| New Study: Warming Is Naturally Caused And Shows No Human InfluencePS, please stop debating. Didn't you hear? It's over. What part of "over" don't you understand? The "o" or the "ver"? Now shut up and pretend to care about CO2 (The Invisible Killer) while producing as much of it as your paycheck and/or trust fund permits. PPS, don't have children. You'll want to use the carbon credits for children never sired to make room for that sweeeeeet villa in Aspen you've had your eye on.Climate scientists at the University of Rochester, the University of Alabama, and the University of Virginia report that observed patterns of temperature changes (‘fingerprints’) over the last thirty years are not in accord with what greenhouse models predict and can better be explained by natural factors, such as solar variability... These results are in conflict with the conclusions of the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and also with some recent research publications based on essentially the same data. However, they are supported by the results of the US-sponsored Climate Change Science Program (CCSP). ... The fundamental question is whether the observed warming is natural or anthropogenic (human-caused). Lead author David Douglass said: “The observed pattern of warming, comparing surface and atmospheric temperature trends, does not show the characteristic fingerprint associated with greenhouse warming. The inescapable conclusion is that the human contribution is not significant and that observed increases in carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases make only a negligible contribution to climate warming.” Co-author John Christy said: “Satellite data and independent balloon data agree that atmospheric warming trends do not exceed those of the surface. Greenhouse models, on the other hand, demand that atmospheric trend values be 2-3 times greater. We have good reason, therefore, to believe that current climate models greatly overestimate the effects of greenhouse gases. Satellite observations suggest that GH models ignore negative feedbacks, produced by clouds and by water vapor, that diminish the warming effects of carbon dioxide.” Co-author S. Fred Singer said: “The current warming trend is simply part of a natural cycle of climate warming and cooling that has been seen in ice cores, deep-sea sediments, stalagmites, etc., and published in hundreds of papers in peer-reviewed journals. The mechanism for producing such cyclical climate changes is still under discussion; but they are most likely caused by variations in the solar wind and associated magnetic fields that affect the flux of cosmic rays incident on the earth’s atmosphere."Meanwhile, in Bali, they've finally hammered out a non-binding inter-governmental resolution to have a roast duck dinner as a late meal, starting the night out with hookers for aperitifs and anal. Thanks to RobG. Comments1
It's a good thing Global Warming fundamentalists are impervious to reality otherwise this might ruin their day.

Like the asshole up in Massachusetts that wants to get rid of "holiday lights" because of the global warming they cause. Now, I want to see someone here post all the headlines tomorrow from the papers: My guesses - Assembled with actual quotes from the article above NY TIMES - Scientists project that climate change is ‘unstoppable’ even with controlling the emission of greenhouse gases, such as CO2, as is proposed in current legislation. WASH POST - Climate scientists publish results in conflict with the conclusions of the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and proposed current legislation. Boston Globe - Observed pattern of warming, atmospheric temperature trends . Inescapable conclusion is observed increases in carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases Any bets? This wingnut webring meme is to me the oddest. It is fact that Republicans base most of their modern ideology on two arbitrary "faith" based concepts-monotheistic religion and ( a twisted) patriotism. Both of these are conceptualized in the mind and changeable. Yet they try to imprint this type of rationalized thought on people who are concerned with the Earth's environment. Isn't his just an insult to all the freak ass Christians that win elections for you? What's more believable, anthropogenic climate change or virgin birth? It's funny the way leftists and environmentalists have painted themselves into a corner with this whole global warming thing. All along, they should have just been focused on the proven ill effects of pollution, which everyone is in agreement about. But I guess that wasn't quite apocalyptic enough for them.
Despite what you hilariously angry leftists seem to think, we right-wingers do want clean air and water. (Which, for example, is why we've been on the nuclear power bandwagon for a long time; environmentalists are finally starting to catch up with us on that one.) O, for fuck's sake entropy. Of course, you'd expect a corporate whore to say such things. But nowhere in this dreamy landmark study is such a claim made. Here's what the claim is:
Models are very consistent, as this article demonstrates, in showing a significant difference between surface and tropospheric trends, with tropospheric temperature trends warming faster than the surface. What is new in this article is the determination of a very robust estimate of the magnitude of the model trends at each atmospheric layer. These are compared with several equally robust updated estimates of trends from observations which disagree with trends from the models Fucking earth-shattering, entropy. The fact Douglass extrapolates his findings to make such a claim, discredits him. Posted by: armand hammer at December 19, 2007 06:02 PM (su17D) 43
