| Bush Climate Critic a Soros Stooge?Remember NASA scientist James Hansen who claimed the Bush Administration was censoring his dire predictions about Global Warming? Well, in addition to getting some historic temperature data wrong and having at one time been a Global Cooling alarmist, it seems the good doctor has received a few bucks from noted Bush hater George Soros’ ‘Open Society Institute’. How many people, for instance, know that James Hansen, a man billed as a lonely "NASA whistleblower" standing up to the mighty U.S. government, was really funded by Soros' Open Society Institute , which gave him "legal and media advice"? That's right, Hansen was packaged for the media by Soros' flagship "philanthropy," by as much as $720,000, most likely under the OSI's "politicization of science" program. That may have meant that Hansen had media flacks help him get on the evening news to push his agenda and lawyers pressuring officials to let him spout his supposedly "censored" spiel for weeks in the name of advancing the global warming agenda. Hansen even succeeded, with public pressure from his nightly news performances, in forcing NASA to change its media policies to his advantage. Had Hansen's OSI-funding been known, the public might have viewed the whole production differently. The outcome could have been different.Gee, I wonder if this Soros funded ‘media advice’ had any impact on Hansen’s media campaign against the Bush Administration? That’s a real puzzler but I disagree it would have mattered to the MSM who bought Hansen hook, line and sinker. They don’t care that he’s part of the Soros attack machine. Check out the whole Investors Business Daily story for more information on Soros’ corrosive impact on politics. Comments1
I'm shocked.

No wonder Soros is pumping so much cash into sites like Media Matters and other blogs that are trying to shout down Fox News and other who point this stuff out.
And yet, it's Media Matters and the like who claim that FNC is the biggest threat to America. Posted by: eddiebear at September 26, 2007 12:47 PM (wnU1W) Posted by: Brennan at September 26, 2007 12:50 PM (qzcNU) 5

I love this story! It usually turns out that the people accusing of wrong doing are the ones engaging in such wrong doing. It still won't matter, kill the messenger and all.

But on Boston Legal last night, Candice Bergan made the point that BIG OIL is funding all the anti-warming reports. IT'S BIAS BY THE OIL COMPANIES. Don't you wingnuts watch Boston Legal? Or are YOU bought off by Exxon too?

There is something terribly wrong with the Soros billions financing all this stuff and the real story as to...Hansen's funding source, the "spontaneous" immigration demonstrations, funding for Hamden and so on...only coming out months later in an annual (financial) report.
Soros Open Society Institute (the one that funded Hansen) and his other organizations demand transparency but are highly secretive in their own machinations. George is sick and tweaking this society in his own very unhealthy manner. Using his billions like that calls to mind how the Saudis are using our petrodollars to finance pro Saudi, pro Shari'a causes. This sh!t's gotta stop ! George Soros. The rich, white billionaire that protects you from the MAN by pulling the puppet strings! Damn the Man, unless he is anti-US, anti-Bush and anti-market, then the MAN is hip and phat and all that!!!

I want to know whose money is going into the pockets of congressman Murtha.
I also want to know how much the current monetary woes the US is suffering from have to do with manipulation of the market by guys like Soros. Posted by: Christopher Taylor at September 26, 2007 01:19 PM (wmgz8) 11
"But on Boston Legal last night, Candice Bergan made the point that BIG OIL is funding all the anti-warming reports.
I watched it, I hardly ever do. The point made and re made was that university departments were bought by big oil to churn out pro big oil, anti GW reports. I couldn't help but think during all that idiotic propaganda MASQUERADING AS TV ENTERTAINMENT of a all the purported "scientists" that had better arrive at the "politically correct" conclusions on GW (those would be AlGore's) or have their own funding yanked. Bu that story didn't make Boston Legal. Posted by: tanstaafl at September 26, 2007 01:24 PM (M/8zd) 12
I'm tired of feeling like I'm living in the first half of a James Bond movie.
You know, the imperious billionaire villian running rampant, successfully running his evil scheme. First, Bin Laden. Now, George Soros. Each in their own way trying to destroy American society, economy, and power. And they're not the only ones. Any rich guy who isn't spending his money on luxury yachts, airplanes, hot babes, booze, fast cars, more hot babes and building the occasional Carnegie Hall or hospital or library needs a visit from 007. Of course, it's no longer Global Warming, we're talking Climate Change, now. Actually, forget Climate Change...it's all about the Climate Cash.

"Any rich guy who isn't spending his money..."
I'd probably go to hell (at least) if I told you I even have a problem with Bill Gates' dumping of millions onto "problems" here and there. The latest Gates' dumpage being onto"TB". The whole phenomenon of money dumping onto and all its attendent awfulness. And don't get me started on that Bono guy. (later) Posted by: tanstaafl at September 26, 2007 01:54 PM (M/8zd) 15
I actually don't have a problem with George Soros dumping money into organizations that advance his political agenda. It's his money, and he can do anything (legal) with it that he wants.
It'd bother me a lot more if it were tax dollars that were being used to fund hs agenda. He's like Ralph Nader -- both fund semi-secretive foundations whose job it is to promote policies that fuck up the country, and both squeal like little girls when critics suggest that they should run their organizations with the same "openness" standards they demand for everyone else. LMAO! You guys just swallow the whole enchilada without even thinking, don't you! If it's what you want to hear, reliability and unbiased reporting be damned! I like it when the author (who didn't even have the cahoonas to put his name on the "opinion") uses stellar phrases like "That may have meant..." and "most likely under...". Talk about "solid reporting", lol. How about a real source so we can check your intel, Mr. Anonymous?? Hansen was already telling his story without any Soros money, so get over it. The original "opinion" piece was even posted at , get this, 4:20! Tells you what he was smokin'. No wonder he wouldn't attach his name to the article. Yep, that's a real piece of journalism. Who was doing a hack job on whom here? Or was this meant as a piece of fiction? Oh well, it's a piece of "something" alright. Posted by: goodlibs at September 26, 2007 02:15 PM (x5ulD) 17

The "climate" threads always attract the crackpipe-wielding leftists.
Hey, whose business is it if Hansen wants to take hundreds of thousands of dollars from that Nazi-collaborating currency-speculating inside trader? Just because an indicted criminal gives you lots of money doesn't make you corrupt in any way. And I'll prove it. Just get George Soros to give me $720,000, and I'll prove to you how little influence that money has. The Crimes of Soros are one of the more heavily-documented tales of woe ignored by our MSM, but far from the only one. Just google and pick a source you think is trustworthy, then you can read all the juicy details. I'm still not clear on the reference to 4:20 - is this supposed to be like saying the author is a Nazi because Hitler's birthday was April 20th? Kind of like the Duke 88 were Nazis because neonazis have adopted "88" as a reference to "Heil Hitler?" Or how numerologically speaking, Katie Couric is the Antichrist? While "goodlibs" is no doubt a lost cause, here are a couple more Soros articles for those who would like a few more downers for the afternoon... http://www.frontpagemag.com/Articles/Read.aspx?GUID=%7B89BC7BB2-298F-4B8D-99DF-A9EA273A0559%7D http://frontpagemag.com/Articles/Read.aspx?GUID={5A30173A-2F13-4FAE-9437-2C67243B964A} http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2006/10/soros_move_on_accuses_jews_of.html http://sweetness-light.com/archive/the-ap-calls-moveon-a-grassroots-movement There is, of course, much, much more. Hansen, the usefule idiot, has probably outlived his usefulness to the cause of anthropegenic global warming...I doubt he will be getting any more money from Soros or dinner invitations from Al Gore. And, since he has turned NASA into the shitscreen for Global Warming hacks, they are probably looking for an opportunity to assign him to something he can handle like cleaning toilets...Yeah I know, he would probably fuck that up too... Only an Al Gore Presidency can save him now, and it doesn't look like the bag of doughnuts is going to run... Posted by: Nozzle at September 26, 2007 03:37 PM (17UVf) 22

toby928,
"No, no, he was being censored by the Bush administration...er did I miss a change in the talking points?" He bucked the Bush, and good for him! That's what you're missing. So, Soros gave him some support (if that's even a fact). Big deal. Posted by: goodlibs at September 26, 2007 04:08 PM (x5ulD) 24
Goodlibs, to take a page out of the lib playbook, ala; Dan Rather, it is now up to Hansen to prove that he did not take money from Soros.

Oh merovign, "American Thinker", "Frontpage"....pleeeeaase, gimmee a break. Got any reliable sources, or are we to keep pecking at the Op/Ed slants of that kind of chicken scratch? That's akin to Limbaugh using Drudge as a source, lol. If I am a "lost cause" as you put it, I'll stay there... if my "well of knowledge" has to consist of those resources. As you put it, "there is much, much more"...but you'd have to take off the blinders first. As for the 4:20 reference, you'll have to ask around. Understand, I don't partake, but I know what it means. Your guesses weren't even warm, but hey, not a biggie. I had no idea when Hitlers birthday was...but you had it on the tip of your fingers...congrats on that one! Posted by: goodlibs at September 26, 2007 04:21 PM (x5ulD) 26
Goodlibs, to take a page out of the lib playbook, ala; Dan Rather, it is now up to Hansen to prove that he did not take money from Soros. To who?? Hell, not to me. I could care less. The idea that he was being censored should be the bigger concern of someone who cares about the Constitution and what power the President will use/misuse. You can't put a price tag on that folks. Is that the way you want your Gov't to act? Let the truth be told, all around. Let Hansen admit he took help from Soros if he did. And let Bush et al admit they censor scienctific data if they did. Which is worse? Posted by: goodlibs at September 26, 2007 04:27 PM (x5ulD) 27
Ah, but the debate is over, according to Gore/David. If that's not censuring then I don't know what is. Posted by: Judd at September 26, 2007 05:19 PM (JB0d8) 28
Plus, didn't Hansen do like 100's of radio/tv interviews. And if he was being censured, how do we know exactly where he stands and where all his faulty studies lead us?
Posted by: Judd at September 26, 2007 05:22 PM (JB0d8) 29
Yeah he was so censored that in that time period he did almost 150 interviews. Hate to hear him when he was able to speak freely.
