MSNBC Woos Rosie O'Donnell

MSNBC, seeing its future as an ultra-left cable news network, wants to add more Leftist spin to the evening lineup. Keith Olbermann needs someone ideologically consistent to follow him. Better get Rosie O'Donnell.

Riding a ratings wave from “Countdown With Keith Olbermann,” a program that takes strong issue with the Bush administration, MSNBC is increasingly seeking to showcase its nighttime lineup as a welcome haven for viewers of a similar mind.
Lest there be any doubt that the cable channel believes there is ratings gold in shows that criticize the administration with the same vigor with which Fox News’s hosts often champion it, two NBC executives acknowledged yesterday that they were talking to Rosie O’Donnell about a prime-time show on MSNBC.

Rumor has it that Tucker Carlson's show will be cancelled. If the deal goes through, at least Allah will have new material from her.

The article also contained this puke-inducing comment from Chris Matthews:

“I really do take on people with power,” he said. “Deceit is what drives me crazy, either by Bill Clinton or the hawks in this administration.”

Oh, yeah, she's going to fit right in. Well, they'll have to get her a bigger chair...but you know what I meant.

Aside from the jokes about her girth and stupidity, it is interesting to note how MSNBC continues its quite deliberate positioning as the left wing "alternative" to Fox News.

I think this is a significant movement towards news outlets more openly aligning themselves with a particular political viewpoint, similar to how newspapers were back in the early days of the country.

It may not be a bad idea.

Others have answered, but here's my take. If Bush's successor is Rudy or Romney, the hate continues without a pause. If it's Fred or (spit) McCain, there will be a 20 minute honeymoon. If it's RON PAUL!, there will be endless waves of confusion. However, after a few weeks, the hate will resume.

If it's a Democrat, there will be smugness and arrogance, followed in a few months by whining about "selling out".

But, come what may, the hate will continue. And the whining. No matter what happens, this will never end.
