Obama Never Heard Uncle Jerry's Controversial Sermons, Except, of Course, the Ones He Owned on Videotape and Mimicked to Develop His Own Public Voice

In related news, Albert Speer just emailed to ask me, "Adolf who now?"

Also, Heinrich Himmler writes to say, "I swear to God, I thought he was talking about the gnus. Honestly, yeah, I thought it was pretty weird he was always ranting about them, but I thought it was mostly harmless; I can count the number of gnu-owned businesses I've seen on one hand. Wow. Guess we might have avoided an awful lot of stress and upset if we'd just been listening a little closer. I'm going to have to call a great big 'my bad' on this one. I don't mind telling you fellers I feel like a bit of a horse's ass, if I'm being honest. Oh well, that's why God gave pencils erasers!"

Whoah, the mailbag is overflowing with emails from high ranking Nazis. This from Dr. Josef Mengele: "Anyone who doubts Herr Obama is telling the truth is a racist."

As I'm concerned, Dr. Mengele's word is the gold standard, so file closed.

Bonus: ABCNews' Jake "Racist" Tapper also questions the Obamessiah's convenient lapses from omniscience to obliviousness. If Obama's just hearing of all this now, how come he disinvited Wright from a public event a year ago, with a staffer explaining sometimes Wright's sermons get "too rough"?

Here's a more interesting nugget: Rolling Stone published an article about the radical roots of Barack Obama called, cleverly enough, "The Radical Roots of Barack Obama."

You can see that title in this URL:

http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/story/13390609/
campaign_08_the_radical_roots_of_barack_obama

But now that the radical roots of Barack Obama turn out to be not just something that gets impotent aging RS editors sexually aroused, but something that might just end Obama's candidacy, the article isn't called that anymore.

Now it exists officially in the Rolling Stone archives under the decidedly less damning headline Destiny's Child.

Ah, well. Rock n' roll is forever reinventing itself, I guess. Rock on, aging out-of-touch pot-addled Rolling Stone hippies. Rock on.

"No gnus is good news."- Heinrich Himmler.

No doubt Rolling Stone thought that being a radical was a good thing and would appeal to their young reader demographic.  Especially if you are a leftist.  Then they found out that most Amercians didn't agree with that view.

7 if there's any good to come out of this, its that every ambitious black man and woman in the country is probably re-evaluating their more radical associates right now, and maybe this kind of hate disguised as christianity will wither  and die as the money walks away [and, possibly, dem politicians refuse to be seen in those churches, thereby losing influence].

i mean, hell, there'll always be leftists and many black churches will be lefty, but this shit? "aw, hell naw..."

8 I always thought he was imitating Malcolm X with his speaking style. His use of the Malcolm X thrice wagging forefinger for emphasizing a point is masterful. (Though the real  deal wasn't reading from a teleprompter.) Pictured him spending a pleasant Friday evening at home, after a hard day of mixing with whitey at Harvard Law,  he pops in the movie X, gets a good buzz going, and play, rewind, memorize, imitate/emote all night long. You'll notice his fashion is X'ish too. Grays and browns and a 60'ish cut to his suits. Thin ties.  All the Farakkhan folk on the South Side of Chicago have similar suits, but different ties. The Jesse Jackson much more seventies in appearance. Anyway,  I guess a guy named Barry from Hawaii needs more than one teacher in rhetoric to get up to snuff.

And his accent and accentuation in that video. What a joke that  is. It's worse than Hillary's when she's pandering down South.

Saw this in the comments at the Tapper story:

>However, MICHELLE OBAMA is quite clearly visible in the tape of the post-9/11 "sermon". Do not know about others.

Not hard to spot, she is shown by church cameras apparently returning to her seat in the front row, smiling, in the midst of Wright's "speech".

Seems to be wearing brown dress or similar color attire, hair is long and more to the face than we are used to seeing it, smile is unmistakable.

If Barack was not there, it is hard to believe she did not share it with him!

Check out the clip as shown on TV, she is there.

Can anybody here verify this? I'm at work behind a firewall and can't see youtube, etc.

Sure they'll blame Hillary some but I wonder if the Chicago morons that encouraged Obama to run are in for a hard time from the rest of the Chicago politicians.

I wonder if any of this will come up in the primaries for Obama's Senate re-election campaign. Cause he will never be President now.

No mention in the Sunday Phila Enquirer of this. Must not be relevant.

Front page above the fold: "Part 8 of a 10 part series: How Bushs Iraq War is destroying our Veterans" (im paraphrasing)

First line "We were just sitting around, waiting to get blown up"

Time frame of story: 2004/2005. But its still RELEVANT, you see? Because NOTHING has changed in Iraq since 2005. Has it?

Below the fold story: "Democrats looking to make huge gains in GOP suburbs"

No mention anywhere of this Jeremiah character.

You guys are so March 14th.

I still think most of this is smoke, the real fire is at the heart of the church's teachings.  Trinity United Church of Christ:

We are a congregation which is Unashamedly Black and Unapologetically Christian... Our roots in the Black religious experience and tradition are deep, lasting and permanent. We are an African people, and remain "true to our native land," the mother continent, the cradle of civilization. God has superintended our pilgrimage through the days of slavery, the days of segregation, and the long night of racism. It is God who gives us the strength and courage to continuously address injustice as a people, and as a congregation. We constantly affirm our trust in God through cultural expression of a Black worship service and ministries which address the Black Community.

Imagine if this was a white Republican who belonged to a church that was "unashamedly" white.  A church that proclaimed it's adherents to be European and true to the native land.  Imagine how short that campaign would be.

The reverend is almost superflous.  Obama knowingly belongs to a racist, separatist church and has for 20 years.

Posted by: JackStraw at March 16, 2008 09:28 AM (t+mja)

23 Well, Peter denied he knew Jesus and they made him a SAINT, so Obama giving the Sgt. Shultz defense in regard to REVEREND Wright certainly has a religous precident.

Posted by: Spartan Fan at March 16, 2008 09:30 AM (RP451)

24 John Kerry ignored the Swiftboat Veterans. At first. Obama is not making that mistake. The Jeremiah Wright sermons are damaging to Obama in the same way the Swiftboat Veterans story was for John Kerry. These stories attack the candidate at their strength, at their primary message. For Kerry it was his war hero message. For Obama its his racial healing message.

The only difference is that the Democrats still have a chance to pick a different candidate. I don't think they have the balls to.

Buraq (or Baraq) voted "present" by sitting there in that pew for 20 years, just like he did in the state legislature and the US Senate.

I would have more respect for Buraq if he had the balls to actually say what he really believes.  To sit there for 20 years and nod your head without opening your mouth is positively cowardly.  But it does fit his MO of voting "Present" instead of taking a stand.

I remember the Swift Boaters had the same problem getting the real story into the old media.  It took the MSM a couple of weeks to examine (read dispute the facts) after the story went nuclear in the new media.

I sure hope so.  Plus better yet, some actually funny comedians should hopefully pick this up and run with it.  Because sure as hell the MSM will drop it from the screen as quick as they possibly can.  I expect that over the next week or so, just about anything and everything will suddenly be more "newsworthy" than this.
But comedians, see, even lefty comedians, which alas is most of them, comedians just can't resist a story like this.  It's really really ugly, so it makes people uncomfortable, so there's built-in tension, so it's natural comedy fodder.  I'm counting on comedians to keep this story alive until August and maybe even until November.

Clear-tiz-won #47 "I have never before heard Juan say something I agreed with. Maybe your experience has been different."

Could be.  He had a midday talk-show on NPR, back in the front half of this decade, and yeah he was every bit as liberal as that affiliation would imply, but many's the time he'd verbally shirtfront some extremist dipshit caller or stupid guest, just for peddling victimology, let alone for talking the same kind of crap that Rev. Wright talks.
Okay "shirtfront" overstates it, by quite a bit, but he made it crystal clear which bullshit he was NOT buying, and why he was not buying it.
He may have changed since then, or the context in which he now appears may be accentuating his liberalism in a less flattering way.  I dunno.  If I had a television or were willing to watch somebody else's, I'd have a more up-to-date opinion about that.  I could easily be wrong, and often am, but for me, the line between (traditional) "liberal" and (traditional) "leftist" gets drawn somewhere to the left of Juan Williams.

"I never heard that"...

After those hateful sermons when a member of the congregation says "that's not what I heard" it only means that's not what I'll admit was said--my ears are too kind to hear anything bad from someone so revered as the Rev.blackpanther who does so much good by rousing up the worst within individuals in order to "unite" for the common goal to get whitey who just doesn't get what the Rev. meant. After all, it's whitey's fault that those sermons were necessary to speak the black man's truth so that we can all face the same reality, i.e. "social gospel"--that sounds so good, like Jesus' beatitudes, only updated to be relevant.

When JUAN WILLIAMS doesn't get why Obama thinks he can sweep this under the rug, there's something to be said.

How's this? :

Juan Williams is to Alan Colmes as James Lileks is to Sean Hannity.

#72 "That's what I'm saying. The late night night comics will not touch this."

I guess we'll be finding out over the next few days.  Or somebody will. Whoever watches Dave / Jay / Conan will probably be posting  here about it.

75 JEREMIAH(UNCLE TOM)WRIGHT or is he more like SIMON LaGREE

76 Stoopy smacks forehead!
Hey!  If it's NOW Sunday night ... okay, wait ... if it's NOW Monday morning, then there's already been a Saturday night between now and the big outbreak of Wright-wrelated news, wright?
See how quick I figured that out?
So there's been an episode of SNL come and gone already, hasn't there?
So ... DID they do anything with this stuff, or am I wrong again?
Oh dear...

Posted by: Stoop Davy Dave at March 17, 2008 01:45 AM (wpzaK)

77 Nope- they led off with a Spitzer bit, then moved on.

78 Bah!
I hate being wrong!
Not enough to stop doing so, y'unnerstand, but still hating it.

Posted by: Stoop Davy Dave at March 17, 2008 07:56 AM (wpzaK)

79 Lemme climb out on a lower limb this time:
SNL got the whole way through the Spitzer bit without ever once mentioning his political party affiliation, did I at least get that one right?
