| Another Gem From the dKos Bush Derangement Admission ThreadBush has also damaged my mental health. After I actually took the trouble to inform myself about politics a couple years ago, and learned the true extent of the damage Bush has done to this country, I have a constant boiling rage inside me. Absolutely constant. Never ceases, though sometimes I can get it down to a simmer so I can go out in public and hang out with friends without doing something stupid. On top of the anger is a generous dose of fear and anxiety, coming directly from the Bush administration's march to fascism. Frequently, I'm so intensely angry that I hit things. I just broke my bookshelf today because I hit it. My knuckles have decent callouses on them from hitting things, and various pieces of my property show signs of my rage. Thankfully, I've never turned violent against people since I was in high school, though I was sorely tempted to deviate the septum of a wingnut who called me a traitor and faggot to my face at the anti-war march last Saturday. Of course, it's unhealthy to harbor this much anger, especially if I'm stuffing it down all the time so people around me don't see me acting borderline psychotic. These emotions leak out, turn into other emotions, like depression, which I've fought with since college. I've also developed a venomous hatred of Bush and his cronies and the 23-percenters that support him. Hatred's never a good emotion to hold, but there it is. I literally hate those motherf*ckers who are destroying our country. By all rights, I should be getting help, but I'm not going to. I was soured on the psychiatry business by my experience with anti-depressants - I ended up nearly emotionless, apathetic, and lost my motivation and creative drive, and as a result, I was unemployed for three years and had to move back in with my parents.... On top of that, if I told a counselor about my feelings, or that I'm so afraid of my government that I literally spent several hundred dollars on a shotgun, a deadly weapon, to defend myself against my government, I'm afraid I could get thrown into the psych ward. And I value my freedom enough that I will not allow that to happen under any circumstances. So, no shrinks. What similar derangements have you suffered having to live with Hillary Clinton as the senior Senator of New York? Which long-term mental health problems and schizophrenic delusions do you think were caused by the Democrats' Congressional victory last November? Comments1

As a resident of the Empire State I can tell you I have been living in
a constant state of fear since her election and reelection. Not so much
because she's a Senator, which is more annoying than anything, but the
fact that statistically speaking, over 65% I have to deal on a daily
basis voted for her. Do you know what it's like living knowing so many
people around you are like these DKos bloggers? I am afraid to look
too many people in the eye for fear it will set them off on some sort
of BDS inspired mental breakdown.

That is a thing of beauty. Truly, the left embodied by one author. Strange, how the admissions emanate from one side of the political/psychological spectrum. Not that their admissions give them any 'moral authority', as in 'at least I recognize and admit I have this problem'. I'm sure you'll hear that used as a moral cudgel... No, this is something that is peculiar to the left. Projection, rage, paranoia, depression, blaming all their issues on someone else... "By all rights, I should be getting help..." Yes, how right you are. I'm still awaiting rage boy to try and 'deviate (my) septum'. Oh what fun it will be to ride in that one horse open sleigh... He (she? doubt it) should ask himself this question: "Have I or anyone I've ever personally known been in the position to need a shotgun to "defend themselves" against the government?" Sheesh. In the vast scheme of things, considering all the governments since the beginning of recorded history, Bush is hardly any different than the presidents before him-- including Clinton et al. Yet somehow his policies are so radical that he's destroying America singlehandedly. As far as I know Bush will stop being president after the 2008 elections but I bet this guy is one of those nuts that thinks Bush will (somehow) "cancel the elections."

Oh... damn. If you google the first sentence "Bush has also damaged my mental health" you can find the post and comment thread where Ace pulls this guy from. Many people over there are actually letting Bush "ruin" their marriages, their relationships with siblings and parents, affecting their health, etc. A few are joking about it, but much too many are deadly serious in their belief that Bush is ruining their social and family life. Nobody, and I mean nobody, is saying what I would be saying if a righty was saying such crap. "Get over it, don't let Clinton/Pelosi/Reid/whoever have that much power over you. OK, one more time about the 23%: By definition, 50% of the populace has below average intelligence, and another 18% don't know which half they're in. About 2-8% of those in the above average group are sufficiently self-serving to consider themselves as the leaders or advocates for those poor, dumb souls. Add a slight margin of error and there you have it. The species has already split. Time to cull the herd. Posted by: electron john at October 30, 2007 01:50 AM (ZvbcI) 28

He had me at hello: After I actually took the trouble to inform myself about politics a couple years ago . . . . OK, how old is this person? Let's say he's at least 25, and thus was eligible to vote in each of the past two elections. Yet he waited until 2005 to "actually ... inform myself about politics." He is a college graduate. And never "took the trouble" to become informed about politics. Well, that's the difference, isn't it? Sure, the right wing has its share of crackpots, basket cases and self-medicating soreheads. God knows we're all keeping our shotguns handy, and many of us are filled with rage at the government in Washington. As far as being filled with "a venomous hatred of Bush and his cronies" -- hey, remember Mel Martinez and the Shamnesty From Hell? Speaking just for me, then, I can totally relate to this Kossack. This post is so typical I have no doubt it is real. At Democraticunderground.com, threads like this are a dime a dozen and have been since 2001 when Bush was elected selected. The other telling thing is that the largest most active interest group at DU is the mental health group. These people have serious problems, and I am sure Bush really does send them into profound states of emotional anguish. Clinton's presidency was exasperating and The Dem Congress has turned out to be every single bit the farce I expected it to be. But neither upset my emotional well-being to the degree you see with the Nutroots. Posted by: Moonbat_One at October 30, 2007 03:02 AM (+OZh8) 35

It's funny. My shrink realized that not only am I raving fucking mad, I also am correct. Those not in the 23% are the ones trying to hijack this country from hard working, tax paying Americans. I've been educating myself on our political process for 35 years, and I am certain that folks like the one highlighted above, are the root cause of unnecessary unrest in this country. For those who thought I miscounted in my rant in #27, I'll lay odds that any difference is made up by a few million illegal immigrants, encouraged by the Dems, who berlieve it will be their right to vote in our elections. Those millions of illegal voters will cost the RNC the election, leading the DNC to claim a "mandate." This is not a democracy and god help any majority that attempts to impose their will.

I'm not one to suggest that private persons are in no danger from the government; I pay too much in taxes to believe such a thing. But this...person obviously does need mental help. The random outbursts of self-damaging violence notwithstanding, he makes absolutely no mention of why he's in such fear. What's been done to him? Who does he think is watching him, and when, where, and why? There's been so much loose talk about the Administration's surveillance measures that now and then I have to check my own assumptions. Who's watching whom? When, where, why, and how? Does even the most case-hardened privacy advocate believe that persons outside the borders of this country have privacy rights enforceable against the United States? Does even the dimmest leftist dimbulb seriously contend that transactions with a government bureau -- and that's what every public library is -- must be kept secret from the government itself? But perhaps I'm expecting leftists to make sense of the sort I was taught in school, where conclusions are founded on sound premises and acceptable reasoning. Clearly, they feel no such constraint. I wish this guy were atypical, but he's not. A former co-worker of mine got so worked up over Bush that he broke out in eczema, his arms covered with inflamed sores. A very bright fellow, but gullible - he took Michael Moore at face value. And I recall many other occasions when leftist family members were reduced to spluttering incoherent rage by just the mention of G----- B---'s name.
It's curious, though, how rage at Bush is almost in direct proportion to one's self-esteem. I mean, these guys all think they're super-geniuses, that they've found the secret X-file that put them "in the know", while the rest of us poor saps are wandering in the darkness. Which is why they're buying shotguns and muttering about how they've stopped taking their meds because the CIA slipped tracking devices into the pills, or some such. We on the right certainly have our dingbats and foam-flecked-lips zealots; but one thing you find here which I've never seen on the left: the ability to laugh at ourselves. Could you imagine, for example, any leftist blogger referring to his readers as "morons"? Never. Not possible. Or could you imagine a leftist Scrappleface? Or Iowahawk? I should live so long. Their notion of humor is Al Franken, a hatchet-faced, self-righteous prig. So, fellow morons, break out the Val-U-Rite, toss another hobo over the fire, and party on. Oh, and don't forget the polish the shotguns. Posted by: Brown Line at October 30, 2007 07:38 AM (x4rbl) 46

I've been seeing this for, well, seven years now. The liberals started out angry after the 2000 election and they've just gotten madder and madder. Even winning control of Congress in 06 didn't help. The moderate, sensible ones drop out or keep silent, while the activists are caught in a kind of feedback loop, constantly ratcheting up the anger and madness.
I really am afraid they're going to explode. Sometime during the run-up to the 08 election some of them are going to decide it's time for "direct action" and actually start hurting people. I expect a LOT of vandalizing Republican campaign offices, tearing down signs, threats to campaign workers, etc. These people are literally insane, and consumed with hatred. If they do start to lash out, it'll be ugly. Posted by: Trimegistus at October 30, 2007 09:45 AM (Xx0xl) Posted by: pajama momma at October 30, 2007 09:45 AM (fRbgO) 73

(emphasis added) For those of you who prefer to contemplate the bottom of a bottle of Val-U-Rite to keeping up with current events, HR2640 (I think is the number) in the wrong hands (like Lady Macbeth's, or Hizzoner's for that matter) has the potential to do exactly that. Iraqi Dam Seen In Danger of Deadly Collapse By Amit R. Paley
AT THE MOSUL DAM, Iraq -- The largest dam in Iraq is in serious danger of an imminent collapse that could unleash a trillion-gallon wave of water, possibly killing thousands of people and flooding two of the largest cities in the country, according to new assessments by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and other U.S. officials. Even in a country gripped by daily bloodshed, the possibility of a catastrophic failure of the Mosul Dam has alarmed American officials, who have concluded that it could lead to as many as 500,000 civilian deaths by drowning Mosul under 65 feet of water and parts of Baghdad under 15 feet, said Abdulkhalik Thanoon Ayoub, the dam manager. "The Mosul dam is judged to have an unacceptable annual failure probability," in the dry wording of an Army Corps of Engineers draft report. At the same time, a U.S. reconstruction project to help shore up the dam in northern Iraq has been marred by incompetence and mismanagement, according to Iraqi officials and a report by a U.S. oversight agency to be released Tuesday. The reconstruction project, worth at least $27 million, was not intended to be a permanent solution to the dam's deficiencies. "In terms of internal erosion potential of the foundation, Mosul Dam is the most dangerous dam in the world," the Army Corps concluded in September 2006, according to the report to be released Tuesday. "If a small problem [at] Mosul Dam occurs, failure is likely." The effort to prevent a failure of the dam has been complicated by behind-the-scenes wrangling between Iraqi and U.S. officials over the severity of the problem and how much money should be allocated to fix it. The Army Corps has recommended building a second dam downstream as a fail-safe measure, but Iraqi officials have rejected the proposal, arguing that it is unnecessary and too expensive. The debate has taken place largely out of public view because both Iraqi and U.S. Embassy officials have refused to discuss the details of safety studies -- commissioned by the U.S. government for at least $6 million -- so as not to frighten Iraqi citizens. Portions of the draft report were read to The Washington Post by an Army Corps official who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the matter. The Post also reviewed an Army Corps PowerPoint presentation on the dam. "The Army Corps of Engineers determined that the dam presented unacceptable risks," U.S. Ambassador Ryan C. Crocker and Gen. David H. Petraeus, the U.S. commander in Iraq, wrote in a May 3 letter to Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki. "Assuming a worst-case scenario, an instantaneous failure of Mosul Dam filled to its maximum operating level could result in a flood wave 20 meters deep at the City of Mosul, which would result in a significant loss of life and property." Sitting in a picturesque valley 45 miles along the Tigris River north of Mosul, the earthen dam has one fundamental problem: It was built on top of gypsum, which dissolves when it comes into contact with water. Almost immediately after the dam was completed in the early 1980s, engineers began injecting the dam with grout, a liquefied mixture of cement and other additives. More than 50,000 tons of material have been pumped into the dam since then in a continual effort to prevent the structure, which can hold up to 3 trillion gallons of water, from collapsing. After the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq in 2003, American officials began to study risks posed by the dam, which they said were underestimated by Iraqis. "Iraqi government believes dam is safe," concluded a 32-page PowerPoint presentation prepared by the Army Corps and dated December 2006. On a tour of the dam on a recent blistering afternoon, Ayoub, the manager, contended that the dam was safe but acknowledged the unusual problems with it. Seepage from the dam funnels into a gushing stream of water that engineers monitor to determine the severity of the leakage. Twenty-four clanging machines churn 24 hours a day to pump grout deep into the dam's base. And sinkholes form periodically as the gypsum dissolves beneath the structure. "You cannot find any other dam in the world like this," said Ayoub, a mustachioed man in a dark business suit who has worked at the dam since 1983 and has managed it since 1989. About two years ago, Ayoub became concerned that the pressure of the water was putting the dam at risk of failure. So he ordered that the dam's water level, which can reach 330 meters above sea level, not exceed 319 meters. But reports prepared by the Army Corps of Engineers began to raise new alarms. "Mosul Dam is 'unsafe' in any definition," the PowerPoint presentation said. It added: "Condition continually degrading" and "Failure mode is credible." Under a section labeled "Consequences of Failure," it says: "Mass civilian fatalities." Ayoub said U.S. officials spoke in person about the dam in even more apocalyptic terms. "They went to the Ministry of Water Resources and told them that the dam could collapse any day," he said. The report so alarmed the governor of Nineveh province, where the dam is located, that he asked that it be drained of all water immediately, Ayoub said. Ayoub said he agrees that the most catastrophic collapse of the dam could kill 500,000 people, but he said U.S. officials have not convinced him that the structure is at high risk of collapse. "The Americans may very well be right about the danger," Ayoub said. "I think it is safe enough that my office is in the flood plain." In an interview Monday night, Abdul Latif Rashid, Iraq's minister of water resources, said that he believed the safety situation was not critical and that he was more inclined to trust his engineers than American reports. "Is the dam going to collapse tomorrow?" Rashid said. "I can't tell you that. Let us hope that we avoid a disaster and focus now on a solution." The Army Corps has recommended that a partially constructed dam at Badush, which lies between Mosul Dam and the city, be finished as a stopgap measure in case Mosul Dam collapses. But Salar Bakir Sami, director general of planning and development at the Water Resources Ministry, said Iraqi government officials do not think it is necessary to spend the estimated $10 billion for such a project. Instead, he said, the ministry planned to spend $300 million to construct a smaller version of the Badush dam that would generate electricity and provide irrigation, but not serve as a safety valve in case Mosul Dam breaks. Rashid said his top priority is to fix Mosul Dam by building a concrete wall at its foundation that should shore up the design and provide "a permanent solution." He said experts have just discovered cutting-edge technology that would allow such a wall to be built, perhaps with construction starting by next year at a cost of less than $1 billion. In the report to be released Tuesday, the Office of the Special Inspector General for Iraq Reconstruction, a federal oversight agency, found that little of the reconstruction effort led by the U.S. Embassy has succeeded in improving the dam. The office reviewed contracts worth $27 million, but an embassy official said the total cost of the project was $34 million. The review found that a Turkish company, which was paid $635,000 for a contract awarded 19 months ago to build storage silos for cement, had done so little and such poor-quality work that its project may have to be restarted. One company contracted to design grout-mixing plants instead submitted plans for unusable concrete-mixing plants. High-tech equipment meant to help grouting is gathering dust because it won't work, according to investigators. Posted by: funky chicken at October 30, 2007 11:33 AM (I+jPP) 95

I became good friends with a girl in 2001, and our friendship went sour three months in when she learned I was a Republican. It just came up in conversation one day. We were both actors, so I'd always assumed she was a lefty, but we had been so caught up in our work that politics simply never came up before. I was the same guy she liked so much for 3 months, but once she learned that I was a Republican and had voted for Bush, she acted as if I'd told her I was a pedophile. There is apparently some connection between dissatisfaction with oneself and proneness to credulity. The urge to escape our real self is also an urge to escape the rational and the obvious. The refusal to see ourselves as we are develops a distaste for facts and cold logic. There is no hope for the frustrated in the actual and the possible. I will have a hard time buying ugg classic cardy at normal brick and mortar store for now on knowing that I can browse the largest selection I have ever seen and purchase confidently. Thanks for being a great company.Although your ugg boots cardy website is entered by users, the site has a lot of accurate and useful information on it.your net shop is kept to a minimum and favours websites connected to the ugg cardy boots Web Design Library in appearance and subject.
The popular blue ugg is renowned for its comfort. But some doctors worry that the popular black ugg could cause serious foot pain in the long run.So some podiatrists across the country are telling ugg classic cardy lovers to watch their steps. In fact, there is nothing wrong! The crochet boots online retailer also knows bargain-hungry shoppers are scouring the Web for discounts, and its UGG Classic Crochet rivals are more than happy to provide them. So it is putting coupon codes on ugg classic crochet that customers can use to save money on its site. Posted by: makol UGG at December 05, 2009 06:09 AM (cmMdO) 257
