That last name may be new to most of you. But it's a big one.

Here's Wright praising Farrakhan.

Michelle Malkin quotes him at today's presser saying, “I do not in any way disagree with James Cone. Jim is a personal friend of mine.”

If God is not for us and against white people, then he is a murderer, and we had better kill him. The task of black theology is to kill Gods who do not belong to the black community … Black theology will accept only the love of God which participates in the destruction of the white enemy. What we need is the divine love as expressed in Black Power, which is the power of black people to destroy their oppressors here and now by any means at their disposal. Unless God is participating in this holy activity, we must reject his love.” Small wonder that some critics have condemned black liberation theology as “racist idolatry” and “Afro-Nazism.”

Wright's "God" -- and hence Obama's "God" -- is a "god" explicitly conjured up to destroy the white race.

But of course this isn't a story, MSM! Why if a white Republican candidate for president was a cultist in the Aryan Christian Identity movement -- in which Adolf Hitler is a latter-day prophet, and Christ himself was untainted by foul Jewish blood, instead born a perfect blonde Aryan -- I'm sure that wouldn't be a newsworthy story either.

20 This is why I think the DEMS will implode before November and McCain will win. The MSM and the LEFTIST-MEDIA COMPLEX just could not settle with Hillary, instead they had to build up Obama into the next big thing without really looking at what they were trying to sell.

Now he is close to being the front runner and guess what they are starting to have buyer's regret as some serious flaws are coming out. It is like a company creating a product and releasing it without fully testing it Once people start buying it some serious safety and quality issues start to come out.

With the economy,  the 2006 election, global warming media assault, and Iraq, the DEMS are not supposed to be having it this hard. But like all progressives they have a way of shooting themselves in the foot.

The way Hill and Barry have these devisive splits between DEM voters, (Obama gets the youth while Hillary is getting seniors) leaves the party no choice but to have them as running mates regardless who get the NOM. In the end the DEMS will run against McCain with two very RADIOACTIVE candidates.

Argh. I was an unabashed Romney supporter. I don't give a crap about religion, I just liked the candidate. At the height of the Mormon bashing, I sent Ace and others links on Obama's church and the good Rev. Wright because I was damn sick of the double standard. Obama was still an also ran at that point so nobody cared.

The issue here isn't Wright. Wright is a symptom. The issue is that Obama is a member of a black liberation church. Is, was and will be tomorrow. Wright has retired but the church goes on. Wright goes to speak at the National Press Club and the Fruit of Islam provides bodyguards because that's what they are all about. These two theologies are tied at the hip.

Liberals, and far too many Christians, have tried to bash others for not being part of the "right" religion" and playing identity politics. Romney got absolutely ripped for being a member of a religion that in the past, just like Southern Baptists, Catholics and every other religion, had some unsavory practices. It was Huckabee's only reason for being and the wedge he and McCain used to take him out of the race. Huck is a bigot. Fuck him. Fuck Wright in the ear. He's a bigot. But the issue is the current teachings of the church Obama still belongs to.

Obama wasn't sitting in those pews because he agreed with Wright. He was sitting in those pews for political reasons, because he wanted to be politically active in Chicago, and in order to do so he had to appear "black enough" to offset his "whiteish" background.

There is a difference between a racist politician, and one who merely did what he had to do for a while in order to get those of racist leaning (but similar melatonin levels) off his back.

You'll recall that one doesn't even need a white parent to be considered to be "acting white" in the black community: all it takes in some neighborhoods is to do one's homework, or get good grades in school.

Do I like the system? No. I think it sucks big green monkey dicks. But it's the system Obama needed to negotiate in order to get to where he is now in the context of Illinois politics.

The person who is polluting the situation right now is Wright; he is making it clear that his own career is far more important to him than Obama's candidacy.

Racism is wrong--wrong for Robert Byrd, wrong for Barack Obama. But my issues with Obama have less to do with his maneuvering as a politician, and more to do with the destructiveness he would bring to the economy and to foreign policy.

The economy fluctuates- there are always periods of downturn. Bushs "policies" have nothing to do with it, if anything they helped prevent it happening worse and earlier

That would fly if he merely attended the church on occasion or during the course of campaigning- if that was the case Wright would've been a blip on the radar, quickly forgotten.

Obama attended this church for 20 years, and wrote about how he chose it because he approved of what they preached.  He named Wright as his spiritual advisor for his campaign.  He titled one of his books after one of Wright's speeches.  This after acknowledging that he was present for some of Wright's "provacative" sermons, and after printing Hamas propaganda in the church bulletin.  If Obama's association with Wright were merely political, he'd have thrown him under the bus months ago.

Now add on his close association with domestic terrorists in Chicago and Communists in Hawaii along with the fact that Obama has been largely mum on policy details and you have a profile of a radical hiding behind Hope and Change trying to sneak in under the fence before anyone notices.

Obama has been going to that church for twenty years, so he began going around 1988. He didn't run for office in Illinois until 1995. It might be possible that he joined the church for political reasons if he had started going to that church a few months or, to be generous, as long as year before he ran for office. But it's just not plausible that he joined a church seven years before running for office for political reasons.

At first, I did not mind Obama and I would have voted for him over  Mike "We should amend the Constitution to meet god's standards" Huckabee.

Later, Obama started to annoy me because he would lie about his position on the main issue (NAFTA or Iraq) people were voting on which made the democratic process pointless. (Most politicians do the same thing, exluding some local people, McCain, Lieberman, Webb and a few others). The press was happy to go along with it even though his top advisors were literallyy telling people it was bullshit. If  you are keeping score the free press and the democratic process are no longer functioning and serve no purpose at this point.

Now, Obama's crazy pastor/mentor/father figure, who I had already started to ignore, is adding ethnic nationalism to the "movement". Ethnic nationalism +  presidential candidate =  not acceptable.

Exactly.  Look at Google Maps.  There are easily a dozen other churches within walking distance of TUCC; he could have chosen any one of countless respectable black churches, if he wanted to adopt "a black church" to establish his black cred (which is absolutely what he was looking for).  Let's just say he picked that church because it had/has all the black movers and shakers in Chicago politics (which is true).  And?  If he found the message the least bit objectionable, he could have left for another church like Oprah Winfrey did. 

Barack Obama isn't a stupid man; he knows good and well that it's a BLT church.  Liberation theology, whether black, hispanic, or feminist, has always been at its core Marxism wrapped in religious language.  It's Marxism with the opiate.  And incidentally (or not), Pope B16 and JPII have had plenty to say about the heresy of liberation theology (it exists in the Catholic Church as well, mostly in South America). 

James Cone, of course, is a huckster not far removed from the likes of L. Ron Hubbard--just another fraud with a made-up religion to suit his own purposes.  It's BULLSHIT.  Heretic, racist, God-rejecting bullshit.  BLT even says (via Cone) that if God doesn't serve the black liberation cause, God must be rejected.  What kind of fucking religion is that?  (Answer: an heretic cult.)

I know people tend to give him the benefit of the doubt on this point, in my opinion cause the alternative seems too wacky and they want to believe the better scenario. It could be true, but I haven't seen any evidence that is. His book and public statements suggest otherwise.

This is going to sink Obama - this connects all the dots - Obama - Wright - Farrakhan - Cone - back to Obama. Obama is supposedly very smart being a Harvard graduate and all. Yet he tries to use ignorance and stupidity as an excuse as to why he attended the church - he had to know what the church was based on didn't he? He can't have it both ways - smart and stupid at the same time - not after 20 years and $40K later.

I don't think Rev. Wright would sacrifice himself for Obama - it's too late anyway. Wright isn't saying anything worse than he did while he was preaching at the church - too much past evidence exists now with youtube, the new media and all.

Obama is stuck in a no-win. I hope Hillary keeps going after him.

Self-reliance.  You can't fault that, except for the basic hypocrisy of BLT in that it's Marxist theory, which is the antithesis of independence.  They place a value on self-reliance, but still rail against those in the Evil Government who aren't for universal health care, government entitlements, etc.  Basically liberation theology is bullshit, but Wright's definitely not encouraging out of wedlock births or crime or whatever--pretty much just the opposite.

I honestly do think that he was self-conscious about all the factors in his background that made him appear "less black." Naturally, I cannot prove this, but I don't have to: morally, he's just as culpable this way.

But I do know that some black high schoolers take absolutely enormous amounts of shit for things like wearing cowboy boots or listening to Pink Floyd. Stupid stuff.

On the other hand, unlike Ace I'm not shocked--shocked!--to discover that black racism is racism, too. Or that both black racism and white racism are shot through with anti-Semitism.

Beth, you kind of have a point, but there are people like Cosby and some of the Promise Keepers guys who can frame the black-white thing as more like a competition than like a Helter-Skelter fight-to-the-death.

The current Atlantic article on Cosby's mostly closed-to-the-press speaking tour is entitled, "This Is How We Lost to the White Man," which is a direct quote from a typical Cos speech. Now that sort of thinking may not be constructive in an ideal world; I'm not sure Dr. King would approve. But it could be helpful as a sort of ideological bridge. Rev. Wright's and Dr. Farrakan's doctrines of hates are not even constructive in that sense.

Ivy League school, needed a student job, so I took one slinging bits for the computers at the local Cool Kids God Group hangout (or whatever it was called). The two lead pastors there were LibTheology nutters. I'd never heard that particular point of view before, having grown up in the back woods, but I knew right away that it was 100% bullshit, and I told them about it. We agreed to disagree, them because I think they thought they could "convert" me to their racist, sexist point of view and because they didn't know anyone else who could actually fix computers and work with databases as opposed to sitting around all day and smelling like the rest of the dumb kids there, and me because they had money and I needed it.

I think they were nice people, sort of, but they were soooo arrogant and completely blind to the prejudice and hatefulness that was at the core of their so-called tolerance.

Yeah, these liberation theologians are crazy, and Marxists almost to a person.

Does it matter whether Barrack sat there for political points or because he really believed? Not to me. I sat there for all of two days before I told them they were turds. So, I guess I'm trying to say that you need to have at least as much balls as me to qualify for President.

Actually, the moderator very explicitly noted at least three times at the NPC event that the audience was NOT just the press, but had quite a number of invited guests (invited by Wright & family, that is).  It was his Amen Corner you heard cheering and who gave the standing ovation.  Malkin and others completely flubbed that part.  I know the media is an easy target, but damn.

BTW, the whole thing is at C-SPAN, if you missed it.  If you did miss it, it doesn't get any more palatable on full viewing.  As with his vile sermons, there's no "context" missed in what you see on teevee.  It was all the same belligerent, angry bullshit, as usual.  Poor, persecuted Jeremiah Wright.  Everyone's oppressing him as usual, because everyone is raaaaacist (except for him).

This means Obama used his amazing colossal 'superior judgement' to weigh Rev Wright's hatred against getting ahead politically, and (surprise) chose getting ahead politically. Apparently what Rev Wright was spewing wasn't that bad, to Obama. He sat there, Sunday after Sunday thinking, 'I can make this work for me'.

I can't make the flow chart here but think of these names charted with Ayers's arrow(maoism) pointing at Cone, Wright and Obama. We really need to start creating a huge flow chart showing all the interactions; including Obama's jihadi friends.

I noticed that dkos has dropped the pretense and is now openly referring to Obama as the possible first PROGRESSIVE American president. Before the Wright debacle they didn't use that term openly but use code: the Change candidate.

Makes me wonder why so many of them didn't back Obama at the beginning, instead of Edwards. Did they know or was it another attempt to fake people out?  Redirect national attention at Edwards while the most radical candidate slipped under the radar.
