Guess That Party: Corrupt Alabama Governor of Unknown Party Affiliation Released From Prison
Hm. Republicans are named as such in sex scandals because, the claim goes, we make such an issue of it we're hypocrites when we indulge in trashy behavior and thus it's very, very relevant to the story, so much so it goes in the headline almost without fail.
Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but Democrats have made a great deal of hay of the "culture of corruption" they claim is/was due to a Republican presence in DC. So-- if I'm following the MSM's (ahem) logic -- shouldn't a Democrat caught in a major corruption scandal at least be identified by party? Shouldn't, in fact, his party run in the headline itself? Will the MSM ever explain its rules on this? Because it looks, to most of us, like they have the simplest rule of all: Republicans' affiliation headlined, Democrats' affiliation omitted entirely. Siegelman has maintained that certain Republicans targeted him after he was elected governor in 1998.
Unfuckingbelieveable. They won't mention that he's a Democrat, but they're perfectly willing to print his claim of an evil Rethuglican Right Wing Conspiracy.

No. They mean well. It's what you feel, not what you do that counts, and the Democrats are righteously angry that forty years after the summer of '68 we still do not live in a Utopian society that is truly egalitarian and has a big ol' bottle of "History Correction Fluid."

Exactly. Scott Horton has a little PR shop set up to scream "set up" every single time a Democrat is caught in a crime. he tried really, really hard to pull the Bushco "set-up' of Spitzer too.

Dandy Don's a Democrat. Democrats still dominate this state's elected offices (Gov R, Lt. Gov. D, HR 63D, 42R, S 22D, 13R). They just don't dominate the Federal ones. Oh, despite drive-by media intimations otherwise, ol' Dandy Don has a history here, a well known one

Oh yeah, I forgot. They let Dandy Don out partly, IMO, because he is a D politician who probably won't jump bail. Do not trust the drive-by media reports of the corruption surrounding Dandy Don and Richard Scrushy. Scrushy (who had made enemies out of several large, politically connected medical care facility operators) is an entrepreneur who found himself between the Scylla of Medicare and the Charybdis of the State of Alabama Certificate of Need Board (medical facilities and services) that was brought into being by George C. Wallace.
I'll put it this way, had I been on that jury Scrushy would not have been convicted and Dandy Don put away for life.

As mentioned earlier, MSNBC, and in particular Dan Abrams, is going nuts over this. Abrams has basically been trying to get Rove imprisoned for a month. A couple of days ago he had the notorious Horton on to give his wisdom on the subject. Abrams countered Horton's side with Siegelman's attorney and sister. So three guests, all on the same side telling Abrams what he wanted to hear.
