I have to make a trip to LA this afternoon to me with some representatives of the City. I am truly concerned about what I might hear while I'm there and what my reaction will be. I'm serious. I'm not sure I could contain myself depending what I encounter.

It is at the top of my list of priorities to be as quiet as possible and react to nothing. What does it tell you that I have to put that much effort into preparing for left wing lunacy?

I'm going to try to stay positive. But, if anything really nutty comes up, I'll report it here tonight.

Weird side note; I'm travelling to this thing with a couple of persian guys. It's going to be a restrained trip for an hour, conversationally, that is.

Here's a disturbing story: my uncle worked in 140 West St, across from the WTC. When the first plane hit, his boss told everyone to get back to work. My uncle ignored him and left. The towers fell onto the building, which survived somehow, although it had holes you could drive a bulldozer through, and half the building was wrecked.

When shit happens, get the hell out of the way. Don't expect someone else to come and save you.

It's not exactly the same thing, but on September 11, I was interning on the Hill in the Longworth Office Building, across the street from the Capitol.  Amazingly enough, even after the second plane hit the WTC, we continued on with our day, and I even went to an internet database training session.  We finally got the call to evacuate at about 9:45 or so, I think after the Pentagon was hit. 

I know we couldn't exactly have predicted that the Capitol could have been a target (which I believe it was, or at least a secondary target), but in retrospect, I can't believe I stayed put. 

Terrifying, sickening and chilling. 

One thing I didn't hear...  maybe it's just me.  Anyone hear any "demolition charges"? 

I'm no demolition expert, but one would think that you'd hear the detonations - that kind of sound would transfer through the steel and sound like really big hammers on the phone line? Anyone got a line on this?  Anyone who really does know would be welcome to comment.

What I heard the terrified last seconds of a man's life before the building he was in collapsed due to structural failure.  I did not hear the evil machinations of some conspiracy.

Sorry, moonbats, but that might put a nail in that conspiracy theory...

That call is real. I have heard it before. You only have the last portion. He was really berating the 911 operator and complained about the heat. The other guy voice was also on the call. It did end when the building felldown. There were a  lot of people who figured they could not get out  and stayed on the phone until the end. The 911  calls were heart breaking.

Most of the nation did unite under the hammer blow of the attacks. Never have the US been attacked in such a way  and the attack was meant to remove the govt. I believed that day and still do that one of the planes was aiming for the Capital or the White House. Any attack that attempts to take out our govt is a an attack on the US. The closest this was before was the burning of the Capital in the War of 1812.

However the Hate America first crowd was only cowed for 3 years before they started coming out of the woodwork the rats had climbed into. Remember how anyone who disagreed was tarred and feathered with the accusation of failing to defend the US. This was very effective tactic until Dean unleashed the unwashed rabid masses in the 2004 election. That morphed into MOVEON  and the other types who prefer to attack ourselves rather than the real enemy. The reason they attack America is that is the only thing they  feel is safe to attack  and they have absorbed the belief that Western Civilization is at fault for everything because we have been so sucessful.  Very similar to what the  Arab Zealots  believe.

So similar that the recent AQ tape is identical to the words of the leftists  and Democrats. The only way the Democrats believe they can win the White House is for the US to lose the war  and hang the failure around the Republican necks. For a while this spring, Americans seem to start to believe that we were losing. But really we were just not winning  and the resultant power vaccum allowed other factions to start to get vengence and eliminate other factions in classic power politics.

Americans hate stalemates and would rather leave than be stalemated. But we really prefer to win and then get out. The Bush people have not been very good explaining what would constitute winning. The goal post keeps changiing.

The real problem is that the US is not real good about occupations and subduing revolts with ruthless dispatch. We need to get our forces freed up before we could contemplate  taking on Iran.

I'm an Iraq war veteran, and if anyone doubts why we should have leveled the fucking Middle East on 12 September, all they need do is listen to desperate phone call like Cosgrove's.
