The danger in this ad is that, unlike Mike DuKakis, Barka Hussein Obama can immediately distribute blame for the problemsin Chicago on the City, County, and many other State officials.

Further, BHO has an opportunity to excuse his actions by claiming that there were other reasons for his actions, and that he expected a better solution (that never materialized).

This ad might make the "New Coke" candidate look palatable.

A better choice for ad material might be the many Rezko housing renovations that went bankrupt. 

Apparently, many were in BHO's district, had BHO's involvement, and yet failed, even though $43million was invested.  The implication is that an elected official helps someone get a big pile of money, and fails to have it properly used, and fails to take care of his constituents. 

There were many people in Chicago who spent several cold weeks in buildings that were to be renovated; why?  Where did the $43million go, and who was responsible?

More importantly, why should we allow this sort of thing to happen at the national level?

I'm all for the death penalty, but would sure as hell hate to be tried in Illinois.

I would say the support for the death penalty is one of those issues that crosses party lines, considering that the support for the death penalty is in the 70% range.

When Clinton was Governor and running for President in 1992, an execution in Arkansas was coming up and Clinton left the campaign trail to head back to Little Rock to be there should he be needed.  (He wasn't, and the execution went off without a hitch).

People don't vote on "issues."

The NY Governor's race in 1994 was a one-issue race:  The death penalty.*    Cuomo was agin' it, while Pataki was a fer it.    Pataki won, and signed a death penalty bill into law.  It was the non-elected liberal State Supreme Court who overturned the statute.

*Specifically the case of Thomas Grasso.  Grasso was convicted of  murder in OK and sentenced to death.  NY then requested extradition and tried him for murder on Staten Island.  Grasso was convicted and sentenced to 25 to life.  Cuomo refused to send him back to OK for execution, wanting him to serve out his NY term first.  The first thing Pataki did as Governor was ship his @ss back to OK, one of the few good things Pataki ever did.  Why should I pay for that scumbag's room and board for 25+ years, only then to have him go back to OK to be executed?  With Cuomo, in typical liberal fashion, principles trumped cruel and unusual.

Uhm, the Supreme Court ruled that one has to be 18 at the time of the commission of premeditated first degree murder to be subject to the death penalty.  (Think Lee Malvo, one of the Beltway Snipers, getting a pass.)  I think the Court got it wrong, relying on some nebulous 'international standards' to make their ruling, rather than admitting some 16-year-olds are vicious killers without a lick of remorse.
