Poll: Clinton Does Better Than Obama Against McCain In Swing States

Hm. Does this mean I can stop rooting for this vile woman?

Hillary Clinton is maintaining a lead over rival Barack Obama among Pennsylvania Democrats, who are split along racial lines three weeks before the state's primary, according to a Quinnipiac University poll.
The poll also found Clinton does better than Obama in a match-up against Republican John McCain in Pennsylvania and two other swing states, Florida and Ohio.
The March 24-31 survey released today found that Clinton has support of 50 percent of likely Democratic voters in Pennsylvania compared with 41 percent who support Obama. A March 18 Quinnipiac poll found that Clinton had 53 percent to 41 percent for Obama.

The racial divide also showed up in voter preferences in a general election contest in the three swing states, which together have 68 of the 270 electoral votes needed to win the presidency.

The survey found that Clinton leads McCain in all three swing states where the poll was conducted. In contrast, Obama, 46, would lose to McCain, 71, in Florida and edges him by slight margins in Ohio and Pennsylvania.
In Florida, Clinton has support from 44 percent of voters compared with McCain's 42 percent. In a theoretical match-up against Obama, McCain garners 46 percent of the vote compared with Obama's 37 percent, according to the poll.
In Pennsylvania, Clinton has a 48 percent to 40 percent lead over McCain, while Obama leads McCain 43 percent to 39 percent.
In Ohio, Clinton is leading McCain 48 percent to 39 percent, while Obama has a narrow lead over McCain of 43 percent to 42 percent.

Ah, well. I guess it doesn't matter much who wins. Which is good, because Obama's going to win. There's just nothing she can do about it. Not even attempting to destroy him, in order to save the Republic, of course.

Any time the Clintons act ruthlessly to acquire or cling to power it's to save something or other. Anything except their own asses. Always for the folks, as Bill O'Reilly calls 'em.

Who really knows?

The bottom line is still that the best situation has both candidates neck-and-neck until the convention, and then we'll see. Two reasons...

1) we want the two warring factions to hate each other with the same religious fervor that they hate us with- thereby eliminating any possibility of a reconciliation

2) we want the two warring factions to spend every last cent they have trying to out-Spy Vs Spy each other- rendering them as close to flat broke as possible going into the fall.

It's funny to watch them do to each other the most horrible things they can, all with the caveat, "Just wait until you see what the Republicans do!" That would be a neat trick- I don't think the GOP has the balls, much less the connections necessary, to really go after an Obama or a Clinton in a way that even begins to match the Democrat media machine... talk about your battered-wife syndrome.

Not only are the polls meaningless this far out, but we still haven't seen what the Dems have in their bag of tricks. They've pulled out all the stops to kill each other, but it won't be long before they try to come for McCain. And they'll have to compress that strategy under current conditions, because they'll only have a few months to do it.

This is the amusing thing about the whole situation- I will promise you that nobody in that newsroom was even paying attention to McCain's poll numbers because they were too busy coming up with ways to destroy the other Democrat.

This is a quick attempt to put that back into play. See if it gets repeated later today- that'll tell us what the situation is with that as an attack plan in the longer term.

Have to say, I hope She doesn't waste everything her opposition research team digs up against the Candyman--McCain's campaign will be slightly handicapped if he can't spring some new dirt come fall.

Food for thought: Will Hillary's collegiality with Juan McCain be strong enough that she'd surreptitiously pass him any ammunition she can't burn through after she loses the nomination to Obama? Is her party loyalty stronger than her bitterness? Her ambition has been cultivated for decades, and she might pull a Goetterdaemmerung....please, God, let her go psycho.

One thing poll numbers don't measure is the intensity of the commitment to the candidate. It has a significant impact on fundraising, grass roots operations and turnout.

In terms of enthusiasm, Obama tops Clinton tops McCain.

At this point, it doesn't matter who roots for Hillary or who votes for her or anything, she is not going to go out quietly. She has enough juice right now to justify staying in until the bitter end and, win or lose, she will leave the Democratic party in ruins by the time she's through.

Remember, by definition, what is good for the Clintons is good and what is bad for them is bad. Nothing else matters.

I have to admit, a year or two ago I thought this election was going on too long already, but now? I think this is, without a doubt, the best, most entertaining election I've ever seen.

I wish it would never end.

If someone I wanted to be president was running, I'm not so sure I would be able to just think about how entertaining it is. I might be worried my candidate wasn't going to win but that's already been established.
