Update: Poll Claims That Obama Takes MoE Lead In PA

The now-retired general counsel and chief of staff of the House Judiciary Committee, who supervised Hillary when she worked on the Watergate investigation, says Hillary’s history of lies and unethical behavior goes back farther – and goes much deeper – than anyone realizes.
Jerry Zeifman, a lifelong Democrat, supervised the work of 27-year-old Hillary Rodham on the committee. Hillary got a job working on the investigation at the behest of her former law professor, Burke Marshall, who was also Sen. Ted Kennedy’s chief counsel in the Chappaquiddick affair. When the investigation was over, Zeifman fired Hillary from the committee staff and refused to give her a letter of recommendation – one of only three people who earned that dubious distinction in Zeifman’s 17-year career.
Why?
“Because she was a liar,” Zeifman said in an interview last week. “She was an unethical, dishonest lawyer. She conspired to violate the Constitution, the rules of the House, the rules of the committee and the rules of confidentiality.”

Of course, Obama's a lying, corrupt machine politician too.

Interesting that this Democrat lawyer sat on this until Hillary threatened to sink a more liberal presidential candidate. Correction: Alex informs me he didn't sit on this; he told David Brock about it for his book on Hillary, way back when Brock was a "conservative." (An Andrew Sullivan conservative.) So a long time ago, in other words.

Poll: 45-43, one poll says, in favor of Obama. Probably not right, but other polls do seem to be trending in Obama's favor.

Actually, didn't Zeifman bring this up right after New Hampshire? I guess technically what you're implying about him "sitting on it" is still true, but it's not like this is news as of today.

I think it's more the case that a complicit media has sat on it until it's impact would be of highest utility to "their" candidate.

Hillary assured me that she had not drafted, and would not advocate, any such rules changes. However, as documented in my personal diary, I soon learned that she had lied. She had already drafted changes, and continued to advocate them. In one written legal memorandum, she advocated denying President Nixon
representation by counsel. In so doing she simply ignored the fact that in the committee’s then most recent prior impeachment proceeding, the committee had afforded the right to counsel to Supreme Court Justice William O. Douglas.

I had also informed Hillary that the Douglas impeachment files were available for public inspection in the committee offices. She later removed the Douglas files without my permission and carried them to the offices of the impeachment inquiry staff — where they were no longer accessible to the public.

This goes beyond inexperience.

8 In fairness, Zeifman hasn't been just sitting on it until now. I understand that this episode is discussed in David Brock's The Seduction of Hillary Rodham, which came out in the 90s -- with citations to Zeifman. There just wasn't a blogosphere then to make the story well known.

The MSM is still keeping this buried, though I have doubts it would make any difference if it were otherwise. Aging liberal boomers still nurse a Nixon-hatred that approaches modern BDS, and I doubt many of them would care about this story if they even knew about it -- after all, Nixon wasn't a foreign terrorist, so he wasn't deserving of the full protections of the legal system. And even if Democrats might be otherwise disposed to care about this story, for someone to tell the truth about a Democrat's past behavior apparently constitutes "swift-boating," and is grounds for indignant denunciation.

23 Neal Boortz actually just interviewed Zeifman on his show. The interview ended about 10 minutes ago (at least the part about hillary) and he went in to some pretty big detail about what she had done.

Zeifman had even told her about the precedent which she was trying to hide and she then came back later and claimed (the the same man who told her about it!) that there was no precedent to allow Nixon to have counsel.

When, in truth, she went and took the files and hid them in her office which was in another building which was private. Of course....that part is already in the story.

Still, to hear Zeifman (a long time Dem) denounce her and say that it was a "moral imperative" for other democrats to vote against her was just choice.

This story has actually been out for a while now, I'd guess I first read this guy's first hand account of all this a couple months ago. Pretty shocking stuff, even for HillBashers.
