If you accept the Koran and the Hadiths, you have to accept the statements of Mr. Asscrack the Top Islamic Lawyer.

Even a "moderate Caliph" to challenge the Imamocracy would likely face violent opposition for challenging the text and the model of "the perfect man," Mohammed.

As the world grows more interconnected, by technology and transportation, and more advanced technology becomes more widespread, this "problem" will become more intractable. I don't know how it's going to be resolved, but I'd place money on a lot more people dying of causes other than old age and disease in the process.

The Moche and the Aztec practiced blood sacrifice in vast numbers, and they basically no longer exist as cultures. The Hattusha empire creased to exist so completely that it was unknown for millenia. Civilizations, not just states or cities, can disappear, though in modern times they are unlikely to be forgotten. One or more modern civilizations is likely to fail completely in the next several decades, we shall see.

Islam is, at the moment, in an expansionist phase, in Asia, in Europe, in Africa, and to a much smaller extent in the Americas, Russia, Japan, Australia... And the "expansionist version" of Islam is almost exclusively Wahhabism, i.e. the same "radical" (originalist) version as Mr. Asscrack.

I'm not sure what the consensus is on this in the Muslim world. I believe rape is illegal in Saudi Arabia even if the woman isn't muslim. This seems like a far cry from being an obligation of every good muslim male.

Plus islam seems to have a, uh, different view on prosthelytizing.
