1) "Honor" killings are not rare in the West, not even in America.

2) Honor killings are not actually a "Moslem" issue. They are a problem of Arab culture (also Pakistani culture). AFAIK they are unknown in Iran and Indonesia. The root is that these are "honor-shame" cultures where "honor" is based on, among other things, control of one's female dependents. Failure to maintain such control implies weakness, and one must never admit weakness, even when it is obvious.

That the problem is not "Moslem" can be seen by the "honor" killing of an Israeli Druze girl by her brother, an Israeli soldier; and by the lynching of a Yezid girli in Iraq by her relatives and neighbors for wanting to marry a Moslem (which led to a retaliatory massacre by al-Qaeda).

There is also a "purity" factor. Many "honor" victims are rape victims. The rape somehow "stains" the family "purity" which must be restored by destroying the victim, who becomes the target of revulsion.

This is a horriblly unfair way of thinking, but it seems to have deep roots in himan nature. Self-loathing is endemic among rape victims. Simllar practices are found in Western tradition as well. The heroine of Shakespeare's poem The Rape of Lucrece denounces her violator and stabs herself. The suicide of a rape victim is an old trope.

Others also find the victim distressing.

Again in Shakespeare, Titus Andronicus kills his raped daughter (who has also been terribly mutilated), because he can't bear to see her. (He also kills the rapists and their bitch mother.)

Titus in his speech cites the story of Virginia, a Roman girl killed by her own father to "save" her from being fraudulently seized as a slave concubine (according to the historian Livy).

In the still very tribal culture of the Arab world, such feelings remain dominant. Though there no basis in the Koran or the Hadiths for such acts, Islamic scholars are unwilling to condemn them firmly.

It took a lot of work for western society to break free of this reflex.

36 The moderate Muslim-Americans I've met have exhibited a passive-aggressive attitude toward US policy in majority-Muslim land. They are big fans of Michael Moore, they spend a lot of time snarking about Ariel Sharon, they liken the fence around Gaza to the walls of the Warsaw ghetto, and they view our attacks on sordid regimes and the ensuing occupation of the regimes' population as an attack on "their people". (IOW, they believe that foreign Muslims who riot against cartoons are their people and that fellow American citizens are not.)

I repeat, that's the moderates. uniball, have you actually asked your Muslim friends about what they think of Israel's right to exist (remember to add "within its current borders"! you might hear, "yes of course" with an "in Tasmania" muttered under their breath); of Moore's oeuvre; or of sura 9? Or do you just leave off such topics as "rude"?

Anyway, so much for the moderates.

The extremists hang out at the Saudi-funded al-Farouq mosque and its nearby Riyadh-based Darassalam bookstore, where you can find as much anti-Jewish, anti-Western (and anti-Shia) literature as you can stomach - which in my case isn't all that much.

Pro-Western Muslims do exist, but from all I've seen they are few and the mainstream umma shuns them; and the moderates get in a good chuckle when they hear that, say, Hirsi Ali can't walk down a public street anymore. So the liberals have no influence on their fellow Muslims (because they're not really fellows anymore).

WTF??? The only honor killings that take place in America and the West are your Islamic buddies, you drooling moron.

Nice job of going back several hundred years to find one vaguely similar instance (which wasn't actually an honor killing) in a Shakespeare play and using it to declare equivalence.

38 I gotta say, Rich, that post was some weak shit. Even Shakespeare wasn't describing events in Elizabethan England but in Rome, and in the very early Republic at that. Maybe some Dark Age savages in Merovingian France might have had a few raped women burned at the stake. When people do that we think of them as "Dark Age savages". I seriously doubt Shakespeare(!) would have disagreed.

39 uniball did not give an example of how muslims contribute anything positive to
our civilization and he invoked Godwin's Law by saying that I subscribe to
Naziism for simply harshly criticizing a religion.

Cliffs on my point: Catholics, for example, have a long history of massive world-wide charity work. What do the muslims do that compares to that?

My friends, evidence is on my side. Day after day we read story after story about evil acts commited by muslims. Honor killings, deadly riots, IEDs, blowing up our very own people who are there to liberate them, and suicide bombings -- all in the name of Allah.

What? The Islamic terrorists hijacked Islam?

Well, if that's true the vast majority of supposedly wonderful peaceful muslims would be as outraged by these atrocities as we are. But I hear not a peep. Once in a while an Imam vaguely condemns terrorism and we praise that Imam for being such a great guy. Isn't that pathetic? I think so.

Fergit Napier....bring in Brick Top:

Brick Top: You're always gonna have problems lifting a body in one piece. Apparently the best thing to do is cut up a corpse into six pieces and pile it all together.
Sol: Would someone mind telling me, who are you?
Brick Top: And when you got your six pieces, you gotta get rid of them, because it's no good leaving it in the deep freeze for your mum to discover, now is it? Then I hear the best thing to do is feed them to pigs. You got to starve the pigs for a few days, then the sight of a chopped-up body will look like curry to a pisshead. You gotta shave the heads of your victims, and pull the teeth out for the sake of the piggies' digestion. You could do this afterwards, of course, but you don't want to go sievin' through pig shit, now do you? They will go through bone like butter. You need at least sixteen pigs to finish the job in one sitting, so be wary of any man who keeps a pig farm. They will go through a body that weighs 200 pounds in about eight minutes. That means that a single pig can consume two pounds of uncooked flesh every minute. Hence the expression, "as greedy as a pig".

The heroine of Shakespeare's poem The Rape of Lucrece

The heroine of Shakespear's poem The Rape of Lucrece is a historical figgure. The poem is about the rape of Lucretia, the impetus for founding of the Roman Republic, in 500 BC.

In direct response to this event, social reaction was to overthrow the fricken government over it. People were so outraged, they rebelled.

As for Shakespear's other work, his fictional play Titus Andronicus (also taking place in Ancient Rome) was itself based on a Roman poem written sometime around Eight. Yes, 8. Yes. 8. That's the year. No not PM, AD. And it was entirely fictional and a dramatic device.

Good job. Good equivalence there. I'm convinced.

So much the worse off.

Napier would give some great advice to Pakhistan today. Hell, he'd restore to Britain some of its backbone with a good tongue lashing. Elitism aside, the British Empire brought "the third world" towards civilization in a much more genteel manner than the third world gives to its own. The Brits have their own elitism, but so does EVERY culture, Marxist and Fascist elites being particularly cruel.

The British Empire answered once the question posed, 'how long can we keep hanging on' and this time had better answer that question having let go THEN, reaping the consequences of granting "liberty" where it can not exist without Western imposition on the natives NOW.

Life sucks worse in some places than others. But you can never win for losing.

Posted by: SGT Dan at May 14, 2008 10:41 AM (jWvfJ)

53 #39 Zakat (charity) is one of the "Five Pillars of Islam". There are substantial Moslem charitable organizations. It mostly happens there and stays there, so we don't hear much about it. The scale of Moslem charity is limited by the relative poverty of most Moslems, compared to Europe or America. Some money comes out of the Gulf states. It should be noted that Saudi charity is deeply entangled with Wahhabist proselytizing, and that jihadists routinely exploit "charitable" fronts to move money.

#43 In an honor/shame culture, it's not a trivial matter; it's an intolerable threat to family status.

#45 The point was not that analogous sentiments exist now, but that they also existed (and were very powerful) in a non-Islamic society (ancient Rome) and well-understood in another (Tudor England). If you want examples closer to home, consider the movie The Searchers, in which Ethan Edwards [John Wayne] hunts for his niece Debbie [Natalie Wood], carried off by Comanches - and there is a clear implication that if he ever finds her, he will kill her. Or the movie In Harm's Way, where Navy nurse Annalee Dorne [Jill Haworth] is raped by Commander Paul Eddington [Kirk Douglas], and kills herself afterward. All this is evidence that "honor killings" are not merely an Islamic excrescence. They are an extreme case of a primitive reaction deeply embedded in human psychology. IOW, this stuff has roots. I believe there is evidence of such practices among Arabs long before Mohammed.
