TWO MORE FUCKING PLANTS

Does CNN actually have a difficult time finding Republicans to ask questions at a Republican debate?

Apparently so.

The latest plants? The Social Security question asked by an activist who quit his job to work with Dick Durbin on Social Security; the guy begging Ron Paul to run as an Independent and guarantee a Democratic victory is a Bill Richardson supporter.

Thanks to CJ.

I am getting physically angry now.

1 Ace, I'll repost what I said in an earlier thread because the formatting got screwed up there and because it's now way down the page, with the caveat that these new revelations really do make it clear that CNN is either corrupt or (more likely) so blinded by its own bias that it's indifferent to vetting questions:

Yes the staging of the CNN debate was an awful, biased mess, seemingly contrived to paint conser But so what? I mean SRSLY people, so what?

1.) All the whining in the world is not going to wring an acknowledgement out of CNN that this was a "frame-up" job. Not. Gonna. Happen. And in light of that I simply can't waste the energy to get too outraged anymore.

2.) Sure the "conservative" questioners were often made to look like loons. But so what? Who is going to remember that come November? This debate was for the benefit of GOP (largely conservative) primary voters, not the general public. I seriously doubt that any fence-sitters who tuned in are going to be affected by the demeanor of the right-wing crazies CNN selected, if they even remember them about a year from now.

3.) Yes CNN was trying to drive wedges. (The religious attack was especially low...the whole "gays in the military" topic CNN floated was just humorously pathetic because really now who the fuck cares anymore? That issue is so 1990s...the only person who cares is Andrew Sullivan.) But again, so what? The result was actually a fairly entertaining debate where the candidates drew blood. Romney really put the screws to Huckabee in particular, which was quite welcome. This topic has already been discussed before, but if Huckabee gets the nomination then fuck it, I'm writing in Ron Paul. I'd sooner open a vein than vote for him. Hell, I'd vote for Hillary over Huckabee, for any number of strategic reasons.

2 Wow, jeffb would rather support a jew hater than vote for a Christian. Smart. Ace: Is there any way to obtain the names of these people before the debate? I think someone should demand it since it is clear that the msm is pulling this crap.

Posted by: aoshq janitorial & escort service at November 29, 2007 04:27 PM (opN4z)

3 I'm shocked at this development, SHOCKED, I SAY! Not really. I don't know how you can even pay attention to politics and the MSM any longer. I have to avert my eyes, ears, nose, sense of touch, ESP, etc., from all of it, otherwise I just get physically angry and want to scream at the utter unfairness of how politics is practiced and reported in the US now. I guess that makes me a "right wing moon-bat" but if so, that what I am. I HATE politics now. I HATE everything Clinton and/or Democrat. I HATE the Press and its willingness to throw objectivity away to become latched onto a single political party/agenda. Fuck it all.

Posted by: Sharkman at November 29, 2007 04:27 PM (UioS4)

4 My post got eaten. Here it goes again: Well, let me get angry at you getting angry: Why would you expect the msm to act any differently than they have acted in every election? They've never hidden their true colors, so why? I know you are not naive, but what guarantees if any, did you think you had that would prevent them from acting in their nature once again?

Posted by: aoshq janitorial & escort service at November 29, 2007 04:36 PM (opN4z)

5 These are piling up so quickly I've lost track of the total ... it's six now, right? Or four, or seven? For just this debate, I mean.

6 "Not. Gonna. Happen. And in light of that I simply can't waste the energy to get too outraged anymore." Yes, chumps, we hold all the cards, and there isn't a damn thing you can do to prevent us doing anything we damn well please. Glad one of you finally wised-up, at least. The rest of you morons should emulate this practical person, and STFU too. Just think, after we install Hillary as your President, all the news is gonna be good news!!

7 Ace, two more here. Ted "Corn subsidies" Faturos was an intern for Jane Harman and David "Why aren't more blacks Republicans" McMillan is an avowed Bush hater and John Edwards supporter.

This is reminds me of the Aesop fable about the frog and the scorpion: CNN behaves as it does because it is its nature to do so. Deal with it, guys. There's no point in getting angry.

The MSM has been hyperpartisan for a long time now: ever since Walter Cronkite decided to be a player in US foreign policy, and probably a lot longer than that. The difference nowadays is that we have access to other sources of information; and we have a medium for making our complaints heard.

Sometimes - such as with Rathergate - we really can make a difference.

So, don't get mad: get even.

How does one accomplish this feat, Ace?  FWIW, I'm becoming mentally beautiful right now.

Don't forget that great republican cartoonist Nick Anderson who works for the Houston Chronicle who did the Cheney question. sarc/ off

There weren't any republicans asking questions in that republican debate.

Wow, jeffb would rather support a jew hater than vote for a Christian. Smart.

Hey there buddy, here's a fresh load of shut-the-fuck-up for ya.  I've been a regular on this site for a lot longer than you have, and you've got a lot of gall to tar me (even by association) with the "jew-hater" brush.  I'll bet that if I dropped the name "Cedarford" you wouldn't even know what I'm talking about.  Anyway, I've taken on bigger idiots than you.

And Ron Paul isn't a Jew-hater anyway, he's just a quasi-crackpot who will take money from anyone.  If I ever voted for him, it would be for the same reasons I voted for Ralph Nader in 2000: because I was dissatisfied with both mainstream candidates, and because I could cast my vote secure in the knowledge that, as a blue stater, it would be meaningless anyway.

CNN/DNC:

"Not. Gonna. Happen. And in light of that I simply can't waste the energy to get too outraged anymore." Yes, chumps, we hold all the cards, and there isn't a damn thing you can do to prevent us doing anything we damn well please. Glad one of you finally wised-up, at least. This is just as stupid and rhetorically empty as the above comment I responded to; I'll get outraged and work up my juices when there's a 'justiceable' issue (to use a legal term) that can really be fought over, such as the Dan Rather TANG memos.  But this?  Look, I've spent too many years as as a media-watcher to think that this will turn out any differently than the countless media-GOP encounters I've witnessed since 1994.  It's not that this isn't outrageous...it's just that I know where to pick my battles.  This isn't worth my umbrage.  It's par for the course.  I envy you fresh-faced (or robust) folks who can summon the full force of outrage anew for each media misdeed...I've long since exhausted my resources, and I'm only 27 years old.

"And Ron Paul isn't a Jew-hater anyway"

Um Dude, he meant Hillary, not Paul.  You said you'd vote for Hillary over Huck.

"I've long since exhausted my resources, and I'm only 27 years old."

Maybe that's your problem.  Put up with this shit for another 20 yrs, then tell me it's not worth worrying about.
After a certain amount of this bullshit piles up, enough is enough.

Campaign videos will, that what. Rest assured, they will be edited furiously for Hillary!
