I've never liked Gibson.  He's about as attractive as cream of wheat, and about as interesting too. 

I don't think I ever saw a movie this guy was in, and am sick to death of the celebrity obsession in our culture, but making fun of a suicide or OD just isn't cool.  All the headlines about Ledger and the Winehouse woman indicate that their friends and loved ones were/are super concerned about them, etc.  It's sad that family members can't get somebody committed any more, IMHO.

I'm feel indifferent towards Ledger's death. No reason to be insensitive about the matter.

But it has turned into such a cartoon with the involvement of the Olsen twins. Typical Holloywood twits with more money than sense in yet another jam. It's hard to pity someone you cannot relate to.

Oh yeah, and I'll take John Gibson over Heath Ledger any day.

Is there really a need for any apology?  Maybe he could say "I was out of line, maybe.  I'll try to make it funnier next time".  I agree it wasn't that funny, unlike his Randi Rhodes riffing that sent me into a teary laugh fit.  But, if this causes him to tone down completely for fear of offending, who will make me laugh?  Sean Hannity?  I don't think so.

I really don't think it's even brief apology worthy.

Seattle, I disagree that it's about partisanship. For me it's about the circumstances. If Heath Ledger had been killed during a car jacking, I think we'd all be more outraged at Gibson. But Ledger basically killed himself through stupidity and carelessness. And let's face facts here - anyone who was that cavalier with medications must have had a death wish (or at least an indifference to death) at some subconcious level.

Blah blah blah blah. I don't give a shit enough to bother to actually know what the fuck I'm talking about. (seriously. Really. No sarcasm.)

Now imagine Air America radio personality Randi Rhodes goes on her show that very day and tells (unfunny) jokes and laughs about the death because he was in Passion of the Christ, with Randi joking about him being resurrected and playing sound clips from the film for supposed comedic effect.

Would I be pissed? Slightly.

But here's what happened here so far as I know which is not much beyond skimming Ace's headline because, like I said, I don't give a shit:
